I discovered Riverside on Internet Radio back in 2007 and never looked back! They are on the Top of my list of Favorite Bands along with Marillion and many others.. I have had the pleasure of meeting the entire Band here in Philadelphia back in 2015 at a small venue. This particular song Lyric tells of how the World is DONE with the Tyranny being pushed on every one of us across the Planet...
This is my favourite band - i found them a few months ago and now own nearly all of their albums : ) I just wish they would come to New Zealand and i have a major crush on Mariuz ♡♡♡
I am.VERY excited for their new album .....i found them.through watching another gr8 band - Porcupine tree and they were recommended many times in the comments so i had to check them out and SO stoked that I did : ))
I really like this song, a lot of old prog in there. My brother loves Riverside and I am slowly getting more into them and pre-ordered this one based solely off this single!
Unfortunately this single is not available where I live, on Spotify/Tidal 😳 at least I can watch the music video on YT. Their previous albums with the same label are available, which makes it strange.
I love the new song Jim. Especialy as Im polish living in UK and Iv been a fan ever since their first album. And You dont live too far from me mate so glad I found Your channel. A big fan of Riverside and Your content.
I really like this. Reminds me of early 'Amplifier' with the production values of 'Porcupine Tree'. If you like this you should try 'The Octopus' and 'Amplifier' albums by 'Amplifier'.
Great! Can't wait for the album! Quick reminder about the Riverside's keyboard master, Michal Lapaj solo album Are You There that came out in the meantime :)
I love this new single. On repeat all day.I am very excited for new album as well.Hopefully they will tour in UK next year!U have to check out Maciej Meller solo album Zenith and Michal Lapaj solo album! They are both incredible!
We’re not done with you either😋 ‘Out of myself’ is the last album I bought. I like them very much. This new song sounds great. Love it. This is the type of metal I like the most. Ever heard of the band Riverwood? Egyptian progressive metal band. Their last album Shadow and Flames is great.
Happy Friday, Jim! Excellent tune! I've just added it to one of my playlists. I'm surprised they're nearly unknown here. Nobody in my social circle has ever heard of them.
Good single....still haven't got into my copy of Wasteland as yet really...even I know it's up my street....but this song is extremely likable straight away. Love the strut of the drums and lyrics. Has a contemporary Opeth feel but is different too👍👍👍
Many Lunatic Soul influences. I am looking forward for the rest of the new music especially the long tracks. I am missing songs as from early albums. But it will be difficult as an original gituarist (Piotr) died.
Just FYI - Mariusz Duda also releases music under his own name on Bandcamp, and he has some really great stuff he recorded and released during the pandemic. Riverside are among my favorite bands, however what drew me to them initially was their guitarist Piotr Grudzinski (sp?)who has since passed away. He was amazing - one of the underappreciated greats, in my opinion. RIP.
Got me thinking about bass players who play out in front. I could think of Geezer Butler and Geddy Lee. I haven't seen anywhere how your Live Marillion experience went. I hope you enjoyed it.
Not out until 20th January 2023 I'm afraid. I was hoping the new guitarist would bring in a different style but sounds a bit generic. I've got all their albums, The double soundscapes album with tracks from the special editions of the original albums plus some new ones was in honour of Piotr not Wasteland. Anyway, I know I'll get it without listening first probably the 2cd and Blu Ray for the surround sound. We'll have to wait and see if the rest of it is any different, we know it's going to be good, sounds like their going back to being a little heavier again. 👍 Guitarist as been with them for a while now so should be well bedded in.
Yup, I realised that after uploading! Doh! I know it isn’t technically in honour of Piotr, but it certainly feels like it in many places, especially Vale Of Tears, Guardian Angel, Lament, The Day After….
Love that fuzz-driven opening bass line. The new guitarist's tone and solo and embellishments, melodies and amp/pedal effects remind me very much of his predecessor's grand moving overarching melodic sensibilities. The lyrics put me off as dark, even Nihilist. Not sure of their context. Perhaps the other songs might enlighten me. What is the "poison" that infects his 'soul?" I don't want it to be some broad malaise. It must be specific, and who exactly is the person whose "soul" is being "poisoned?" I (72 yrs old) mostly just get into the music itself rather than lyrics. After all, I've already experienced all that suffering, malaise and such over the decades. Each generation slaves they may be, but it's a choice not a given.
Very interesting thought-provoking comment. It begs for further elaboration, perhaps not here but elsewhere. I was unaware that Riverside's lyrics might inform as to their take on, say 🇺🇦 or NATO, the EU and so on, especially if that view were in opposition to the current Polish government's position. I know that as an American I have been alienated from at least '68 when I graduated high school.
A very close pronunciation to Polish name Maciej might be in English something like this: matchiey. Check this out ruclips.net/video/NEP5RMz67MM/видео.html
Not sure of your knowledge of the guitarist who replaced Piotr Grudzinski, Maciej Meller, who was a singer and guitarist for another outstanding Polish band, Quidam. He also put out an amazing solo album last year called Zenith. He also did a one-off with Marius Duda
I'm starting to like this song more and more!
Got some nice bass work for you to decipher!
Found them last week on radio, what a band !

@@maro6041 where are you in relation to MK?
To me, "Rapid Eye Movement" from them will always be my favorite. I think it's a pretty underated album from them.
Agree! So is watershed and damnation from opeth

I have not! Thanks for the suggestion 😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@JimNewstead Karnataka with the album Secrets of Angels isn’t bad either.
Happy Friday, Jim!
Excellent tune! I've just added it to one of my playlists. I'm surprised they're nearly unknown here. Nobody in my social circle has ever heard of them.
Seriously? Such a great band!!!
Happy Friday, and weekend 👍🏼
@@JimNewstead I myself didn't know of them before your Wasteland playthrough.
@@MaraxisArcanist I love that! 😁

Sounds great. Loved Wasteland too.
My favorite song of Id.Entity, love it!
Just get Love, Fear and The Time Machine just for the song Time Travellers. The rest of the album is a bonus.
I’m intrigued!
LOVE IT
I like wasteland, and walking on a flashlight, but love fear and time machine is fantastic, both cds ,am surprised you haven't got it
That's my second listen, and so far... I love it! :)
Devin also does some of those soundscape guitars in some things - Casualties of Cool for example.
Yes he does!

Marillion was awesome…. I should have done a review but I think too much time’s drifted and it isn’t relevant anymore.
Hey Jim! Bonus Friday! Let's go!😎
Bingo!
@@JimNewstead ⭐⭐😎
never a doubt
They have too good many songs , DNA song is amazing .. truly they are underrated ..
Hey Jim, I’ll give it a go
Release date 20/1/2023
Thanks 👍🏼
Great stuff, I have a request, Was it all Worth it”, by Queen from The Miracle Album
Hmmm, I don’t have that record! Good choice 😁
I saw your interview with Dr. Doug, I’ve been part of Helvering’s Army for over a year, great guy
Didn't know that 😱😱😱
Just imagine that with Piotr...!

Have you reacted to Lighthouse by Iamthemorning and Mariusz Duda? It's just wonderful, esp. the part when he starts singing.
I haven’t!
Trying hard to not beat the drum( you're already buried enough!!!😂)

You can tell that Mariusz is super angry about situation in Poland (covid stupidity, corrupted politcians controled by World Economic Forum etc.)
