    My sister recently left Emirates after working for them for 5 years. She’s writing a book with plenty of resources despite her NDA. She’s moved from Dubai as she fears repercussions. In the book, she details unreported suicides, silenced deadly accidents and bribery. Her book will be called: “I felt it before I heard it” (I’m sure many Emirates CC will know what this means).

      And yes, that title is the beginning of the Dubai landing commercial video. Good title!

    Bruh, I know someone who works on an Emirates Cabin crew. The enforcement of these really strict rules falls on the supervisors. Super chill supervisors generally don't care if you read or are on your phone. Each crew just kind of has their own system to make sure that they're alert to calls when they come in and that the work gets divided up properly. The reason for this is the supervisors like to use their phones too, lol.

    Thanks for this video. Every job has its downside but the biggest horror is people not being aware of it and going for it expecting only the benefits. If you can handle these downsides and if you're confident what I believe is you can make it. If this is what you love you must go for it but never expect for all glamour.
    Please do a video about How working as Emirates cabin crew changed your life. What you've learnt. What you really appreciate about this job. Have a nice week ahead.

      I will definitely do a video on that! We had such a good time in Emirates! I agree on everything you said.
      16 hours flight and 12 hours of pure sitting down with no sleep, no book, no reading, ONLY speaking is bad bad bad. Your brain will fry like this. People need to know this ahead of time before joining.
      It's just bad for your health to NOT challenge your brain.
      We believe that a healthy life is a life where you challenge yourself and your mind with new things. Joining only for the money and the travel is not worth it. You'll kill your brain, soul, existence. A human being is worth much more than being confined to doing nothing in a flying tube.
      My humble recommendation is: enjoy the job, earn the experience and money. Do it for 5-6 years and then, once you feel you got some good good experience and memories out of it, quit!
      Flying for a living is a punishment to your body and a waste of your potential by doing absolutely nothing.
      1/3 of your life is sleep
      1/3 of your life is work
      1/3 of your life is recovering from work + some travel experience
      Worth it? Only for a limited amount of time

    • @sayurudehigaspitiya8146
      @sayurudehigaspitiya8146 5 лет назад +8

      Another big con for me is Staying away from Family. Right now you might be having dinner, lunch or breakfast with your family talking about random things while laughing and joking but when you join you won't be able to do it. You might miss every single second you spent with them. At sometimes your flatmates won't be home as well and you'll be all alone. Having your food with no one around. That would be really depressing.
      Don't be trapped in Pros.
      Also don't be trapped in these Cons.
      Follow your heart and do what you love.
      I won't say fly for 5-6 years but fly till you feels like not to.

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  5 лет назад +6

      Great comment again! Agree!
      Sometimes you have terrible flat mates and you can't make it any longer.
      Emirates might not help you move out or change your flat mates so you'll get stuck with them for a long time.
      And the worst as you said, when your family has an event of any sort (baby is born, birthday, business success, wedding, death in family, etc) you won't be there! Skype doesn't work since it's banned in Dubai! So you're really locked out.
      You may apply for emergency leave (sudden holidays) but Emirates needs certificates (certifying the wedding or death or whatever event it is) and often ignores them since they have small workforce at the moment and large amount of flights to operate.
      No wonder why many cabin crew are depressed, chronically partying and some commit suicide.
      If you start off positive and love flying, you'll come through. It's passion and friends that will give you the way.
      Once you get to Dubai, create your family there. It'll be hard but that's the only way to overcome loneliness.

      Correct!
      But many of us boycott it.
      Dubai says its cosmopolitan, open minded, technologically advanced and YET they make you pay to be in touch with your loved ones.
      Everywhere in the world it's free of charge, Skype works everywhere! It's plain internet!
      Who charges you to communicate with your family over the internet? What a dumb, contradicting thing they did..
      And internet is 85 dollars per month! Isn't that more than enough money?
      Some things are so terrible.. Eheh

      @@WishCasting Yes indeed you are right with the newspaper or a book.
      This is in our company normal to read or to do something what you want during your "free" time after the service.
      But we can't forget that EK is a Middle East Carrier and they have complete different rules than any ither carrier. They want that you are to 100% accessible for your costumers during the flight. Of course not when you are on your break in the privat space in your Bunkbed.
      When you work for EK you are living in shared Accomodations from the company and on top of that you are a flight attendant and any follow collegue would agree with me when i say your work is your life and your passion.
      Before you become a Flight Attendant you should know that when you start this career that your life will change because Flight Attendant is a Lifestyle not only a Job.
      No matter which Airline you are working for it will affect always 100% of your life. And the point is you love it or you hate it, there is no 50/50 in this Job.

    I actually am so amazed at how these FA's work in a place. I am fascinated by how glamorous they look when I see them at airports. I too had some Emirates ground crew friends at the airport and on one occasion an Emirates staff at the airport got reprimanded for sitting down,, because she had to drink her water. It was really mean. And she was just there on overtime duty to cover someone's absence. I mean in Leadership training when you reprimand someone, you don't reprimand in front of other people to see, you call your staff, to somewhere more private and reprimand her. That's how good leaders should be.

A whole life down the drain! 16 hours of your life doing absolutely nothing! Mmmh...

      That would drive me crazy. I’m ground crew and we sometimes have a bit of time between flights so we wait in the crew room in the aircraft services building. We have a kitchen, lockers, tables and chairs, vending machines and even a tv on the wall. So long as we either stay there or at least within the building or in the smoking area outside so we can be found by the supervisor and we’re ready to go when the planes are landing, nobody cares what you’re doing while waiting. (Obviously so long as we’re following the safety rules and aren’t doing anything illegal or against regulations.)
      Some of us mess around on our phones, or watch tv, chat or read. It just seems crazy that we’re treated better that Emirates flight attendants.

    I hate people who are disrespectful and always feel compelled to make complaints about others.
    The cabin crew for Middle Eastern Airlines have it tough, every time they report for work, their jobs are on the line, if a passenger makes a complaint over a little thing, a cabin crew member gets fired. What terrible working conditions, have thought about boycotting Emirates and Qatar over the way they treat staff but at the very least I refuse to make complaints.

      Hmm, could you give some examples of uniform standards please? Are the female flight attendants required to wear makeup or high heeled shoes? I’m curious because I’m still new to working as ground crew and so long as the uniform is in decent condition our priority is the PPE and the high vis vests. I don’t bother with makeup and my hair usually looks like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards after awhile working out on the airfield.

    You forgot to mention one more misery regarding the annoying behavior of some passengers that the cabin crew has to deal with. Especially Dubai to south east asian destinations. This happens immediately after the aircraft touches the ground but still moving towards the gates (taxiing). Some passengers standing up and trying to open the overhead bins as if the journey is completed and the cabin crew yelling sit down and put on your seat belts.

These people have trained to keep us safe and the rules are in place not just to pee us off. Now I understand why in the middle of a 16 hr flight the staff in the lounge are more than happy to run around and make you a cup of tea and sandwiches and look at the grandchildren photos, it’s to help keep them entertained when everybody else is asleep, I actually felt guilty. At any point the plane could take a turn for the worst and if your reading a book or anything your mind is distracted. As an FA you always need to be one step ahead, and being distracted by a book does not allow that

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  4 года назад +28

      That's seeing it in black and white. Not 100% of crew should sit down and read a newspaper, it should be done on a rotation basis (there are many hours in which there is absolutely nothing to do, I said this on many other comments, you didn't read and I'm going to repeat my self now). We work many more hours than a waiter 4 hours to report to work + 16 hours flight time + 4 hours from touch down to the hotel (with usually 2,30 h ouf break in between). It isn't the same and it can't be compared.
      PS: Airlines allow you to read as much as you want from onboard manuals (of course it's for updating your knowledge) but that distracts you just as much.
      You need to do this job to understand it. Most people will never relate.

We’re also allowed to use the onboard wifi for using whatsapp in case flights are late and we need to inform friends and family on ground or for other personal ”emergencies”. We can also use the work phones and onboard wifi to check major newspapers and news outlets during downtime. So no personal use during work except for a few exceptions. Sorry but it is basic English language. I was a Pan Am "stewardess" in the late 60's, and we had to wear girdles. The supervisors would sometimes tap your bottom to make sure that you had one on. Also, flying to some "developing" countries passengers would light fires in the aisles to cook on. I will always remember the first time that i saw blue footprints on the toilet seat. It wasn't the last time either.

    Umm this is any job, I’ve had nothing but stellar service and experiences flying internationally with Emirates, whatever is going on is working. There are standards, jerks, people who abuse their position, etc, etc, anywhere you go. Not saying it’s ok, or fun, or fair, just saying that’s the facts.
    Just to clarify, at my job we work 7/14/28 days straight, without going home. You don’t get a trophy for doing what is expected, if you follow all the rules, and do what you are paid to do you might get a raise or a promotion, maybe. At least you won’t be hassled.
    If you do get a promotion well now you are in a leadership position so you are the one who makes sure the crew is following policy. You are damned if you do and damned if you don’t, apparently.
    As consumer I do appreciate the hard work doing a difficult job, I know it’s not easy, especially dealing with the public who feel a sense of entitlement just for buying a ticket.
    So how do you know a pilot is in the room??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

      In long flights once you are done with service and you have a bit of time for yourself I don't see the problem of using your phone. Once you are done with your duties and where pax won't see you should be allowed to use your phone, read a book, a magazine or whatever you want. It is really exhausting to be on a long flight where you can't get any distraction that will keep you more awake. My own personal experience, I am more aware of everything if I can use my phone or read something when I have some free time. Those rules are just stupid.

  • @MM-gr2tq
    @MM-gr2tq 4 года назад +3

    The first one is good and should stay that way (phone ban) but the others are wrong , like I mean maybe when they’re in the stages of the flight, (takeoff, landing, descent, ascent) that requires more attention, they shouldn’t allow reading at these times since airplane accidents occur during these stages the most.

      Very unfortunate that you harshly comment on Emirates or the Asian workers.

  • @WishCasting
    @WishCasting  4 года назад +58

    For those coming here, tempted to post the usual negative comment, read this:
    - This video is of informative nature, based on true aviation experiences. If you haven't worked in the aviation industry please don't comment (cause you cannot relate at all). If you wish to comment anyways, be productive and add valuable information. We do not accept vulgarity, aggressive behavior or comments that make no sense at all.
    - Are you or have you been a waiter? A nurse? A pilot? Don't comment please, you cannot relate to this industry
    -Before reading the next point, read this: This video doesn't state that being on the phone is a good thing. It doesn't state that we want things to change so that crew can use their phones from now forward. It states that using phones is something that almost ALL crew do, and that they're afraid of being caught when they do. If your comment goes like this "Can't you understand that using a phone is unprofessional Orlando!?!" then please don't bother reading below or watching our videos
    - Phones are unprofessional, bla bla bla: Yes it is unprofessional, we agree. But it still remains one of the main causes of fear among cabin crew. ALL CREW (even pilots) use their phones onboard (regardless of how unprofessional it is). They hide in the toilets, hide in the galleys, wherever they can they use their phones when there is nothing to do. When a supervisor passes by and catches someone, they end up reporting that crew for misconduct (end up also meeting their manager receiving a warning). Is this a good thing? YES. Does it create fear among crew? YES! Cause they will always use their phones, and that in itself is something that creates fear of getting caught
    - For those who shouted here "Crew have breaks on board! You LIAR ORLANDO! They can use their phones or read on their break! How dare you ORLANDO LIE TO US!?!?": Crew have breaks, yes sir! But having to work 16 straight hours, do you think they'll be using their phones or read a book on their break in their bed? They'll surely collapse asleep. What we're talking about here is the inability of doing anything productive with your brain in those long hours where crew do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. 16 hour flight - 3 hour break (never happens to be 3 hours long on an A380, it's usually 2,30 hours, and most long flights are A380) = 13 hours. If it's a night flight, you'll have people sleeping, so services last very little, so 13 hours - 6 hours of service = 7 hours of Nothing. What are you supposed to do with 7 hours remaining? What most crew do is sit down, talk, stare blankly at other crew, containers, food, etc. Instead of this unhealthy trend, crew should be allowed on a rotation basis, to read a book or take notes, or something productive rather than doing nothing at all. NOT all at the same time, they should have a procedure in place with determined timeframes for crew to sit and entertain differently their brain rather than doing nothing. If now you claim that crew have toilet checks, safety checks, passenger checks, replenishing of carts, of toilets, etc, YES they do that! And they should always carry that out! But on night flights where people sleep the whole time, these checks (business class especially) take up to 1-2 minutes MAX. So you don't need all crew to be active and checking the whole aircraft. If demand is low, just let the crew do something productive (in the galley, away from passenger view, not in plain sight of everyone of course)
    - For the pilots here who said that pilots can't and don't use phones on board: You're not a pilot evidently! We've witnessed more pilots (in multiple airlines by the way) using phones, tablets, laptops, books, magazines, gopros, cameras, 360 cameras in the cockpit than cabin crew. Why? Cause they're only 2 and they don't report each other! Cabin Crew are always in passenger sight and backstab each other much more! That's why you see more videos from the cockpit rather than from the cabin on RUclips (not passenger videos, but crew made videos).
    - You LIAR ORLANDO! Phones create interference with the cockpit, you cannot use them onboard: Please leave, I won't be upset. Promise
    - For those who say "it's normal not to be on the phone or reading a book while on duty, it's the same for every job out there": You clearly missed the point of this video and/or of anything we said. We kindly invite you to watch some other RUclips video since you cannot relate nor understand our industry
    - For those who say "I'm a waiter, I'm never on my phone nor read a newspaper whilst on duty": Your industry is different. You don't wake up 4 hours before your shift, you don't work for 16 hours non-stop, you don't work in a dry, low-pressure environment, you don't sleep in a bunk bed with engine noise, kids shouting, uninterrupted toilet flushes and people chit-chatting right next to your bunk bed. You don't have an extra 4 hour from touch down in the airport till you reach your hotel. You don't work during the night (if you do, you still wake up in the same room, same city, same country, we don't), you don't have jet lag
    - For those who now say this, and I'm going to hate you for it :D "Don't choose this job if it makes you unhappy and you have to complain about it, or if you can't use your phone, or if you can't read something for all those hours": This video is of informative nature, we worked for this airline and agreed with the terms and conditions. We're totally fine with the fact that you can't read nor use a phone (we don't even care about the phone part), But that doesn't mean we'll shut up about it. That we won't be open for discussion about it. It's a good idea to inform people who've never been in this industry, of what possible struggles they might be facing. Whether it's a millennial thinking of joining the airline, or just a passenger seeking for more insider information
    - For those who say this video was a waste of their time: Feel free to leave. We wish you a wonderful day
    - For those who enjoyed this video or found it productive: Thank you! Finally!
    Finally, to those who have read this very long comment till the very end, please know that we always use common sense. We're very logical people. We would never agree to crew using their phones on board, we'd never encourage the airline to let all crew read at the same time.
    Instead of looking at the world in black and white (everyone can read a book or no one can), try looking at it with colors or at least in gray (few at a time, with pre-determined timeframes - depending on how busy it is in the cabin). Something logical and with common sense is what we aim for.
    Peace everybody... Peace!

If you are a female, you will be driven from the airport to the hotel and forbidden to leave the hotel ROOM - you are confined to the room itself, yes - until the next flight. No one can visit you except brothers or your Father. You cannot leave the room. You will be barred from leaving the hotel if you try, as if you were trying to flee from jail. A car will pick you to the next flight. Airport, hotel room, airport. I met a Portuguese girl who understandably gave up. And their wages are not that good either. To me Emirates biggest problem is face to face dealings between supervisors and subordinates. Pre-pandemic, my wife and I had traveled to Europe at least once a year. When we flew Emirates I felt they were the most professional crew I had ever experienced. My wife flew UAE first without me and took time immediately after arriving at her destination to tell me how comfortable and safe she felt.

If you are a strict vegetarian don't take business class even if it was offered as an upgrade to you while boarding. You will be starving the whole flying time except for some biscuits and soft drinks. Strange but true. I once got an upgrade to BC from Dubai to NYC. It was on the upper deck of A-380 and fortunately I eat anything and it was fabulous and don't have words to express my feelings. The 13hr flight seemed like a 3 hr flight with no body discomforts. Too saddened to hear the news that Airbus stopped the production of their A-380 model airships due to lack of demand from the global airliners.

Wish everyone puts themselves/families/friends in other’s shoes ... their struggles, hard work, abuse, discrimination and APPRECIATE & RESPECT each and everyone, for whatever job capacity they are in. From my own experience, I learned, that the ones who are quiet, dedicated, work hard are the ones that get trampled on, taken for granted and less appreciated. The poor, the uneducated class are not the only ones who don’t know about cleanliness and uncouth behavior... the rich, well educated, well dressed people also behave in the same manner, even worse! I Appreciate your insight and hope everyone takes it as “constructive criticism” and learn from it.! Wish you safe landings and God Bless🙏🏻

    I work 12 hr nights in a 6 bed home for learning disabilities & would go mad without Netflix! I’m there to ensure their well being & should someone on blood thinners have a frequent nose bleed & it looks like several mad axe men have been busy, I am there. Reading a book would make no difference. We all say,”call u back” & shoot off to rescue our kids or stop our dinner from burning? Flight attendants have it tough on the friendliest of airlines-give them a break-or 5? Stressed staff don’t work well in any job but I want happy cabin and pilots flying me across the ocean.

    Another question again. A follower in page said Qatar Airways rejected him on the 3rd round cause of a scar on his palm. He covered it from makeup and they told to wash and remove all. Is Emirates also that strict on it?

    • @WishCasting
      @WishCasting  5 лет назад +2

      Hi there Sayuru! I have a scar over my upper lip, below my nose. They asked me how it happened and I explained.
      That's before I got accepted and worked in Emirates. They aren't so strict if the scar isn't too big.
      Plenty people join with huge tattoos over their shoulders. As long as you hide them well and don't mention them, you're fine! They don't check and they NEVER get you undressed for it.
      The reason why Emirates forces its employees to wear round necked T-shirts under their shirts isn't just for concealing chest hair, also for hiding any tattoos that with a white shirt would be partially visible.
      Hope I answered your question!

    Re phones. At first I thought that’s not too bad, but when you books, magazines and newspapers are also banned I thought that is unreasonable. Are you allowed to read if you are on a break?

      yes ofcourse you can also use your phone when youre on break. just dont let passengers see. but this video is pretty misleading.

  • @josephxerri87
    @josephxerri87 4 года назад +5

    This video is totally misleading and is based only on "Galley talk". You are not allowed to use your phone as a cabin crew because you are PAYED to be on board for the safety and security of yourself first your colleagues second then your customers. How can you make sure a crew member gives his/her 100% if ur constantly checking your phone and being distracted?
    When you are on a 16 hour flight u have a minimum of 4 hours rest plenty of time to relax and sleep.
    I am cabin supervisor and with Emirates for the last 9 years our job is not to report. If you report your manager will immediately ask you what did you do about it and if we did not have a conversation with the crew explaining what he/she is doing wrong then we will get in trouble because we are there as a support system to the whole crew. "Sometimes you get reported for things that did not even happen" is an excuse when a crew member uses when they have constantly been reported and hiding from their duties then all the work goes on the rest of the crew.
    Uniform and professional image and your appearance if not in line with standards are addressed to each and every cabin crew including pursers, so what you are saying that one crew has roots and been reported while another one in the same flight has same problem and no one addressed it I kinda find it very difficult to believe. At the end Emirates is paying us a good salary to represent it's brand if you want to come to work in a dirty uniform, roots and pointy nails and then you have to serve food on board you should definitely find another job.
    It's nice to try to get more followers and peruse a career on youtube however please when you do these videos get the facts right lying wont take you anywhere. Have a great day

      - How can you make sure a crew member gives his/her 100% if ur constantly checking your phone and being distracted? /// Please read my pinned comment, you're just repeating what was already discussed/asked/etc
      - When you are on a 16 hour flight u have a minimum of 4 hours rest plenty of time to relax and sleep /// That rarely happens to me to have a longer break than 3 hours on an a380 (3 crew rotations x 4 hours = 12 hours of sleep, so 3 services take 4 hours? I don't think so. If you're speaking about b777, that's a different story)
      - If you report your manager will immediately ask you what did you do about it and if we did not have a conversation with the crew explaining what he/she is doing wrong then we will get in trouble because we are there as a support system to the whole crew. "Sometimes you get reported for things that did not even happen" is an excuse when a crew member uses when they have constantly been reported and hiding from their duties then all the work goes on the rest of the crew /// I can personally guarantee that, we've had experiences (me personally) of being treated unjustly, that is worth mentioning. If you watch the video in FULL, you'll find out that I stated "this doesn't happen often" and "it can be unfair at some times". If you want to argue, please find someone else to fight with. Everything I said on the video is absolutely true. Do you have any friends in Emirates? You should absolutely know that these type of CSVs exist. Rembember Joseph, you might be different from these bad CSVs, but they still do exist (I've had my deal with 1 CSV who made me apologize for being slow during my probation period, when we were testing a new service). He tried everything he could to crush me but the purser knew me personally and didn't listen to that CSV, he had to change my position for me to relax a bit. That CSV was a nightmare and there you have it, my example. My girlfriend has her own examples and we do not lie on these things. If you don't believe us, then have it your pure way
      - Uniform and professional image and your appearance if not in line with standards are addressed to each and every cabin crew including pursers, so what you are saying that one crew has roots and been reported while another one in the same flight has same problem and no one addressed it I kinda find it very difficult to believe. At the end Emirates is paying us a good salary to represent it's brand if you want to come to work in a dirty uniform, roots and pointy nails and then you have to serve food on board you should definitely find another job /// We never mentioned anything regarding going to work unprofessionally. We spoke about Consistency. You got it all wrong.
      I've flown with plenty of girls that had roots of different, non uniform or unnatural color, yet they didn't get told off. And I've seen crew getting told off for it all the same. I've witnessed it myself and don't need to convince you.
      CONCLUSION:
      You could've avoided the following mean comment "It's nice to try to get more followers and peruse a career on youtube however please when you do these videos get the facts right lying wont take you anywhere. Have a great day"
      It almost sounds you're hired by Emirates to say this. We're here to portray 5 bad things crew are generally upset with. We're not saying that crew are excused for doing such things. THERE IS a massive difference in the underlying message. If you had friends that were crew (not CSVs or Pursers) and were close to them, they'd tell you their fears and you'd find that they are totally in line with what we say (at least for those 5 years I was employed), maybe things have changed and all is working great now and nobody reports anybody (I don't believe it though).
      Wish you a good day too. I'm chilled, I come in peace.
      And by the way, we love Emirates and we only say the truth. People should know the harder side of the job, not just the good stuff (my other videos prove how much I do love Emirates)

    It is very important to point put that racism and offense comes from Cabin crew as well. it is well documented that there is a very high level of conscious or sub-conscious racism on how Emirates cabin crew treats Asian, African and sub continent passengers. Im sure the company invests a lot in high training standards but it does not show unfortunately. They have lost a lot of business lately to other carriers who have noticeably less of this racism problem. I have been to 100 countries and am frequent traveler on Emirates and the number of times ive seen a young white steward be culturally insensitive, tone-deaf or visibly differential in the treatment of certain nationalities is too many to count. People often have complained formally about this and yet the airline continues to hire the worst kind. very sad state of affairs.

    Just as a note- Indian airline passengers make up the largest demographic group that travel globally. I believe 30% or more of all airline travelers are Indian. So whether you would want to acknowledge it or not, they keep the airlines afloat. They aren't stupid either. If they have multiple bad experiences, they are plenty of other asian and middle eastern airlines to choose from and that has been happening more recently. So I would snap out of the default racist mentality if I were an emirates cabin crew and be a little more humane and civil. It doesnt cost anything to be nice. The world isn't blind and everyone can see when obvious subtle racism is at play, even if it is in the air.

    IDK. The only time I saw a person be unruley to a cabin crew member was on one flight where there were assigned seats and they book different seats throughout the plane, and the crew member told them they had to wait until after take-off before they could move. Honestly, that's not too much to ask and is common procedure among most flights. Eventually the guy cooled down (and this was all mainly verbal, and we weren't even away from the gate so they could have easily escorted him off the plane if they wanted to). But other than that, I have never seen passengers be rude to cabin crew.

      @Ibrahim Wazna imo yes, to an extent. We choose to what make us happy. Whether it be flying, or whatever it is that makes us happy. Being able to tolerate verbal abuse, catering to... It is our choice. Why? Because everyone has a special calling. With that calling, comes yet another blessing; tolerance. I went from FA to nursing. I knew my calling when I was 8 y/o. Oh, and btw, those of us who know/knew don't need trainning, other than who we chose to represent. It was already instilled in us. FA's are not just glorified waitresses, or waiters. They are also the E.R. in the sky.

    well...OF COURSE reading a book or having a cell phone in hand isn't allowed...and this is for many good reasons. As long a crew member is visible for the clients they are on duty and they need to appear busy, active and..well...on duty. And not bored or self-focussed. This is not only for flight attendants but for everyone working in hospitality business.

      16 hours flight. People sleeping. Let's offer a commensurate level of service to my fellow cabin crew :) People don't know this industry and label it moaning and entitlement, you really need to be part of the system to understand. Probably only crew can relate.
