I wouldn't spend $600 on a Goldfish. The ones you showed are beautiful, but not $600 beautiful. I do really love those color patterns. I do recognize that it takes a while to grow them out to that size, so raising costs are more. I have one Fancy Goldfish currently. His name is Nugget and he lives outside in my tub pond. I paid $40 for him at Petco. He was one of the bigger Goldfish and the most expensive individual fish I've ever purchased. He has the funniest little quirky personality. 😊 I love him very much. 💖
Goldfish are satisfying to grow out, breed and care for. There is a lot of work that goes into breeding, selecting and culling. But the joy of watching your 0.6mm fry grow into a beast is the most fascinating part. They go from drab brownish/silver into some amazing patterns. A gift that keeps on giving.
for every 5000 fry you end up culling 80% if your lucky. most probably only 10-5% will have show potential. Thats why its expensive. the other 80% is not destroyed but rather sold in petshops as pet quality.
I had 3 awesome goldfish. Unfortunately my sister cleaned the aquarium to be nice and they all died 😢 they were beautiful, black and gold, white and orange, and one that looked like a panda we called Cracky, he swam a ton for a goldfish. They had a lot of personality, each had their unique quirks. They were really big too!😢 it was so funny to see them "yawn" sometimes too. Will miss them
Fancy goldfish are beautiful, I love orandas in particular. I used to have two orandas but I didn't have good success with them 😔. They're are not beginner fish they require special care and diet.
For me, now, $150 is the maximum to pay for goldfish. Just for information, even with that range of price, it's just for medium level of breeders, the fish for show or dedicated breeders, maybe around thousands USD
I keep ranchu and orandas, I haven't gone that expensive though. Ranchu have AMAZING personalities and are super funny. We had one that would swim into your hand.
I love them! But would not spend that much! Maybe buy small at a way lower price and watch them grow up and see what they turn out to look like! That would be a fun project!🙂❤
I'll admit that the colors are pretty awesome but I find these body types unappealing. I don't see the point in creating a fish that is disabled. No sale!
yes, they are. that is a lot of effort, but you know this already. i know breeders (some) have a lifelong effort in that work and they earned it. someone buys a breeding pair from you, they got the blueprints, id ask for more personally. and no i dont want gold fish like you
I wouldn't spend that much money on a fish but I do see why these are going for that price. They're gorgeous.

OMG the Koi colored ones are gorgeous! I don't know if they can live alone, but I would LOVE one in a nice display tank. I would do $300 LOL
Goldfish really doesn't care if they are alone or in a group. But I swear get a trio and see them play with each other. It just multiple the joy x10
Gorgeous fish! My favorite kind of fish :-)
They are gorgeous!
I love them, 🥰 have 12 myself. But did not pay so much😁
✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️thanks
I think there like the fat little bulldogs of the fish world lol but 600 dollars even 200 dollars is just a little much for me
