    The order is "Bug, then Button". Think of it as "Show, then Tell", you show it what you want it to do, then you tell it to do it. This is a very common protocol for auto flight control systems.
    For example; There are many systems where the setting of the altitude bug talks to the vertical speed. When a lower altitude is selected, the autopilot sees a descent is requested and a preprogrammed vertical speed will be set upon selection of Vertical Speed.
