- Today I’m starting a series on the program called “Saving This Junk Kit”
Basically I’m going to be building kits from junkers and bag kits missing parts, broken pieces, etc.
So come along and join me while we save vintage styrene!!
"One man's junk is another man's treasure!" The ol' Gran Torino turned out very nice! 😊
Really great 😊job
I love the way you painted the under carriage.
Great job on this model Louie! I had a '73 Grand Torino Sport, 351 and a C-4 automatic. Mine was the dark metallic green with factory rallies. Bought it in '78 from my Companies Major when I got out of the Army. Had it for years, great car.
Great idea for a series - I like saving old junk kits, too. If fact I'm about to finish JoHan's '63 & '64 Fury converts; I got both as bags of loose parts that needed a dive into my spars to complete. Well done!
Great job! I had a real 72 Gran Torino that color in high school, but without the hood scoop and stripes.
Ford - Get off my lawn - Torino. Very nice
Excellent rendition of a true muscle car of the ‘70s. You have a special talent to be able to take a simple “Snap Together” model and make a beautiful curbside display. The detailing is very accurate. I am also impressed with your knowledge of the Ford Motor Company. Well done!
Thank you so very much!!
That turned out awesome, Louie! Love the green!👍
Loui you really out did yourself this time, that model looks awesome,.
Very well done on the Gran Torino Louie! Love that metallic Green and that interior looks amazing with the flocking carpet!
AWESOME.... great build, good job saving it from the scrap pile.....MOPAR 4 EVER.
Turned out amazing! I really like the underside detailing that you do. Great job Sir
The ol' Gran Torino turned out very nice! , thanks for sharing.
I'm not a green fan but that color just looks right on that car.
Really wish Revell or Round2 would put out a fully detailed kit of this car, you did an amazing job with this promo. Also nice to see Rays decals be mentioned, I’ve bought his decal sheet for the 74 Pontiac Ventura GTO and they were stellar.
My very first car at age 16 was a 72 Torino, with that same hood and we put a 429 big block in it. Way too much car for a 16 year old kid, but man was it fun! 😎
Wow, Louie! That looks great! I did not know the laser stripe goes all the way to the back! I must be confusing myself with the 70 & 71 Torino where the laser stripes stop before the rear wheel wells. That model reminds me of Clint Eastwoods movie, The Gran Torino! " Get off my lawn!!!"
Love 72 torinos! Had a coupe with a 351 Cleveland cobra jet. And a72 gran torino sport coupe. Miss them so much.
When I was little, my mom had almost the same car you built. Hers didn't have the side decals and had the Magnum 500 style wheels. I need to try to find one of these kits to build for her. Great work!
Louie it sure looked like You had a great time rebuilding that kit! The end result looks Fantastic too! I like Your new video series looks like a real winner! Thank You for sharing! Take Care, Be Safe, God Bless, Later
Really awesome! I think this is a series that will stick around for ages my friend. Well done, looking forward to what is next up.
I remember getting this model as a kid. My uncle Bob bought the full sized 1972 Gran Torino Sport in silver. He got one for my brother and one for me. He was also my Godfather. Had this assembled for years.
Great job! I like this style, bringing old kits back to life. I have a couple I'm working on. Looking forward to the next one.
Turned out great, love the green, it is perfect. Looks like one I looked at at a used car dealer back in 1980-81, That one had a 351 CJ and a white interior, but the same green color. Thanks!
That did turn out real nice! Definitely worth saving. Those kits are going up in value
Mighty fine big green machine you got there, your restored Gran Torino looks great!
Great save Louie!! Really come out fantastic, the paint choice is perfect!!
That looks awesome, the green really pops great details on the chassis going to like this new series buddy
Nice. Those side stripes really seal the deal. I remember seeing those on the road back then.
Neat. Have done a lot of repair/ rebuild, I can't say no to bag kits 😆.
Many thanx for the vid 👍👍
The car looks Fantastic, nice job on the build! BTW- You could have removed that black paint by spraying it with oven cleaner, like Easy Off.... it would have stripped it right down to the bare plastic... after that washed it in soap and water, sanded it, and then primed it for painting.
Nice job Louie! This kit is one of my Holy grails
Great job on the Torino, I had a light yellow one when I was younger.
That's a sweet build Louie, love how it turned out
Awesome job buddy, very nice details for a curbside model 👍😎❤
Looks great mate ,you wouldn't know it was junk to start with ,you did a great job.
Bro! You’re a sharpie master! Lol GREAT BUILD and that deserved a sub!! Looking forward to more!!
Cool idea for a series. You and I have very similar tastes. Great save of a cool kit. I have one of these with a broken A pillar. I hope I can save it like you did. Awesome work.
Lou,
That Torino came out awesome sir.
Nice save Louie & thanks for the shoutout for Rays Kits Decals North America!
You’re welcome!!
Awesome ideal I have tons of that stuff
The wheel from the James Bond 71 mustang would look good too
WOW Louie Never Knew Johan did Snap Kits
Great idea!! Looking forward to more!!
A neat completion of a rare kit ; )
I've got a promo plus a oval track version to build a replica of my 73. I'm all in! Just subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub!
Turned out really nice. Great job. I have a couple of those MIB, and I been thinking on building one soon. This sparked the interest 😀
The Green paint was a good choice, it looks awesome
Beautifully refurbed! 🖖🏼
Nice build, turned out quite NICE.
Love the torino Loui. I love junk kits so much. it's what I base my channel on😊 I'll be looking forward to more. Always great to see these vintage models saved.
You do such beautiful work. I can't wait to see the next one
Thank you 😊
wow i also enoyed watching this great work cheers
Beautiful work, I specially love the bottom of the car, it looks superb. You need new brushes😊 JoHan produced great kits, I have the Chrysler Turbine car, it's the most beautiful kit I ever saw, the packaging was amazing with sprues interlocked with pins and holes, and the chrome looks real. I don't want to build it, it's too pretty. Congratulations on that great build👍🏻
Yeah my equipment is getting pretty rough. 😝 Thank you for watching!!
Heck of a find!
Nice build
that rough 'ol girl cleaned up nice!, i could see my self owning a real one same colors, you got everything spot on!, love the revival!
That Torino looks amazing
Nice job with this one !! Your new serie of saving old junk is a bright idea. Nice to have you back on the Chanel 😃
That's one sweet Torino.
Great job buddy
Love it Louie!!!
I bought two of them Jo-Han torino kits, built one in deep metallic green....left the second one I left in the box....It went together well and I was super happy with it. With the stripes and the two tone rims?...MAN that turned out GREAT!!!!! BTW... have you ever seen the 77 olds cutlass model by Jo-Han, same kind of box, i got two from the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago ages ago!!
Thank you!! I do have the olds cutlass version as well. Red car on the box. They are fun simple kits. Happy Modeling
@@TheAutisticModeler Ha!! Cool!!🙂
Hey , awesome work there, very clean looking finish! I'd love to have a Jo-han kit. I've been trying to get a hearse kit and Jo-han has the one I want. It's to bad their so expensive and hard to find.
Great video.
This got you a new follow.
I look forward to more of this kind of thing!
Thank you 😊. I appreciate it
Nice job on the resurrection.
nice redou been thinkin long and hard on gettin this kit thx 4 sharing 😁🤩scooter😎ps great vid nice tip on the glass gotta try that😅
Real good job that will turn out real good
Hey there! Great work!
Looks great!
I would have an overwhelming desire to paint it red and put a white stripe along both sides and over the top of the rear part of the roof, for some reason..
Nice flocking job.
Un beau résultat !! Congrest
That is sweet brother i love it
Dude that is so cool
Can't beleive years ago could go and shop for a model car and pick out paint from a rack, all gone.
Awesome !
You should have flocked the headliner too.
Just joined your channel, been over 20 years since i built a kit. Have 65 plus built and stashed away. your videos make me want to restore them all, because I never had any luck getting a gloss finish with spray products. Looks to me that the Duplicolor & Rustoleum do well for you. Which one is better? I know that airbrushing also gives the best results, but it is way too time consuming. Also I have the same kit in this video, painted it maroon, but no high gloss shine.
I use both products all the time. Duplicolor you have to use clear. These paints are tricky. Some things don’t get along well together. A lot of trial and error. Test out your skills on a junker body first. Test the reaction of the paints together. Thank you for your support!! Happy Modeling.
Niiiiiice!! 😎
Build the models the way you want to, custom, stock or drag just be creative
Fantastic job, do you have any suggestions or comments about paint always cracking I've been having a lot of issues with it thank you in advance
Sounds like the paint doesn’t like the primer or is an incompatible brand.
Sure takes me back so the question MPC, AMT or Monogram?
I like MPC because of the kits they made. I’ll build any brand though. Thanks for watching!!
AWESOME JOB MY FRIEND!😀👍
Your friend Tom from Ottawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 eh!...
Great job. What colors/kinds of bottled paint did you use on the chassis ?
The blue is Mr hobby and silvers are Testors the black is Apple barrel.
Great save! What blue and gret paint did you use!
The blue is Mr hobby. The green was shown in the video. I don’t remember at this moment
What did you use to darken the grill and what did you put over top of the decals? thank you for the decal business card, I'm always in need of decals.
Both are Tamiya products. Mark set for the decals and Black panel liner for the grille. Thank you so much for watching!! Happy Modeling
No problem. Excellent job on the reclamation project. I'm Matt2 from Modeling with the Matt's. Model On!
what glue was you useing for the flocking.i also try to save some old junkers i pick up sometimes
I use the wet paint on the floor as shown in my video.
Was the Ford blue Mr color you used enamel?
Thanks Louie
It was enamel. Thanks 😊
Question for you when doing older kits or used kits what do you use to strip old paint?
I use Dave’s Magic Stripper. It’s for models. Doesn’t hurt the plastic
@@TheAutisticModeler Awesome Thank you.
Does round2 still send you kits.
Yes they do. Thanks for watching
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe 🚘🚘👍👍😎😎
