These videos are still relevant. Been playing for a little over a year, still haven't tamed one of these guys. Still playing on my ase, I think I'm finally gonna get one of these, already gonna name it Nessie
Same, I just tamed two of last night and then blue screened sometime after, hopefully I still got em!! I went on a taming spree and nabbed a Dunkly, two pleisiosaurs. An angler fish, couple dolphins and a couple megs, (one was a Purty Blue!!) 😊 I was so happy!! Til I bluescreened!! Lol
That was the hardest rule I learnt when I 1st started playing Ark "Never take anything into a cave or ocean that you aren't prepared to lose forever" I learnt that the hard way lmao
Did you know what most people think of as a plesiosaur is actually a elasmosaurus the plesiosaur being much smaller with a shorter neck full size only reaching about three metres while the elasmosaurus can reach 14 metres and has a much longer neck for it body size. I know this isn’t relevant but I thought it would be a cool little bit of information
I feel like the plesiosaur suffers from being a worse version of the mosa. They spawn in the same place, they both have platform saddles, but the mosa has a tek saddle. At the point where you can get a plesiosaur you may as well get a mosa. If it was up to me I’d make it so you can get the plesiosaur much earlier, perhaps same level ish you get the para platform saddle so you can have that first ocean platform mount. Maybe make them spawn on the surface aswell
Look for Plesiosaurs near the little pearl caves scattered around. Have it try to follow you inside and get stuck in the entrance, then start a tranqin'! Once it starts swimming away hop on a dolphin and chase it down.
@@ianimations1656 I can understand that, I play on Ragnarok more for the map and the geological features which are absent on the Island and many other maps. The only thing being that creatures aside, it's a decent bit more habitable than the Island depending on where you live, which reduces the challenge of it.
I tamed a mosasaur with a low level ichyosaurus so I can tame just about any under water knock out tame. I wish I could show you but I didn’t record it :(
Taming things in the water is a super stressful experience because I cannot stand being out in open water. The fact that the stuff at the lower depths are so huge doesn’t help. Guess I’ll stick with my Sarcosuchus and Megalodons.
Yep, just lost my bary today in the depths. All because of jellyfish stunned me and alpha shark along with 20 thousand mantas finished him off. Had to go back with a fast sarco to gather my gear.
just fyi, it is possible to build a taming pen from a raft. obviously you need to build down to the proper depth, but it can be done :) edit:of course, you could also build a taming pen on the platform saddle of another plesiosaur. but that won't help you with your first tame ;)
Is it me or does the Plesiosaur have a ridiculously small damage radius? I'm always finding myself getting nibbled on while trying to line up a bite attack just right to get a hit.
Hey phlinger I really enjoy your videos, and I wanted to ask that why in the island map there isn’t any beavers or beaver dams, I looked for so long and nothing
I'm not Phlinger but I hope you don't mind me answering anyway. There are beaver dams. I've had the best luck on the NE side of the redwoods where the river forks off and goes north away from the redwoods and then follows the redwoods west and south. Also in the Hidden grotto you can usually find some. They are other places around, but that's where I've had the best luck. If you aren't finding any, kill everything in sight. I believe they share spawns with fish and so just clear out everything and you'll get some spawning in.
I love the Plesiosaur, maybe even more than Mosa because of how faster they are. When i saw the Leedsich i thought "You better don't hit it".... and a damage number pop-up "Oh great now we have this guy too, ok then fish-sticks for everyone" Muahahahaha Also on Ark Mobile (That i used to play) I had a bug when sometimes in underwater, the terrain didn't load up fast enough and i suddenly was inside an underwater cave riding my dying-cause-it's-out-of-the-water-Plesi, i quickly close the app and thank God it load me a bit further than i was.
Not really. Jellyfish are very slow and easy to see. They're aren't OP at all. They're also easy to kill with a good quality Crossbow. They're only OP if you're not paying attention. I use my Sarco underwater all the time, ignoring Jellyfish when I see them.
He did a for science video on tranq arrows vs. harpoon in soloing the ark season 4. I believe he was taming a mosa. Basically, harpoons require way too many resources. Once you get a higher level crossbow there's really no need to mess with harpoons.

Definitely too complicated of a tutorial. I would suggest just taking a Sarco and kiting while shooting at the Plesi to knock it out. That's how I got my first Plesi. No breeding dinos to imprint or anything. Sarco is fast enough to outrun most things in the ocean. No need for a Baryonyx to fight them off.
Man I love how half this video was perfect examples of why sea taming is so hard.
The sea bronto is finally anounced
I think they’re more like sea paraceratheriums actually
tbh....their hitbox when attacking needs a rework
Junayed A.A paracertherium are mammals though
Evie Stainton so?
Junayd A.A than what is the sea bronto
I feel like the baryonyx icthy combo is unnecessary. A sarco is about as tanky as a baryonyx but way faster. Can fire off the back of them too
Agreed

I don't like playing on the island because of the damn fog and the higher level tames are rarer on this map.
The amount of alphas are really nice though
The first map I ever played on was Ragnarok, purely because it has more or less everything the Island has disregarding bosses and a decent bit more.
I play on console so I can't get level 150 on the island but I can on other maps
that's actually why i play the island exclusively, I enjoy the slower gameplay experience.
