sad how Failure doesnt get the recognition it deserves. ive recently been getting into them and they have become one of my favorite bands.
better.. more for us. This is my guilty pleasure band and it would be to cast pearls before swine
they are a gem for the true music seeker to find
one of my fav bands of all time
The best rare jewels can't be fond everywhere and they're also unknown for everyone :)
Failure has a weird dissonant/dischordant sounding thing going on in their music that makes it sound unique, but unfortunately, it does not sound good to most people on first listen. Failure's music takes a little time to grow on people who aren't too familiar with that sound.
One of the world's most underrated bands..so amazing, they are.
All those dislikes are from "the other guys"
100% accurate.
I think you might want to rethink your understanding of the song
They’re probably APC fans who don’t like this cover lol
@@benkelly7182 failure did the original, apc did the cover.
@cookie Queen That was the joke
i seriously love this performance. A Perfect Circle brought me here but wow am i glad they did :D
I agree, they really showed up and showed they can do excellent live performances of their songs.
I, like a lot of people came across this song because of APC but this original is so gritty and harrowing. The dissonance. The eerie chord progression. I love this. I have a penchant for upsetting music. Don't take my word for it
You should check out Sparklehorse. You're welcome, and I'm sorry.
R.I.P Mark Linkous.
I don’t think anyone would know the song were it not for APC. They reharmonized it much better.
The juxtaposition of the lyrical content and the beautiful harmonization works better than this version.
@@birdrustler i discovered them because a weird collaboration they did with Thom Yorke way back when... Sparklehorse has been a favorite for decades now
@@crescendo5594 lmao. It takes the essence of a mentally elated drug addicts. Maynard has an amazing voice but he makes this song sound like a lullaby. But I respect your opinion.
@@crescendo5594 I didn’t know APC even covered it. And don’t say all of that like it’s factual, it’s your opinion. I personally, can’t see anything being better than this.
Failure changed my life for the better.
Same brother
KEXP always have the snappiest snares.
+the weaver thats just kelli's snare
:)
It's fucking Christmas night, I'm in the battle of my life within my own head. Women. Heartbreak, the whole shebang.....and I have the most beautiful woman I've ever known beside me listening and watching this.....to anyone with depression or anxiety , I'm here with you. Keep fighting. This song helps. Fuck yeah, Failure. Fuck yeah.
You’re not alone… hope this finds you doing better
I hope you have found peace.
This song always hits me in the feels, I can just identify with it perfect
Ditto
I.saw these guys in Seattle in 1997 at Rock Candy. Never forgot their sound. I think I'm one of a few that know this band here in Chile. Such a great band!
x3 colegas! pedazo de banda!!!
Wena ;) Saludos

This song gives me the chills
Say hello to the original
Egg-zackly!
GetzGoth 3113 abso-LUTELY!
Best version
Yes!
Those dragging quarter note stabs are more metal than most metal these days.
Wouldn't say its more metal, but its certainly has a very specific type of heavy that no other band will ever be able to replicate
@SPLEclipse
Can you try to explain what that is to a non-musician like myself (layman) who’s never heard of such a term (dragging quarter note stab)?
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Sure thing! A stab is just a "hit", with guitar it's just a loud strum. With a drummer it might be playing the drums louder for a beat. Dragging just means playing slightly after the "real" beat should be played if you are playing to a metronome. If you listen to the very beginning of the song and all the harder parts after he says "all the other guys" there's a slow down in tempo. All of the chords in those "post-other-guys" portions are hitting quarter notes of the song, which is basically counting off the rhythm as 1-2-3-4 if you listen to when he sounds each chord. They slow down just a bit each time making it drag just a little. It''s almost imperceptible, but just enough to make you feel it. Adds a lot of tension.
@@SPLEclipse so mething failure does amazingly
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 they way they aggressively lean into what is normally considered a boring/conventional time-signature lends itself to a metal aesthetic that is pretty profound. it's best illustrated in the outro where the entire thing falls apart from them basically stomping the song to death.
This is my new favorite band, always thought perfect circle wrote this lol
@Doesn't Remind Me Of Anything
Nice. Failure is amazing. You should checkout a project the lead singer (ken andrews) did after failure broke up. The project was simply called “ON,” and it was released by Sony Music in either 1999 or early 2000s. It’s very unique and great stuff.
Also, another great band who’s also hardly known of, but has a similar classic guitar rock sound as Failure, is Fugazi. I totally recommend them. Start with their album “13 rooms.” “The argument” album is good too, but “13 rooms” was my fav.
I had no idea that the song from A Perfect Circle was a cover from this band. I love that I'm learning something new from a song that I appreciated 20 years after it's release date.
I didn’t either. They have some bangers.
Oh my. So many shroom trips to this album. Nobody makes music like this anymore. Pure.
Try porcupine tree 😊
@@TonyCruz_Music I'd say failure are better
This song is so beautiful 🔥🔥🔥
Sitting in treatment listening to this and it's every bit as healing as anything else here could be once you understand what Fantastic Planet was all about. Failure for life
8 year IV heroin (mostly) addict. I feel you, bro. It gets better.
I dont know what chords they use bit their music has a deep dark delicious flavour, unusual.
Saw Failure open for Tool in April 1993 for the very first live show of the Undertow at the Anaconda in Isla Vista, Ca. There were maybe 50 people there.. it blew us completely away.. Failure was great as well, heh..
not afraid to admit i'd say over 1k to see failure!
@@nataliealtemose9191
You mean you’d PAY over $1k to see them? That’s insane, btw.
These Failure KEXP performances are Fucking tremendous 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Ken Andrews is my biggest musical inspiration. Absolute genius.
I miss the 90's ...last great decade of music
i'm so with you on this one. i was a teenager in the late 90's and wow was the music amazing :)
I dont understand 90s nostalgia. In the 90s we said the music sucked now and was better in the 70s.
Youngster nostalgia. There's wonderful music out there, you just have to find it.
The seemingly shallow but very deep lyrics, Ken's tone, that keyboard, that guitar solo. Everything I need. Don't forget the pharmacy keys. 😙
I love this band. So amazing.
This is one of the most underrated bands, they are extremely talented.
What an excellent band. Been enjoying their work since I heard them back in '97. From Magnified to The Heart is a Monster they have been killing it (Comfort could use a remix). Just phenomenal work.
Ditto followed Failure since 97 love their musical work and was a pleasure to go to the Anniversary of Fantastic Planet!!! Cheers Failure!!!
You got that remix 😉
@@FrazierGregory I sure did, and it is excellent!
I heard this song when i was younger ofcourse it was a cover from APC but I and never truly realised how awesome the original was. I love everything about it... the tone, tempo, lyrics everything.
This was the first Failure song I ever listened to. I found it from listening to A Perfect Circle's cover from their album Thirteenth Step which oddly enough I don't really like that much. Ever since I've slowly been building up my library with songs from these guys. It even led me to find some of their other music outside of Failure, like Year of the Rabbit and Autolux. Truly great artists. Can't wait to listen to what comes next.
I discovered failure from a cd I bought at yard sale when I was in middle school (03/04ish) I loved it so much. Still do. This is one of my comfort songs.
Where was I in the 90s? I totally missed this band at the time. Must have been Extremely blitzed. 😳😁 This track and Macaque, from the first album. Two amazing songs and fun to play on guitar.
Amazing. Thanks to A Perfect Circle for bringing me here. And of course thanks to Failure for this wonderful song.
NICE. I knew this as an A Perfect Circle, realizing they covered Failure. Kinda liking this better. sorta... hehe. Good work.
2017 and people giving thumbs down on failure... that's peciselly what is wrong with the world.
Damn they're amazing live.
Failure is an amazing hidden gem. Sad how underrated they are, but cool for us failure fans
This song brings me back to getting super stoned
Fantastic union between Emile & El Ten Eleven's creativity! I've been listening to El Ten Eleven for 12+ years. Keep it up!
Apc brought me here gritty 90s music I love it
My favourite song from failure.
Awesome!!! Such a great song. So true and pure.
This is beautiful and so are you. Keep your head up💙
damn love this song they killed it
I love this forever!
I enjoy the song in general. It's beautiful.
That guitar solo is so perfect
Failure has one of the best sounding drums on record and they sound good here in the studio. Well done KEXP. They sound similar to the drums on APCs first album. Anyone else hear that?
Such a Space Rock
+Sabir Abdulhasanzade oh another space song ;)
f**k yes. failure rocked the shiz outta this. thnx kexp i love you guys!
One of my favourite songs ever
Such a great song.
That smile and the feel at 3:26 ouufffffff
i'm getting 90s vibes ^^
+robin s Wonder why? :)
Cameron Howard
^^
i missed this sound
I just discovered this band this week lol so even though it came out 1996, it's new to me!
fantastic planet was one of there best albums. remember buying the cd at borders books back in the day
Best Live version of this song.
such a great band really!!!
My friend asked me if you only had one song to choose at the end of the world, I chose this song
Very vitting in the current events, no? lol
wow..goosebumps
I'm so glad Failure got back together. I was lucky enough to be at MJK's 50th birthday thing, where they were part of the rotating show, and they were fucking amazing.
"She's got everything I need..."
I love how 0:59 shows that they are passionate and not robots...
Fucking legends. Just a headshot of the kinda greatest music you can find in the world. Thank you, guys, love you so much ❤
This was f****** brilliant. I fully expected to listen to this and laugh about it but I'm shocked and amazed.
and the sound has a certain affinity with Heaven Beside You ...
Wow! It does. Good ear
this made me feel good
Great Job!
Sayyyy hellloo to the voices in my head
Can anyone tell which midi controller Greg is using there? most of it seems to fit really snug in that road case and I've been looking for something just as portable.
my fave
Wow! That was great
My friend drank himself to death. Great kid. Gone to soon. This is one of his favorite songs.
Failure, failing since 199X : ) bestly sung song lyric: "she's got everything I need, pharmacy keys"
amazing song
So good dude. Holy hell
great song
Great stuff
sublime
Who's here 2029? Any time travelers?
I'm here from 1952. I plugged my inverter in backwards.
Failure Is Key
Im in love
Brilliant
Stunning😶
this guy kind of sounds like Jerry Cantrell from AIC...nice voice!
AuburnAnhedonia now that you mention it... yeah, sort of! only because he's aged a bit imo, his younger voice didn't sound like this
This sounds like grunge... and a little cobain touch... love it
Tnks APC
Just took my pills in a little cup... I need pharmacy keys now! Great sound by a great band
I’d mosh so hard to this live
How does he get that guitar sound at 3:15?
Claire Rousseau whammy pedal, I guess
It sounds like an octave pedal and a wah combined to me. (Maybe digitech?)
0:58 the way he said "me" jesus christ, he meant this
mixture of Soundgarden with Nirvana.. But I love them
This shit is gold
They really need a 2nd guitarist
🗽
fucking beautiful well done lads!
they all sound like july alley to me) right jerry
The only version of this song. I don’t know how a band could cover this song and not have a drum part. Why?
Since this song came out with a perfect circle, I’ve always imagined Kermit, the frog singing it
No seriously.... good job 👍
is he ok?
Nice version
it's their original. APC made a cover ;)
Forgive my ignorance, but is the the original composer? APC brought me here. I know they didn't write it, but im unsure who.
And apparently I'd rather ask you fine people thsn take 5 seconds and Google it 😂😂
yes this is a Failure original. i suggest you check them out. they're awesome!!
