Suspension Fault Ends GT500 Race Early… NASA Great Lakes - PittRace July 2024

The #3 MAP Data Systems Mustang started on the pole for the American Iron wave of the NASA Great Lakes Thunder race on Saturday. Immediately upon getting the green flag, a warning on the dash appeared: Suspension fault. Speed limited to 80 mph. I maintained our line through a very fast turn 1 and fortunately the rest of the cars in the field were able to pass me without incident. The failure turned out to be related to the shock and ride height simulator installed when the OEM MagnaRide suspension was removed. We use units from Shock Delete Engineering (shockdeletes.com) and want to thank Josh and his team for promptly shipping us replacement units. Stay tuned for more content as we work with SDE to develop and test heavy-duty prototype units designed to handle the abuse of road-course racing in a high-heat environment like the GT500 front wheel well where the massive Brembo GT4 brakes sit.
