What can I say? You've knocked it out of the park again! I love the way that Ember looks at you as she's standing in the water with this look on her face like, "Why don't you come play in the water with me? It's fun!" It's always great seeing the things Jim puts together and the oh-so-precise measurements he uses! 😂. My family cooks the same way, with a whole lot of , "About that much.", or "that's enough." being said. Cynthia having to jump in and press the right buttons on the InstaPot was hilarious. Teamwork makes the dream work! One thing I love is the incredible camping sites you find up there in Alaska! That Alluvial Plain across from you was picturesque to be certain. The shots you got of the early morning fog on the water were just sensational. There's nothing quite like seeing something like that to bring mystery and magic into any adventure! Your inclusion of Cody Francis' song, "Weather Any Storm" was a fantastic choice and certainly fits the discussion of choices you've made in this video. You and I've discussed this previously. You're right over the mark with it, and I'm confident that you're exploring down the right path for you right now. Last, but certainly not least, is Cynthia's fantastic narration. You've certainly got a knack for it, and really bring a personal element to your videos with it that would be amiss without it. Keep up the great work you two! You may not realize it, but you're living the dream many of us only get to experience when we're unconscious. You're truly blessed and fantastically fortunate. 😃
Brian, when every I sit down to read and reply to you, I make sure I have a good cup of coffee, tea or Woodford. But it's only noon and I stopped drinking for awhile (I'm getting "puffy") so Coffee with Almond milk and the sound of a piper cub flying over head. You have been incredibly encouraging and supportive of us from the beginning. I love what you said about us experiencing things people can only experience when they're unconscious. It's funny because these places still become my happy place since it's been a reality. If that makes sense. When I'm daydreaming or falling asleep or meditating, my happy place is lush green forest, rainfall and sitting inside a van, or bus, or anything with 4 wheels. A cup of coffee in hand and hard rain on the roof. Watching that rain fall onto the green...That's where I go when I'm unconscious. When I'm "sad" which I'm not even sure that's the emotion...it was more a sense of loss and it was temporary. For me, when those things build up every other loss comes flooding back as well. I start thinking about what I'm missing in my life instead of what I have. So THANK YOU. It doesn't happen often, I'm happy 90% of the time, anxious 5% and darn right volatile the other 5% but hey, when you have to decide to pause your life for 12-15 months and live with less income and figure out exactly how you're going to do it...well. It's hard right. So, I've been spending a lot of time in creative thought instead of sad thought and will take your advice and run with this RUclips thing. If we run too far on it, I'm relying on you to reel us back in with your honesty. Deal? 😁
Wings and Wheels Alaska I’ve enjoyed seeing you two grow and become the fantastic channel that you are today. There’s nothing better than being along for a ride like that. With your focus shifting to RUclips, I can only imagine what the two of you will bring to bear on the channel. I am confident that you’re walking down the right path here and will both be the better for it (even Ember). 😃. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to ask!
Great video. One of you best. Great music, fishing, cooking. What els can I say. Amber was great in the opening shot thru the flowers. More, more, more. Regards Roger of NM
Another wonderful posting, from the opening clip of Ember, to Jim's cooking, and the very exciting fishing. I loved it all. Covid is affecting us all, and you are so lucky to have each other to lean on and deal with all of this chaos. Making this new reality something we can live with is a challenge all of us are facing now. You are both doing a wonderful job, for each other, and for all of us. Thanks.
Jim read this comment out loud to me yesterday as we were walking and I got misty eyed. "Making this challenge something we can live with". So True. It's cathartic because it seems for the first time, we are all in something together. Maybe experiencing is differently, but nobody has been untouched by it. Thank you so so much for coming along on this crazy ride with us.
That was an amazing trip guys loved it amazing amazing loved the fishing, don't know if i could last 10 hours doing it though, i love river Samoan fishing and macrell fishing, stay safe see you on the next adventure, michael & Kim UK
Completely new and uncharted. So much drastic change in a short period of time. The one thing that is a stable is this channel and we have a lot more fun to share! Thank you for being a part of it.
Nice video y’all and as always thanks for sharing your adventures with us. These are crazy times but someday hopefully things will be back to normal. Be safe.
Hey Scott. Ember has an amazing life for sure! Sometimes I look at her an think "How can I have half of your happiness?" Me: "Oh yeah, you don't give a damn about anything but our happiness and water!" My motto in life is "What Would Ember Do?". 😂. Just kidding. Kind of.
Another tremendous video. Reflections on the world ahead of us all and the ability to have clear vision is impacted by not knowing the path to choose with so many difficult barriers. We envy that you are in a good location to adventure in spite of the restrictions in place. Thanks for sharing not only your travels but your thoughts and dedication to maintaining your goals and life's lessons. And the wonderful thing about Moose Pass is the ability to "have an ax to grind."
Beautiful and touching words. I think many can relate to the desire to up and leave and escape the world. More so now than ever. We are so thankful for the little corners of our state we can hide in comfort and peace. Thank you for being here with us.
I have watched your journeys for a long time, and you have responded to each of my comments, with thanks. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and for those of us unable to make the same journey as you have, it’s been a pleasure! Both of you are such warm and caring hosts, may you continue in safety and educate us for a long time to come. Loyal to the end! God bless!
You are so kind for sticking with us and letting us know. Yesterday we were walking on a glacier so you have that to look forward to next week. Today, I feel like I got hit by a truck but hey it was totally worth it. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have you along with us. This is EXACTLY why we share it. What we do would still happen, but sharing it and knowing people enjoy it is inspiration to keep going. Yesterday we also looked at our numbers and subscriber count (which we try not to think of) and it was astounding to think of the joy we are bringing people. That's motivation enough to keep sharing, and you and your kind words! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being here with us and for us. Stay well.
Какие вы симпотичные, такие добрые улыбки. Леди и джентльмен на этом канале сияют добром и свободой. Всегда смотрю вас с огромным удовольствием!!!! Сердечко вам обоим 😁❤️👍
It's just gorgeous. I love these Alaska views, and Ember is so sweet--she looks a lot like one of my dogs--and getting to live vicariously through you while I save up for my own Revel. So happy to have found your channel!
It’s wonderful to see your great little family- yes, I’m including your sweet dog! - enjoying the water! So playful! And you two enjoying the ocean fishing! Thanks for taking us along! Another great vlog!
I cannot afford a van or trailer but this winter 3 of us are insulating our cars to go winter camping on long week ends, we are lucky to live in Alaska, one of the last wilderness havens in the world. Thank you for inspiring us🙏
Well done. Good reflection on how the pandemic is affecting our lives... while urbanites like myself are trapped in our cities, you folks are very fortunate you have an escape, the Alaskan countryside is your backyard. It’s beautiful. 👍
You guys are one of the couples on RUclips that inspired me to explore North America by land. With the pandemic, air travel is no longer an option for me, not for a couple of years at least. I’ve been shopping around for a Class B the past 2 months. Hoping to have one built by Panoramic RV in 3 months. I am from Vancouver BC; my wife and I would like to the travel up north to the Yukon Territory... hopefully by then Alaska will be open for visitors. Stay Strong, Stay Safe. Peace ✌️
Can't tell you how much we love Ember. What a pup! Felt so sorry for Jim on the boat. I (Owen) know that feeling so well our kids used to call me Captain UpChuck. But those fish. Had to be worth it. Cynthia your sadness at the beginning of the video could be felt through the TV. Things happen for a reason but we know unplanned and unsolicited change is the hardest. But it also makes us the strongest. Anything we can do just ask. Much love from your NC family.
Owen, we love you guys so much. This ride has been unbelievable.....the first month when I saw my schedule in red (cancelled flights) and ENTIRE month, that's when it hit me hard that I would have to figure something out. Then the CARES act happened and protected my job through September. In two weeks I'll know how the next 12-15 months will go. But who can plan for anything anymore right? I have no desire to step onto an airplane and it's not out of fear, it's the insanity of people. I don't want to be a make referee 32,000 ft in the air. 💁🏻♀️ Every Sunday, I look forward to sipping my coffee and spending time with you guys. Yesterday, I was getting ready to go get blueberries for my Oatmeal and Ember was rolling in the dirt and your video was playing. Love and miss you. Thank you for being such an incredible part of our lives. xo
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska Hey, we found you through Owen and Lynn and are really enjoying your video work. Some basic stuff: You have the best music selections in your videos ever! (Van Trekking also great, but, you are the best at this). I really love your musical pieces you use during the 'background' portion of them. The musical transitions are really meaningful to the emotion of the mood at the time. Now, regarding this video in particular: when viewing this video yesterday for the first time, I immediately felt your emotions in the opening scene. Even the very opening with Ember being excited playing, I could sense your numb sadness. VERY powerful. You and I have something in common, I was in the office equipment business for 30+ years. This year I was temporarily furloughed, then my job was eliminated. My company did the best they could, but this pandemic (or hysteria associated with it) was responsible for my job disappearing. At 58, I too was looking to retire from this in a few years. My job of 11+ years ended on a Friday, the SAME day, my wife's job was eliminated after 20+ years. Amazing. Anyway, we are able because of severance to take a break and figure out the plan until retirement. Like you, I have gone (and keep going) through a roller coaster of ups and downs. But, we are planning to snowbird in AZ for a month or two to figure it all out. During this time, we'll continue enjoying your work on RUclips. Thanks for your work here. By the way, sometimes I am starting to see subtleness in things I haven't noticed before. Sometimes I can't tell if you guys inserted them, or if I do in my own mind. Either way, you make me think and ponder.
Hahaha Ray, that's a great idea! A short and simple intro. I mean, Ember is really the star of this show. It doesn't really matter what happens in our lives as long as we have Ember by our side. ❤️. Thanks for being here with us! xo
Hi guys. Amazing video, with the beautiful music, your fantastic talk and the views were incredible. You really do need time off to be with yourselves and Ember to enjoy the world. Thanks guys. Cheers!!!
aww, you are the best. The time off was amazing and all is better now. Still a lot up in the air but not much we can do about that. I'll know more in about two weeks. Thanks for staying by our side! xo
Loved this video.. very scenic places and also the fishing trip was awesome.. actually you guys should have brought a 🐟 fish back with you and made a barbeque fish with some spices
We were just so exhausted and not feeling well after being on the ocean all day we couldn’t even think of cooking or eating. Thank you for watching. If we would have felt normal we absolutely would have done a catch and cook.
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska It is my fourth trip there. We are buying a camper this winter and plan to go back touring so we can see much more of the state next year. One reason I love watching your vlogs so much!
Wonderful video, as always! So glad to see you back! Been missing you! Your love for each other, and for life on the open road shines through brightly. Here's to many more beautiful and exciting adventures, and to making every second count towards true & deep inner happiness, together. Love you guys! ❤❤❤
YOU are amazing. We think about you all the time, off on a beautiful adventure of your own. This past weekend Jim and I were talking about where we might be if Covid never happened. We had tickets for the Adventurevan Expo and then we were headed to see him mom in Tennessee. I mean, we never really know right but we had tickets and that's what was supposed to have happened. We should have been meeting up with you as well! Hopefully, soon enough, we will get that chance. Thank you for all of your kindness, love and support. ❤️
ENJOYING YOUR CHANNEL A LOT, IT WOULD BE SO NICE TO SEE YOU GUY'S FISHING IN THE LAKES/RIVERS AND FORAGING FOR MUSHROOMS BERRY'S ETC, COOKING THE THINGS YOU GET!!! STAY SAFE AND WELL UK
We do fish but we don't always record it. We will probably do more in the spring. We don't do ice fishing because well it is cold and we don't have the proper gear for it :)
You are experiencing Alaska at a great time. Almost no tourists. Most Alaskans never get to experience it the way you are. Consider yourselves blessed. Usually summer is so packed, its not as nice as you have it now.
Ahh that is so true. Many Alaskans, who've lived here their entire lives and never left the city are getting out and enjoying the beauty of our State. It's wonderful to see unfold. We still have tourists though. A lot more than you might think, but we haven't gotten into that, not sure that we will either but it's very interesting to see. Mandates are "Suggestions" up here. Thank you for stopping in to say hi David. You are absolutely correct!
Thank you Vivian. You're the best. I hope it was a cathartic healthy cry. I seem to be doing a lot of that lately. Have you seen "Win the Wilderness" (or something like that" on BBC about the Cabin in Alaska and the people competing for it? I think you'd enjoy it. Jim and I binged in on a rainy day bout three days ago and cried like babies at the end. Like UGLY sobbing. Thank you for enjoying our videos and a good cry from time to time. Big Hugs. xoxo
Well said in the beginning. Been a challenging time for all, thank you for these videos. I live in a high crime area in Canada and I drive an hour out to have my kids walk in the forest. Your videos out in Alaskan nature help me a lot to calm down. Thank you to both of you from Canada.
It's amazing that you do that for/with your kids. Sometimes I hear from people who grew up bad areas because they couldn't afford to get out or they just weren't exposed t it. I love hearing that you take your kids out and show therm theres more to life than what they see around them. Thank you for stoppin in to chat and tell us. that's spectacular!
We could t stop watching, even when that poor fish was being banged on its head. 🐠 Ember is awesome, as usual. COVID-19 has changed so much and affected so many. Very sorry you've been furloughed, Cynthia, but so happy you, Jim, Ember (and family) make the best of the times. Thank you, you two!!! 🙏🏻 ❤️ ❤️
I asked Jim to edit the bonking part out in fear it might offend. We have lost subscribers when we showed a fox hide that we didn't trap. I like Jim's attitude about it. "Well that's the reality." When we fish for smaller salmon I never have an issue with the bonk. The halibut bonk was cringe worthy though. All is well now. Emotionally I'm doing so much better. Yesterday we walked on a glacier and I was at total peace and I just know this will all work out and we will have great stories to share with our grandchildren. OMG we just watched something on BBC, I think it's called "Win the Wilderness" or something like that but we cried like baby's when we finished it. If you get the chance and you haven't already seen it you should check it out. We finished the entire series on one rainy day. I think you'll love it.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you also... Amber in the water as usual and Jim needs a haircut, I have been watching for a while and you seem worried but, I think things will work out. Enjoy each other and take life one day at a time and it will get better....🙂🙂🙂
You have been with us since the beginning and if I stopped hearing from you I'd get concerned. I'm better now. It's funny because our friends that have a youtube channel said, "You know the camera shows everything so be sure to Never make a video when you're not in the mood". I can't tell you how true that is. I spend several days not wanting to pick up the camera. I was totally caught up in my own head trying to figure all this crap out. Would we be okay without my income? What about our retirement dreams? What about our kids and my mom who benefit from my travel benefits? OMG my brain was a MESS! And it showed in the beginning when Jim picked up the camera. But it stays true to why we do this. To show how real our lives are, how everybody is in this together and that nobody is alone in what they're feeling. Right now, I think far too many people are turning to social media to express themselves. It's a black hole with no real reward. The REAL relief came when Jim and I were sitting by the river on the third or fourth day. I was soooo SOOO caught up in my head and he turned to me and said, "You know? I think we can do this. Take the 12 month furlough, lets make great things happen". When he said that, it was like a dam released and I felt overwhelming relief. I also knew I wasn't alone in that pent up emotion and it felt good to get it out here. It has already gotten better. I won't know about the furlough until the first or second week of August. But I'm doing much much better! Thank you!
Miles Gentry yes he is 🤣. With cases on the rise up here he doesn’t feel like taking a risk for a haircut. Maybe he will break soon and let me shave his head!
Yesterday we were walking on a glacier! Life is what you make of it. As cliche as it sounds, none of this "happened" to us. We made it happen. Even if it's a baby adventure, life is full of them! Thank you for your support Kevin.
Good morning, been busy in my little corner of the world. I throughly enjoyed the video. I could sense the tension in your voice. After the video, I prayed for you both. I know about the covid 19 pandemic can be a pain. A lot of businesses are requiring face covering. I know that you both will come up with a plan for the future. Just take baby steps. As always I enjoy the videos. Your new friends from NC. Looking forward to the next video. God Bless.
Good morning Bill. Welcome back! Thank you for your prayers and for enjoying this journey along with us. We are taking it slow. It's a roller coaster for everyone right now. Today is a good day, rainy and beautiful, and tomorrow is another beautiful day ahead, we are very blessed. Thank you for your support and friendship.
As soon as I saw the road you were on, and Resurrection Bay, I knew you were going to Miller’s Landing. I have camped there several times. Their kayak trips are also great. The short kayak trip to Humpy Cove is excellent. Loved your video.
Hi Jan. We have been out to that spot so many times and never considered doing any of the tours. We're hooked now! I'll certainly take the kayak trip idea. Hopefully we can get back down there this fall. Thank you for being here with us!
I gave up a lifetime of boating and went for buying my 2021 Revel (hopefully I will get it in a couple months). You can both beat seasickness without drugs. Get some Seabands - you wear them on your wrists and they have buttons to put pressure on your wrists in the correct position to stop seasickness without the ill effects of drugs. You can get them on Amazon or at Wallgreens and many other places.
Hi Ken. You're trading in the sea for land. I have no doubt you will love it. The more I see on the 2021 I like it. Peter Holocomb put out a great walk through on his. Ours has become such a part of us. Great idea on the seabands. I don't even know what I was thinking, or I wasn't. This was so last minute I just grabbed some chewables. It's amusing I'm the opposite on eveything, including getting landsick. 😂. It was worth every second. And then to be able to throw our cooler in the back, shower and relax by a river? Priceless. Thanks for coming along on our journeys, looking forward to hearing about yours!
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska I know you put this out 4 months ago, but RUclips just led me to your channel recently. I have traveled the globe, and I get altitude sickness. Unless I am driving the vehicle. I never had an issue on a plane or boat, luckily, but my dream is to go to Alaska and see the Northern Lights, like you did in September. Coming off of Thanksgiving, just want to publicly say that I am SO thankful for your videos, for sharing your thoughts and life with us. I had 'a respiratory virus' and was isolated in one room for 5 weeks in May. No tests were available back then so I never had a resulting diagnosis. I was a piano teacher and musician in a community orchestra here in Minnesota, and miss both so much. It is creepy how the cities, even in AK, are shut down and like ghost towns. I literally stood in the middle of Main Street tonight and took photos and there's just no one. So were you an airline stewardess? That used to be my dream job. I don't particularly have a dream job anymore. I was a ski instructor and coach for Special Olympics, but that is shut down, too. Like radio silence. Anyway, as I was watching the Vikings play on my phone today, sitting in my backyard at my campfire, with my little dog, I thought of you guys in your van with the game on. At least THAT is somewhat normal, right? Lots of U of M students tested positive for Covid, though, so they cancelled the Gopher and Badger Big Ten football game :( between WI and MN. Election day was so warm here (70 degrees after an early Oct 19 snowfall that stuck around for a good week) that I grabbed my son and went to my folks' house to go fishing. All we caught was seaweed, but we saw trumpeter swans at sunset and had a great fire. The water was absolutely freezing, though. I wasn't thinking about where the bow of the canoe was, loaded it up, stepped in to shove off, and it was ice water. How do dogs tolerate it??? Arrgh. Made me remember I need to untangle that fishing line. I miss my chocolate lab, who died at a young age 5 a year ago. I love seeing Ember. How old is your beautiful dog? Btw, I love how you say a bunch of names with the dog dish right there, and the dog won't move until "Ember" is called! Great job! Also, I think I need to get an Instant Pot now.... Lol..... Me and every other subscriber you have. I am looking for the video where you talk about solar power and how you run the Instant Pot off it. But your channel is so addicting, I am binge watching everything, so I'm sure I will find it in you 6 month or 1 year update. How old is your son, can I ask? Ballpark..... My oldest just turned 20. What were some of the most interesting places you've been in the world? Mine are Iceland and the Maldives. I didn't like Tokyo, but I'm glad I went. Brazil was an experience, too. The only place really I want to go now is to drive to Alaska one day and spend time at the National Parks and wilderness. So, again, I send my gratitude for you documenting your travels amd experiences, especially in this crazy year of 2020. All my best!
Hi guys, Welcome back, Amber looks likes she's enjoying the water as usual. Jim's dinner looks great and I see you're using the fine china... Your fishing trip was nice, brings back memories of when I went Halibut fishing and I can say I know how Jim felt...we were out on the water for 11 hrs and I gave up lunch a couple times...not nice feeling... I had to laugh watching you reel that fish in seeing I know just how hard it is. I bet both you and Jim were exhausted and your arms felt like wet noodles. Wow, I think this is the first time I seen Jim without his hat...Jim you need a haircut and beard is getting a bit shaggy. Cynthia you look beautiful as usual :) Thank you for sharing your adventures once again...you both are wonderful and I hope everything works out for the best... Always your friend...Jim
I just read that out loud to Jim and we busted up laughing. YES!! I was almost giving up at the end. Dez kept us all laughing, and Captain Tom wanted to throw me over because I kept giving the halibut my bait....so I had to do A LOT of reeling. Jim trimmed his beard....all by himsef. and...I think he did it in the dark. He needs to find a barber that sanitizes, instead of Great Clips. Everything is working out. The worst part was the weight of it, once I got that off I felt better. Thank you for being a part of this with us. xo
Looks like you had a good time overall on the fishing trip. It can be a lot of work and more so if you have to fight off the green feeling. My grandfather did deep sea charters here in Maine on the East Coast back in the late fifties and real early sixties. I am 68 and cannot believe the things he let us do on his boat once we had learned to swim and at the time I was only 8-10 years old. He got sick though and passed.....seems like a whole other world ago to a kid that wasn't even a teenager yet. Enough of that. These times certainly are trying for most everyone and I am glad to see that you are still out there and adjusting. That stew looked great! Was it? Looking forward to more of your adventures. Things always mostly seem to eventually work out. I certainly love watching your dog and the water. Our water dog is finally really slowing down at it and this summer certainly shows it but she still gives it a try often, she just only does about 20% what she did even a year or two ago and no longer leaps off the dock. Cheers.
I love how you were able to be taken back to those memories. It's never easy to watch out water dogs slow down, they're so much like us. "Well, that was fun, but relaxing here is kinda fun too". It's just another phase of life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories. xo
Wow, some deep soul searching going on there. Cythia's sadness shows through ... Jim seems at peace? Hair looks good too Jim! The fishing reminded me of a days fishing out of Sandpoint, AK. Halibut, Black Bass and Salmon (from the shore). Stay safe, take care.
I think you may be the only one who actually approves of his hair so far! And he's totally at Peace. 😂.He's really good at not letting me fall too deep into a funk when life blindsides us. After spending a few days wrapped up in my head and sadness I'm doing much better now. Thank you guys for stopping by to say Hi!
Agreed, this is probably the one thing we can all agree on, it sucks and it's hard! 😂. We are keeping our heads up. After spending a few days caught up in my head, all is better now. Thank you for your support, kind words and coming along with us on this crazy ride.
It could have totally used a hot pepper! Great suggestion! And thank you, that really really means a lot to us. If we ever start to stray from that I'm going to rely on you to keep us on our toes okay? :)
Agreed. This is living proof that you can have everything and still feel sadness. The goal is to feel it, accept it and MOVE ON! Because you've got it! LIFE IS SHORT!! xoxo
Hi Rob. I am feeling so sooo much better. Emotionally and physically 😊I hope you guys are doing well through all of this. Thank you so much for keeping in touch.
Thanks again Debrah. I love seeing you binge through these, It always makes me smile to see my friends going further back and probably thinking. "oh lord". 😂😂. Thanks for watching.
9:19 I really love the custom seating you made. I looks like it came with the rig. Glad you're both doing well. Reflecting is always good to do. Nothing is certain. With each video you folks put out you give people inspiration. To go out and live. In spite of this virus. I can't thank you enough for sharing your lives with us. You don't have to but you do and it's been so wonderful to see the places you go to. Stay safe. :)
Thank you BC. The custom seating was made by Canyon Adventure Vans so we can't take credit for that but we love love it. If that was our creation it would be a trunk from walmart and a couple of pillows. We appreciate your understanding as to why we do this. Everything we do, we would already be doing, it's just incredible to be able to have people along with us as we do it who are likeminded and enjoy it. The community built around this is something we never imagined. And...your comments have finally made it out of our spam box and you've been with us since the beginning. That's a total accomplishment! 😂. Seriously though, we appreciate you.
Touching video. Cynthia, you should have been an Anchor person/Newscaster. Enjoy and rest during your furlough. You have each other, good health, loyal viewers and of course....Alaska!
That would have been a fun job but I'm not sure I'd be able to stay poker face for as long as they do. My opinions always show on my face. Thank you for the wonderful compliment. Made my day to read this. xo
I love your lifestyle and really enjoy your channel. I love the cold weather and snow! I tune in to take my mind to beautiful cooler weather. Can’t get that here in Austin, TX.
I love that and I LOVE Austin TX. Before all of this happened Jim would have to go there once a year for his K9 training and I've only been there a few times but it's a great place. You would love Alaska as well. My grandmother drove up here from Garrison Texas when my dad when a little boy and before Alaska was even a state! Thank you for joining us Tracy. The one thing we can promise? The weather will get cooler. :).
Wings and Wheels Alaska ... I have been to Alaska. Was there about 7 years ago and rented a vehicle with friends that knew their way around and we went everywhere. I caught a 76 pound halibut in Homer and paid to have it fixed and shipped back to Texas. I loved every minute of it. Although I was born in Texas I was made for cold weather and love everything about it! Say I’m crazy, but I even enjoy shoveling snow. Lol. Keep the great adventures coming. I love them all. Many Blessings.
That’s great that you’re showing a business every week! I’m sure they’re hurting from lack of tourists this summer. That made up recipe looked good. How was it? I was furloughed for 4 mths with a company where I’ve worked for 29 yrs. Just went back to work. Won’t be a good year but grateful to have a job to go back to! Hope everything works out with your job!
Agreed. I'm thankful I might have a job to go back to. I will know around the end of August how long it will be for but right now I'm looking at 1 year and hopefully my airline bounces back. If not? I always know I will be okay. Thank you for spending time with us and your reassurance. Have a great week!
A Fantastic Day in MY LIFE. Beautiful story, Beautifully told, Beautiful video! You guys amaze me! Ember, you are DE DOG! You have also made my dog day better. A super spirit awaiting further love words from Jim. I have a lump in my throat - 3 years passed - thinking of my 17yo Danish/Swedish Farmdog, Gemini - and how she enthralled me with her love, intelligence, spirit, and desire to please me and those she came in contact with. A SUPER TEAM OF 3! THANKS!!! Just sayin' - Rick
Very kind of you Rick. Gemini is a beautiful name for a dog. The loss of a pet like that after 17 years is crushing, not matter how many years go by. There's no other love like it. I get it. Thank you for your positive energy and feedback. xo
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL INTRO! BRAVO! SUPER! VONDERBAR! YAHOO! ......I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jim and Cynthia! IT'S and OSCAR MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no other words.......... I'm outa steam! Just sayin' - Rick
Awww, thank you Rick. I'm literally blushing. See? I promised you they get a tiny bit better! I appreciate ALL of your comments and love. Now go back and build up some more steam! xoxo
Love your video's, always look forward to seeing them! Love what you had to say about the changing world! The dinner looked amazing! The fishing trip was sooo amazing, I'm sooo envious! What are the kinds of fish you caught? What is the pinkish fish?
The first fish, kinda pinkish, is called a yellow eye. VERY good eating and super ugly. Their stomachs come out of their mouths when they're brought to the surface. I thought it was a tongue. I thought "why on earth does a fish have a tongue" That thought plagued me for about an hour until I was told it was a stomach. Mind blown. 🤯 😂. Thank you for hanging out with us!
Thanks, and I just started singing "I like it, I love it...I want some more of it!" after reading this comment. :). Thank you so much for watching and enjoying! 😁
Originally , it was airplanes. But we grew a lot bigger than anticipated when we came up with that name. The original plan was to show what Jim and I were doing while we were apart from each other and I was traveling for work in other cities. Now, Jim is piloting the drone so we just use that as an easy answer. But of course I give you the complicated one. 😂. We have considered changing our name, but for now I'll leave it and see what happens.
Hey, I just found your channel.. I’m planning on living out a van in Canada ontario.. “ need help” if you winterized van, how do you take shower and bathroom??
Our cassette toilet remains useable. We use antifreeze inside of it and pour water to...well, you know...and dump it often so it doesn't freeze. As for showers when it's winterized, I boil water and get creative. I've washed my hair outside and in the sink. Have you followed Van City Van Life in Canada? I think he finds creative ways to shower as well. Our most difficult part is finding water so we carry a collapsable jug and fill it up whenever possible. Keep in mind we aren't on the road full time in the winter either. We have, and will always have a home base to shower and switch out gear etc. Our oldest son currently takes care of it while we're away. We didn't spend a lot of time winterized last winter. Thanks for watching!
That was probably one one my favorite vlogs yet. Love the fishing adventure that you got to take. I pray that you get to find your destiny soon. God Bless.
Thank you for your kindness. I will know if I'm being furloughed around the first or second week of August. We appreciate you on this journey with us. If you need anything don't hesitate to reach out. C&J
A fabulous way to save on water! Especially when we're not by a river. We have used a blue bucket to collect water in the past but we could do it more often for sure. When we start spending more time in one place (which I've been hinting at towards Jim but he's not taking the bait). Thanks for being here with us! 😁
Love your thoughts voice over but please raise record volume. When husband talks and then go to you I have to double volume then quickly decrease when he returns. Not criticism just trying to help, serious fishing jealousy......thanks for great family videos.
We will certainly work on that. I think it's my microphone. I think I need to change a setting on it so it doesn't pick up my S's so clearly and picks up strength of voice over clarity. Thank you for pointing out, we truly appreciate it and it's helpful! See you again soon!
For the Big Questions, I recommend three books: The Book of Nature, The Bible and Thomas Aquinas/Bernard Lonergan. Begin with podcasts of "Aquinas 101."
A good video, fishing trip...some decent fish. Question: have you ever thought about hiring out to do narration or voice work? You have a very good voice for narration. It’d easy to listen to and clear. Oh an calming too :). I think it’d be a good way to pick up extra money. Hop[e you’ve read some more of my books and are enjoying them :). Keep up the good work. Live confidently and peacefully
Thank you John. I've never thought of that. I'll have to look into how one would start something like that because it sounds like fun. The first time I did it I just used the mic on my computer. Then my son gave me a mic he used to use for gaming and it's been a lot of fun playing with this style. I have so many journal I write along the way that it makes it a little easier than talking to the camera. The story unfolds a little more smoothly and emotionally realistic. I have your book saved on my phone and LOVE your words. xo
You have a great talking style. I’m glad you like the book. Which one do you have on your phone? The blue one ( the second book) or the tan one ( the first book). I was wondering if you could do me a favor...you on don’t have to...but if you’d like; When your done with the book or books and have time: could you write a review on amazon? Book sales are based on word of mouth and reviews :). I look forward to you and Jim’s next video :). Stay safe. live confidently and peacefully. ❤️
We are in the middle of a three week shake up cruise from Key West to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in our Promaster which was finished the 20th of June by the conversion company. Our trip has been limited by the virus inasmuch as we can’t do those things that normally we love to do on the road. It’s a bummer to see people not distancing or wearing masks as I don’t want to be the asshole from Florida who spread the virus among the unsuspecting mid western innocents. So we stay in the van and look for places where people are smart enough to take precautions. It’s all you can do until the vaccine gets here or this thing burns itself out because we aren’t going to be able to stop it. But I’m reminded how lucky we are to have jobs to go home to, to be close to retirement to enjoy van living.
Agreed, so much of the joy in road travel doesn't exist because not only do you not want to be "that guy". The beauty in travel is we get to see the reality of it instead of what's being reported. I miss talking to Europeans on the road. Heck, I miss talking to PEOPLE. When I do return to work I'm going to be socially stunted. :). Thank you for you support Michael.
Touching narrative...you are so thoughtful in your thoughts, words, pace....beautiful
Thank you for the kind words and motivation. We're glad you enjoyed it.
Great video. One of you best. Great music, fishing, cooking. What els can I say. Amber was great in the opening shot thru the flowers. More, more, more. Regards Roger of NM
You're so kind to us Roger. Thank you! It was so much fun to do. More coming. Sunday to be exact. Hope you're having a wonderful week!
Ahh you guys are going back in time we love it! Glad you both enjoyed and we hope all is well for you over there. xoxo
Thanks for bringing back the pain of halibut fishing. Such fond memories. Well done. Keep up the great work.
It hurts so good right? We're glad you enjoyed i! Thank you so much for your support. 😊
Wow! A new chapter! Whatever the path, it will be an adventure! Peace and Blessings to you! 💕
Be safe.
Thank you Hillbilly, we sure hope so! Stay well my friend.
Great video!! Fish on ... hang tough kids ... your living your best life ! Your Dog is too 😘😎
Stay well.
It's just gorgeous. I love these Alaska views, and Ember is so sweet--she looks a lot like one of my dogs--and getting to live vicariously through you while I save up for my own Revel. So happy to have found your channel!
Thank you so much. We are glad you found us as well. Welcome to the journey! Hope you are doing well!
It’s wonderful to see your great little family- yes, I’m including your sweet dog! - enjoying the water! So playful! And you two enjoying the ocean fishing! Thanks for taking us along! Another great vlog!
Thank you for the kindness Carmen. We appreciate you coming along with us.
I cannot afford a van or trailer but this winter 3 of us are insulating our cars to go winter camping on long week ends, we are lucky to live in Alaska, one of the last wilderness havens in the world. Thank you for inspiring us🙏
Christine, that is how we started this whole thing was camping in our Ford Explorer :). Maybe we will cross paths out there at some point 👍
You make beautiful videos and your both so authentic! How refreshing!
Hi Cheri, Thank you for watching and enjoying our journey. We just try to show things how they are. Stay safe!
Just subscribed one video ago and am working through binging through all your videos. Great stuff!!! Subscribed and can’t wait for more!
Wow, that's awesome! Thank you for stopping in and taking the time to let us know you're enjoying them. Welcome to the party!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the welcome respite your videos provide! 💕
Leah you are so very welcome! We appreciate you soo soo much as well! ❤️
Well done. Good reflection on how the pandemic is affecting our lives... while urbanites like myself are trapped in our cities, you folks are very fortunate you have an escape, the Alaskan countryside is your backyard. It’s beautiful. 👍
Yes! Very well said. 😁
Every Sunday, I look forward to sipping my coffee and spending time with you guys.
All your videos should start out with that Ember clip, "peekaboo...hi there". That was so cute. ❤️❤️
Another great video, I wish you both the best, everything will come out just fine... y’all are best out there !!!
Thank you John. Not only for your kind words but for simply being with us and saying Hi. And I agree, it will work out, it always does.
What a fun adventure! I will be in Talkeetna visiting my son and grandson in 6 weeks. I cannot wait to be in Alaska again.
Talkeetna is such a beautiful little town! Love going there. Hope your visit is amazing :)
BEAUTIFUL.❤❤❤❤❤❤
We are absolutely lucky to live in a beautiful state that we can escape in. Thanks for watching!
Loved this video
Cried like a baby at the end
It is such a beautiful journey and the fact that you are sharing with us is amazing!!!
Big Hugs. xoxo
Another raw and moving video. Do you intend to make my eyes leak? You have both done an amazing job showing us your world up there. Much respect.
Thank you for sticking by our side all this time. We appreciate you!
Nice work! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by!
I absolutely love your channel!
Thank you Carmen. Hope you are doing well!
GREAT VIDEO such a calmness in this .
Thank you Kathleen. 😊
We could t stop watching, even when that poor fish was being banged on its head. 🐠
Ember is awesome, as usual.
Thank you!
JIM IS REALLY SHAGGY!😅
Miles Gentry yes he is 🤣. With cases on the rise up here he doesn’t feel like taking a risk for a haircut. Maybe he will break soon and let me shave his head!
I dunno about the shaved head part. I would think he needs some of the hair for warmth.
I’m very jealous you guys having a wonderful time 😘😘
Yesterday we were walking on a glacier!
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska ❤
So inspirational guys. BTW lovely van.
Thank you! We appreciate you stopping in to say HI! :)
Hi guys,
Welcome back,
Amber looks likes she's enjoying the water as usual.
Cynthia you look beautiful as usual :)
Thank you for sharing your adventures once again...you both are wonderful and I hope everything works out for the best...
We love you guys, try to stay positive I know it's extremely hard and it is for us also ; )
Also
thanks for the great fishing trip.
Agreed, this is probably the one thing we can all agree on, it sucks and it's hard! 😂. We are keeping our heads up. After spending a few days caught up in my head, all is better now. Thank you for your support, kind words and coming along with us on this crazy ride.
I almost had to fast forward the video because Jim's dish was making me hungry. :-)
Another great video! Thank you!
That's too funny. 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed it! xo
Looks delishious, needed hot pepper though! Wanted you add, your channel is one of my favorites, you bring real humanity to the lifestyle.
It could have totally used a hot pepper! Great suggestion! And thank you, that really really means a lot to us. If we ever start to stray from that I'm going to rely on you to keep us on our toes okay? :)
Beautiful landscape. I love Alaska!
It's always changing and never fails to take our break away. Thank you for watching!
KIDS ANOTHER THING..MONEY CANT BUY HAPPINESS..TAKE YOUR TIME..AND ENJOY LIFE..BECAUSE ITS SHORT!❤
Agreed. This is living proof that you can have everything and still feel sadness. The goal is to feel it, accept it and MOVE ON! Because you've got it! LIFE IS SHORT!! xoxo
Nice episode. Enjoy every moment of your journey.
Thank you! We appreciate you taking the time to share what you thought of it. Stay well. xo
I love the music!!!❤❤❤❤❤
We are glad you like the selection Dena! Thanks for watching ❤️
What an amazing fishing trip. I hope you are feeling better. 🙂
Hi Rob. I am feeling so sooo much better. Emotionally and physically 😊I hope you guys are doing well through all of this. Thank you so much for keeping in touch.
Just stunning
Thank you Jason!
I was getting worried haven't seen you guys in a while. Glad all is good and great video.
All is well Dave, thank you. Just needed a little time away from the camera. Still doing what we always do...appreciate you checking in on us! ❤️
Yet another amazing video...... :).
Made my day to read this. xo
Alaska looks amazing!
It really is! Thanks for watching!
Cute Ember. Thoughtful reflection.
Thank you 😊
MashaAllah MashaAllah,
You've proved money can't buy happiness.
You are correct. The people in your life mean so much more.
Fully agree. Priceless moment
I'm sure you're right. But then again, a Winnebago Revel isn't cheap (they're half the prices of my house).
Great video! That fishing looked like a real adventure!
Oh boy, it sure was. We earned those fish! 😁.
Many Blessings.
soooo cool...LOVE IT and love you !! sooo fun!
Thank you!!!
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska U R very welcome...and THANK YOU..for being you!!
Very well done, I don’t suppose you have enough for us also...
I wish we did Richard. Maybe if you run into us on the road and share a fire some time :). Stay safe.
I was terrible laughing of the garnish😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed :). Thank you for watching. stay safe!
I get it. Thank you for your positive energy and feedback. xo
Trying to catch yourself a barn door huh? Love it!
I read that and smiled BIG BIG. It was one of my dad's sayings too. It's Exactly what if felt like too! Pulling a Volkswagen off the Ocean Floor! 😂
That looked like hard work !
It was hard work. We were sore for days. :)
You both are fantastic 👏
Thank you so much 😀
Great Video as usual thanks 😊
You're very welcome. 😁

Now go back and build up some more steam! xoxo
Are you guys really happy?
We are absolutely 100% happy with life even with the random curveballs that get thrown in the mix. Hope you are doing well!
that dog might be a tasty dish in the South Pacific! BBQ dog legs sounds good
Hi Anthony, I would hope nobody would enjoy poor ember lol. Stay safe!
Mind blown. 🤯 😂. Thank you for hanging out with us!
your voice is so soothing...I like LOVE it..!
Thanks, and I just started singing "I like it, I love it...I want some more of it!" after reading this comment. :). Thank you so much for watching and enjoying! 😁
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska aaahhhh awesome..!!!! much love..!!
Hang in there baby!
Thanks Darling. And Thank you for sticking with us all this time!
Beautiful,
Thank you so much! xo
Amber loves water adorable
I think she was meant to be a fish sometimes 😂😂. She definitely is happiest when we pull up some place she can swim lol.
Where does the Wings in the name come from? Thinking of alaskan bush planes
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska always wanted to fly a bush plane. I took them from juneau to elfin cove to fish
~peace~
Hi Andrew hope you are doing well!
Wow very nice sir your video
Thank you Amit.
I am a indian🇮🇳 your big fran sir
Do you ever use your awning?
Hi Rick, we use the awning in the summer pretty often when it rains. We do not use it in the winter much.
ALL I KNOW IS YOUR VIDEOS ARE AWESOME..HAVE INSPIRED ME..TO AT LEAST GET AWAY FROM PEOPLE...GET BACK TO NATURE!❤JIM AND CYNTHIA..YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!👍❤
Thank you Miles. You're pretty darn amazing yourself. We are SUPER happy to hear you're getting out and away. ❤️
Did you cook the fish?
Yes we do cook the fish, We have it in a deep freezer for storage and restock our van freezer when we need more :). Stay safe!
Hi, Is that a 3, 6 or 8 quart Instant Pot?
We use a 3 qt Instant pot. Happy New Year!
Collecting some of that rain water to rinse dishes before washing or wash the dog might be a novel way too save on water. Anyway God Bless.
A fabulous way to save on water! Especially when we're not by a river. We have used a blue bucket to collect water in the past but we could do it more often for sure. When we start spending more time in one place (which I've been hinting at towards Jim but he's not taking the bait). Thanks for being here with us! 😁
@@WingsandWheelsAlaska umbrella upside down and 3 1gal Arizona ice tea jugs. I prefer the green tea. God Bless
Love your new Logo!
Nuff said.
Just sayin' - Rick
Thank you!!!
Nice camp.
Thanks Peter. When you make your way here you'll have to check that spot out!
I was wondering why the frisbee kept getting bigger and bigger, but then it hit me.
Darn it, Ember was supposed to catch that frisbee before it hit you.
Thank you Richard.
Ciaoo,e buona pesca hihii👋🏻🍻
Hope everything is fabulous for you over there Devid!
Wings and Wheels Alaska si sì, grazie 1000
We’ve proved to ourselves we like van living so we’ll see you in two years. No virus and much chatter. Count on it.
