In this au: at 0:41, jasper references evil spinel. Maybe, spinel turned rebellious after pink left and escaped by herself. And the crystal gems found her and through a few millennia, she became the sweet spinel in this AU.

1:Pink Diamond abandoned spinel but a few years before Steven is born I’m talking like 100 years so she still has the trauma which is essential to her character but has time to get over her vengful thoughts and accept her trauma before Steven is born rose quarts goes back and gets her
Or
2: Instead of leaving with the diamonds Steven convinces her to stay and the diamonds just straight up don’t show
