    Thank you guys for your positive guidance with this CRT issue I had today! From now on I will be splitting my transactions and rolling ECBS.. also changing the store that I frequently shop at. I hope you guys are catching some great savings! Have a wonderful week! 😊🙌🏾

      I shop between 3 stores. They never know when I'm stopping in because I hate to get there and a cashier changes the policy to fit their own wording.

      also, sometimes the crt's are coded incorrectly. When you looked at the screen, the first 2 out of the 4 crt's had the override button next to it. This is for them to look at your cart to see you bought the items and apply the crt's.

    • @MsHill79
      @MsHill79 5 лет назад +6

      @@aryankanthety2506 yes indeed. That's why I have my cashier turn their screen so I can see it and if they don't come off right, we start over. There's a certain order to scanning and we do it until we get it right. I just step aside if there's a line and wait until no one is behind me.

      New programming...my store too. Now you have to hit the threshold ($30 ie: L'Oreal promo) AFTER your manufacturer coupons and CRT's come off. So I started shopping between 2 stores now.

      This happened to me before. I learned that it’s better to split the transaction too. Although it takes longer. Because I tend to go in and out the lines if there’s a lot of ppl waiting but other than that I think the transaction is much smoother. 😊

    It’s the threshold coupons that don’t play nice together . The funny thing is they work together if you have your crts on your card and not printed. New subscriber btw I love that you showed the [real] ❤️ we have all been there honestly.

    When you said you just wanted to walk out, I completely felt your pain & frustration! My crts haven't been working like they should lately either. And last week, I had a cart FULL of what would've been MM deals, and the cashier wouldn't even ring me up! She told me that none of the ecbs would print because the next week's deals would apply. But I know for a fact that that store's deals did not early activate until midnight ( it was 10pm at a 24-hr store & I scanned everything & the prices matched the ad). Plus, I actually shopped early activation the previous Saturday, and it didn't work until 12:01am. I had TONS of coupons & really great CRTs that were going to expire that day, and the promos also. So,I put a couple items on the counter, wanting to at least TRY one deal, but she refused to ring anything up, rudely arguing that nothing would work. She kept telling me, "It's ok, I'll put everything back on the shelf." I had spent 2 hours in the store and wanted to purchase all my items, not put them back! She wouldn't let me buy anything, not even a couple clearance items with no ecbs attached. I was beyond furious!! She had a big coat on when I walked up, so I'm not sure if she was going on break or about to clock out, but either way, it was obvious that she just did NOT want to do her job. I'm going back to speak with the manager, but I'm not sure what he can really do for me now. The deals aren't the same this week, my q are expired, & my crts aren't great like last week. I think I may start shopping Walgreens instead!

Ever since I started doing that I haven’t had a problem ... this week I did the garnier, Colgate , TP, MW and the halls all in one and didn’t have a problem and used all crt’s and mfr cpns it all went smooth 😉👍🏼. So I shopped at CVS today as well and I only purchased the toothpaste. I made 2 separate purchases with my $1 off coupons (didn't have the $4 one) and used the second ECB to pay for the second one. Definitely split up into smaller transactions. Just watched another couponer and she did the Colgate deal and the Soft Soap deal and they both worked fine. She got 2 toothpaste and 2 mouthwash, used 3 paper coupons and the $4/$14 and it worked perfect. Got 2 Soft Soap, used 2 paper, a $2 instant, and a $2/$6 and didn’t have an issue there either.

  • @tia119

    This is not a new coupon policy, Meek. CVS has always done it that way. It's why CRTs say "pending validation" and nothing comes off until they hit the button. Idk what that lady was talking about.
    CVS always takes the MFCs off first so your MW CRT not working makes perfect sense to me. You would be at 5.98 before the CRT and for Threshold CRTs if it says 6 bucks, it gotta be 6 or more no 98% rule here.
    No idea why your body wash CRT didn't work though, you would've been at 8.22 before the CRT ran validation.
    It could also have been cause you did such a large transaction. That l'oreal deal has deals nested in them so it really should have been done on it's own. What's crazy is that everyone had trouble with the 4 off 15 l'oreal hair care CRT and you didn't.
    In any case, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You're still an amazing couponer. And thanks for showing the good bad and ugly!

      Just want to clarify... the instant savings coupon that everyone got starting today (10 off 30) will come off as soon as you hit 30 in qualifying purchases or is it after all paper, digital and cvs MFG coupons?
      It’s confusing because it’s a threshold and an instant savings. I haven’t used it yet and all my calculations are based on it coming off before those “pending validation” ones.

    • @tia119
      @tia119 5 лет назад +5

      @@x0thorn0x The 10 off 30 is not instant as it automatically comes off. It's a CRT like the rest of them. It will say "pending validation" like the other ones do. Remember when you use MFC it starts to drive your price down and CRTs come off after MFC so it CAN spit out an error if you do not hit that threshold. I'm doing some trials to really get some idea of why CRTs work and why they don't.
      For me, the 10 off 30 worked at one store and the exact same transaction at another store it spat it back out at me. Then again, 2 CVSs I went to were having register problems and whatnot.
      My best advice would be to do this deal in it's own transaction and watch your totals very, very carefully. CVS registers have proven to be very finicky. Especially with makeup deals.
      You can check out SavvyCouponShopper, she shows her l'oreal receipt. I believe she got some maybelline makeup and l'oreal shampoo.

      Tierra Maria thank you! I’m not doing it till Wednesday so still time to calculate and recalculate... I’d love to hear if you figure out more order and/or logic to those CRTs. It’s massively helpful to learn through more then a couple personal transactions per week. I love Savvy, and OCC, too.
      I noticed on my last Target run that cartwheel’s % off deals seem to act very similarly... I think they come off, recalculated, at the end after all other coupons... I only noticed it because of a 5 cent cartwheel coupon (on the receipt) that made no sense, but kind of did once everything was recalculated. The final totals came out as expected but just like CVS, the receipt shows a confusion of discounts that aren’t easy to decipher without detailed notes made prior to shopping.

      @tia119 5 лет назад +1

      @@x0thorn0x yeah I find it to be hit or miss too, the CRTs according to the policy can also affect how sales tax is calculated too so it's all a big mess! If I figure it out I'll be sure to spread word of my findings

    At my store you can use a crt with a manufacturer coupon. But you can’t combine two crts on the same product, it will kick one out. Like the $10 off $30 L’Oreal crt made it kick out a L’Oreal lipstick crt for me.

    Thanks for your videos, I really like watching them! The reason your CRT's didn't work is because they were $X off of $Y. So if you have a $4 off of $18 and a $10 off of $30, the total has to be $48. On your toothpaste/mouthwash deal, you had a $2/$6 and a $4/$14, so your total would have needed to be at least $20, but it was only $18.45. About six months ago I started to have trouble using threshold coupons as well. It took me while but I finally figured out what was going on and how to avoid it.
    The Colgate transaction did not work for you because you did not meet the spend requirements for the CRTS. You had a $4.00 off $14 and a $2.00 off $6.00 which means that to use both of them you would have had to spend $20 in Colgate products but you only spent $18.45. I'm not sure why the body wash CRT did not go though because you did spend the correct amount on body wash.
    On the L'oreal deal you have had to spend $42.00 total to use the $10.00 off $30.00 and the $2.00 off $12.00 together.
    I know that the first time I had trouble with the threshold CRTs we tried to do the transaction over several times and could not get it to work. I had to go back and do a separate transaction for each and every deal that I had a threshold CRT for.
    Anytime you have a threshold coupon like a $8.00 off $40.00 you cannot use a $2.00 off $12.00 Makeup CRT with it unless you spend $52.00 total. I never have trouble with using coupons and threshold CRTs together. I will say that yesterday when I did the Loreal and Maybelline deal I had a $3.00 off CRT for the Maybelline Color sensational lipstick and a $2.00 MFC for maybelline lipstick and the CRT would not take. The Cashier told me that from now on if the CRT has MFR on it, which stands for manufacturer, that I could not use that with a newspaper coupon. Now that one is new to me and I have never had that happen before. I was not able to use that CRT in my transaction.

    I think as a couponer we’ve all been here. Sometimes are transaction just don’t go the way we want. But the thing to remember is that it’s okay to walk away regroup and try again. I think what made it such a bad transaction was your cashier being inexperienced and not very helpful. When using to many threshold crt in a transaction the computer gets kinda haywire. So it’s best to work in smaller transactions as you later stated. That way you can see what working and what’s not. Also keep in mind that these deals run over and over so if you don’t luck up this time there will always be a next time! Thanks for sharing you experience. Great haul 😊

    I think the reason why your Loreal transaction didn't go through is because you had several threshold CRT'S in 1 transaction so even if you do meet the threshold amounts, they don't go through, it's kind of like hit or miss with those 😞 I would suggest doing smaller transactions to prevent these issues. I've been there before and it's frustrating but don't get discouraged because it all comes with couponing ☺ hope you have a great week🤗😃

    This is all too common an occurrence. Small transactions are the way to go. And even with that, last week I had a problem with something and a couple CRTs got kicked out and the manager cancelled it and scanned the items (like shampoos) then she scanned the CRTs and coupons for that item, then she scanned my next group of items (let’s say covergirl) and she scanned the CRTS and coupons, then she scanned my next group (let’s just say ThermaCare cream), then my CRTs and coupons then she subtitled and I used my EBCs but it all went thru where it tried to kick out some of my CRTs before. Sometimes it’s just easier to go to another store. I know which cashier will tell me things even though it’s wrong. It’s just not even worth trying to correct them. I just feel if the registers were updated this wouldn’t be such an issue. I’m so sorry this happened though.

    Yeah the coupons do come off first so then u cant use the crt because the total is under stated on the crt. But what you can do is add one more item and use another coupon so it will be above and the crt will scan. For example you got 3 bodywash so you would add another bodywash along with another .75 coupon off coupon so the crt would scan. The same thing happen when i tried to use a $4 off $14 in head n shoulders and a $3 off $12 in shampoo and conditioner or hair product when i was getting 4 head n shoulders.i had to add two suave and use the $3 off 2 coupon and so the crt would scan. Hope i made sense.

    I went to CVS yesterday I had everything plan to do the deal of loreal shampoo and Maybelline make up to pay nothing out of pocket using 3 different purchase based coupons and more mf coupons and the cashier told me that only 1 of them will work . Which one do you want to use? I said $10 of 30 of course. And I paid only $4 because I had $ 8 extra bucks + mf coupons. And I got my $10 extra bucks. I made two more transactions the second was completely free and the last one was $ 4 and got $3 extra bucks back. Some time we have everything plan and coupons don't work or the items aren't there, but we need to try.

    I REALLY don't think that's correct. But I have found that if you purchase say 3 items for $10 totalling $30. If you use a crt for $3 off the items, it will drop your total below $30 so you won't get any $10 when you spend $30. I was told when you use a Spend crt or circular ad deal it takes off any other CVS coupons before it calculates the total for the spend. The manufacturing coupons don't apply till later. That cashier is misinformed. Not an unusual problem. Even when you call corporate you can get misinformation. I'm always amazed that a fortune 500 company can have important personnel that don't know their own policies. So sorry about your experience. This week I dealt with a cashier who was new and didn't know how to add my coupons that I loaded to my card. And the worst is the store doesn't have a manager scheduled for the evening shift in a 24 hour store. So, I couldn't do any of my deals either. All that money making Colgate deals gone to waste.
