If there are any NBA fans here, there is actually a really fun little piece of trivia about this album. It turns out that LeBron James absolutely loves synthwave music. In 2013 after his Heat team beat the Spurs in the finals, LeBron blasted this album in the locker-room during the celebration. His teammates were pissed off and tried playing their own music, but Bron would not relent. This music is what they had to celebrate to.
Really starting to appreciate this album after a few listens. I visited Arizona last year and some of these tracks take me back there. Driving through the desert with those huge mesas in the background was like being on a different planet.
The end of echo canyon from 1:08:15-1:09:20 is genuinely one of the most comforting things I've ever heard in music, going from the intense horrifying sound to the breeze and calmness is so cool
I've never been to Arizona, but the other day I was randomly daydreaming of retiring there, in the desert with a view of the mountains... anyway, sweet album.
it's really HOT, like melting hot, retiring there isn't recommended, 650 people died from the heat last year in just 1 county... the deserts are deadly, if you can't afford air conditioning and the repair costs that go with that then I would head elsewhere
for the record, i DID NOT have any part in the creation or official release of this album. the artist is joseph jakob, and he actually is from arizona lol
This appeared on my feed and now I will always tie this album to the morning that me and my closest love have parted ways...I don't want to be stuck in the past, but only thing I can do is imagine a better future, and currently I can't hlp myself from seing her in that future. It's stupid I know... Anyway thank you 💗
i dont think its stupid at all, fella. music is very powerful (as trite as it may be to say at this point lol). it's a record of who we are and who we once were at any given time. not just for the listener, but for the artist too; ive heard that most of the time, a musician can't recall exactly what spurred the creation of a song, but they can remember just how they felt at that moment in time. some times in life, you feel something youve never felt before and have never felt since, and i dont find it unlikely that a song or an album can trigger an emotion similar to or exactly that of the emotions felt in the past.
Cibola's intro/backing and rhythm remind me of some of the theme music from the film Evolution, which happens to take place (and was actually filmed at) Glen Canyon, Arizona. Just thought it was a cool coincidence 🤔
clicked cause i like album covers with desert mountains n shit on em (ala inlet by hum/amber bty autechre), will see if i like. be backs oon edit: yes, i love it.
Clicked cause I listened to Amber the other day and wondered if the algorithm was dopey and suggested similar music by album art instead of by musical content. But yeah it checks out

Good to be back
I moved to AZ in 2000. Found this today. Gives me vibes of that time. Songwriter here too.

As a Utahn and a small piece of Arizona's annoying mormon cousin, this sounds the same as the south desert does in my head, straight fire
Fuck Arizona

I used to live in Arizona. It's fucking hot.

Hey man, any idea where I could get a download of this release? Or a contact to Joseph Jakob
This was like the uncle that I never had when I was a boy.
Hey Joe, are you making music again yet? You should.
Sweet pfp bro
tbh this would be great ambient music for a new vegas style game
this looks like where Mr. White buried 7 drums of cash and this first tune played in his car on his way back
What genre is this?
It is Downtempo. This variation adds more to the abstractness.
