Why is it called 3 Musketeers? It was named after the Alexandre Dumas novel (characters: d'Artagnan, Aramis, and Porthos). The candy bar originally came in 3 flavors; hence the name. You could buy chocolate (like you tasted), strawberry (covered in chocolate, but berry inside), and vanilla (white inside). Decades ago, the strawberry and vanilla flavors were discontinued. The only other candy maker that did this was for Charleston Chew (that came in many flavors).
