With this win, Alabama claimed its 16th national championship and 4th of the Nick Saban era.

Not the best ever. They didn’t even face a top 30 offense all of the regular season. That’s why Clemson lit em up when they finally faced one.
How are you classifying a "top 30 offense?" In terms of average yardage, Alabama played five of the top 30 offenses in 2016. In terms of average points, they played four of the top 30. Anyway, the 1985 Chicago Bears couldn't have stopped an offense if they were allowed to just openly block defensive backs the way that Clemson did on two of their second half touchdowns.
