Both of our protagonists experience a heavy grief that becomes one of the turning points in their life. It becomes one of the heavy baggages that Naruto and Sasuke carry... But the pain keeps them aware, keeps them sane, keeps them cautious. It adds to the collection of experiences that they grow from so they don’t make the same mistakes in the future.

First time I saw this opening I felt a sense of dread for my favorite character, and when the time finally came it genuinely broke me apart. I had to go on a walk to clear my head at 4am. I felt such a palpable loss in that moment. But, oddly enough, I felt that I needed to stick it out. For Jiraiya, for Naruto, for Sasuke, for Itachi. And lo and behold, that's what these lyrics are all about; holding onto the memories of those you love to carry you through the darkest of times. I know this is lame to a lot of people but I don't care. This show kept me alive and gave me one of the most meaningful pieces of media I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Thank you for your cover. This is my favorite opening from Naruto and possibly from anime

Jiraya was always rejected by Tsunade, wasn't able to stop his friend Orochimaru and to save his sensei Sarutobi and his student Minato, his three students were supposed to be dead, and finally he was betrayed and killed right by them, but he always smiled and never lost his hope that things in Shinobi world could turn better. Itachi carried on his shoulders all the regret and the hate of his clan towards the Hidden Leaf Village, the pain of having killed all his clan and his parents, the hate of his brother, the secret of having (unwilling) killed his best friend Shisui and the girl who loved him. Both of them carried on an incredible pain originated from their failures, actions and secrets, but they never lost the hope behind all those hidden tears. And Naruto and Sasuke made that hope coming true.
for a long time i was confused if its more of itachi saying to sasuke or jiraya-naruto thing. its definetly is from itachi"s perpective as you cannot deny to notice itachi is conveying to sasuke " this pain is your protection" " the pain will be protecting you" meaning that through uchiha massacre refering to " tears dropped from sky" itachi has sealed pain withinin sasuke and that this very pain has protected you ever since and will continue to protect sasuke and to never forget "sign" from itachi.omg! i was hit to core, when i first read english traslation in some website and this cover song did a good job too.

I'm late as heck to the party, but this is by far the absolute best English cover of any Japanese songs I've ever heard. Usually covers like this suffer from bad translations and/or bad sound quality, but this is top notch in every way. The original song lyrics were heavily emotion but lost none of their power or meaning in this translation, especially since it was sung in the same tone as the original, fantastic voice, and top tier quality audio. The opening to season 1 of Psycho-Pass, Ling Tosite Sigure - Abnormalize, would be another, somewhat similar, awesome heart wrenching cover to do, I don't think anyone else could pull it off so I'm just throwing it out there.
