This method for getting from LaGuardia to Penn Station utilizes mass transit which is great and affordable. It's still crazy that for a city as wealthy as NYC with such an extensive train network doesn't have a direct train connection to the airport from center city
The bus isn't that inconvenient and it's still possible to get to the city with a $2.75 fare. The AirTrain may be more convenient but it's also much more expensive.
@@AshmewStudios Agreed as my comment stated affordable and available mass transit. The point is that it's surprising to me that a city as wealthy as NYC and with such an extensive rail system isn't linked up by rail to its two major airports (LaGuardia and JFK- I know that JFK has sort of a train- Airtrain, but I mean heavy rail).
@@PhilipSalen Exactly. Also, in the past some FAA regulation required the construction of an AirTrain like system because it didn’t allow the subway systems do directly connect into the terminals. That has since changed. The AirTrain is very controversial because it goes the opposite direction, may crowd the 7 line, and might be even slower than the bus + subway. They really need to extend the subway to LaGuardia
@@AshmewStudios the amount of political willpower and money to make a train go to the airports would make anyone's head spin. Lots of land buying, NIMBYs, contracts, environmental studies, etc etc...

Thanks again for the ways to get to downtown Manhattan without spending a fortune. Helpful and will go this route when I finally visit NYC. Thanks again Kenneth.
I stay on the UWS when I visit NY, and take the M60 bus from LGA to 116th and Broadway by Columbia University, then transfer to the 1 train. Takes a long time, but involves only one transfer and avoids having to navigate changing trains at Times Square with luggage. I agree that for anyone going to Midtown, your route is the best option.
Time was definitely on your side today, and a promotional Free bus ride from LaGuardia Airport interesting. This really can be a quick journey depending on traffic and subway trains for $2.75 I'm impressed thanks so much Ak for the information and tips excellent 👍.
Thank you, I know you moved but I will be going to NYC and your video helped me find a route from the airport to where I'll be staying. When google maps told me there is no route. Thanks!
Thank you so much again. Today I successfully took myself to queensbridge thanks to your video. I took the F and it was the next stop ❤️ confidently doing that when I have to go back to airport next week.
I was visiting NYC from Los Angeles in July 2019. I still have my Metro card and it was $2.75 back then....NY was so much cheaper to travel than DTLA. It takes forever to get around in los angeles than NYC.
ActionKid my NYC friend, that was a dominating video riding the Q70 LGA Link SBS Bus for $2.75 to the Jackson Heights Roosevelt Ave Station once you also ride the F express Train like where the E train goes to Times Square 42nd St Station New York City and I'm liking it! Woohoo for another $2.75 bus and subway ride and with no delays this time! 😃 It was nice to see some street views of Jackson Heights. Thank you for sharing this informative video, AK! 🤗
Great to see this video. Was in NYC a couple of weeks ago...before the free fares. I stayed in the UWS so I took the M60. It is a local bus, lots of stops. Maybe it is best to use the Q70 regardless of what part of Manhattan you're going to. Thanks
Many years ago when I used to live in The Bronx, there used to be a commercial that came on "take the train to the plane" very catchy tune. But think it was more for going to JFK.
$62 dollars for the exp bus weekly pass and with the select buses (SBS) if you cannot show proof of payment they have inspectors who are called the eagle team their like police and they issue $100 summonses…the Q70 is amazing but it’s a headache when traffic hits the BQE

I’m traveling tomorrow and using this video to help save some money. Hopefully I can get an answer in time but how difficult is it to bring a large suitcase on the bus and in the subway?
Good luck! Shouldn’t be too challenging since you’ll be getting on the bus at the first stop. You might have an issue with the subway though depending on how crowded it is but they come pretty frequently.
Being poor, somehow I navigated from Newark Airport to Queens Village, Howard Johnson by way Penn Station to Jackson Heights Subway Station to Jamaica Avenue and walked about 2 1/2 miles to my hotel. It was not easy arriving hot and sweaty, so I showered and called it a day.
This is an informative video for people that don't travel to LGA or NYC often. It's a shame NYC spent billions on the terminal upgrade yet the only connection to the subway is still the bus. At least they could have put in a ferry to Manhattan but they didn't even do that. It will take years and billions of dollars more before they have an air train at LGA. When I go to NYC I go to JFK & ride the air train or HPN and take the bus to metro north and it's a straight shot to Grand Central. HPN is a smaller and less congested airport and traffic on the roads is not too bad. FLY NAVY!!!
Be careful on the Subway, do not stay out too late especially after drinking. Guard your drink, so no one can dope you. Leave your passport in the safe at the hotel. It's weird that LaGuardia is literally across the river from the Upper Eastside/Harlem. Why wouldn't the city build a tunnel under the East River directly into the city? Or a tram-like JFK that can go down a few miles on the Grand Central into Astoria and link to the W or N line.
Because of you I was able to come to New York and get around like I have lived there all my life thank you

LGA to Manhattan, we followed your steps and we did great! 2.75 pp Perfect

The R is a direct connect to Times Square but like action said it’s longer cause the R is local from queens to Brooklyn
I feel its faster to take the Q70 sbs and take the E. The F stops at bryant park and the walk is a bit further than port authority.
