I don't play POE2 because I simply do not like it. A mix of not liking the endgame as its boring to not liking the trial system. Magic is just Spark builds. Melee is just HoI builds. Ranged is just lightning arrow. Super disappointed with this news.

This is what I’ve been saying the whole time. A PoE 1 league would pull 80-90% of their “game testers” from PoE 2 and GGG just can’t afford to lose that many players to PoE 1.
Regarding leaks we've been saying on POE2 through 4chan, I wouldn't be surprised if they're actually not lying and instead what they're not telling you is that the management and directionless advances in the company have grinded all developments to such a crawl that while POE2 development is suffering, POE1 just straight up can't even be touched because of what is going on internally
Tbh, with such a proactive community filled with lots of modders and tool makers that makes stuff for fun and for FREE, its kinda surprising why GGG didnt "Hire" some small group to keep in touch with poe 1 balance and even creation of some tweaks like adding skill trees to armours/etc, and micromanaging custom events leagues/flashback events meanwhile Poe2 is cooking. Literal 0 effort which doesnt make sense tbh lol.
Anyone who waits will probably find that patch 3.26 is a terrible league because the developers will still be focusing on Path of Exile 2 (AKA Path of Exile 1 more visually appealing but less functional).

It doesn't matter if we knew that this would likely happen. They explicitly assured otherwise and when Peewee 2 is having problems, Poe2 needs to be the one to suffer than that they didn't plan. Or they need to just say explicitly Poe 2 is the focus and we are not developing PoE1 as a guarantee for now. The problem is not the fact that we knew this might happen. The problem is they explicitly said that poe1 was coming next while explicitly not even putting a single person to work on it.

3.26 is honestly probably another 6 months away from us at the earliest unless they somehow actually start to haul ass on development but I really doubt it based on how things have been going so far.
The problem is not content. Poe 1 mechanicaly and skill system much better than POE 2 if they remove all content from POE 1. No prob poe 1 online user would still still be higher than poe 2

Man Digital Extremes should send GGG a fruit basket as a gift because I spent more money in december and january in warframe waiting for PoE1 league than I have in the rest of that year. Well I guess I go back to Warframe because nothing is happening till april/may. Also screw you Jonathan this is not about prediction about not being able to handle it, this is about delaying this announcement till tail end of January when it was obvious in december and should have been announced then.

I feel very bad to be honest... we (the poe 1 vets who spent a lot of money over the years to support the game we love so much) realy got screwed over with this one, yet again.
If they said this in december, or early january. The community would be in an uproar, but at least to Jonathan, it would be clear that PoE1 needs SOMETHING while waiting for PoE2 0.2. It would have given a skeleton crew a month to come up with leagues or events from yesteryear and just run those again, while we wait for actual new league. Now we dont get anything for PoE1 until 0.2 is out for PoE2, which could be AFTER february at this point. If then then still requires support for multiple weeks. THEN development start... we are seriously looking at late april to actually get a new league... 9 months of no love for the game that brought them the ability to make PoE2. Also as a reminder, I spend over 000 dollars on PoE 1!!! not PoE2! It already feels like it is being abandoned. Getting real Guild Wars 1 flashbacks... Please GGG. Change course NOW. Get a team of 5 people and create a simple league and release it NOW. It would actually give you MORE time for PoE2 as the pressure on delivering PoE2 content will be less. Also, if you play your cards right, the larger PoE2 community would actually try the older game as well possibly bringing more money into the company. Early access should be treated as early access and not as priority to deliver on. This is a big L, GGG. You have a lot of repairing trust to do now.

If you haven't made a comparison, go check out Blizzard and other AAA devs. I don't think GGG deserves all of this backlash HOWEVER, I do agree that they could at least serve us with refreshes and the occasional new league in POE 1 in order to keep the game flowing. It is apparent that POE 2 still has a long way to go and it is unfair to the player base to deny them of POE 1, especially if it is their preferred game. POE 1 will always be a special and very loved game, even if GGG would like everyone to accept POE 2 as the new and best, it isn't a good idea to force people into the new game. just do any new league reset with some random shit added, i'd still play for example, another kalguur with +500% gold so we can pretend we can gamble in d2 and one of those crazy mods, like 20 exiles on every zone. i'd be happy to have another filler league with those 2 special mods.

As they said they want to have 2 best game in the genre, PoE1 is 1st, PoE 2 is like 4th right now so they need to work on it. I think the trouble is their games have grown faster than GGG has. From what I found, they have less than 150 employees, compared to bigger names that have thousands. Or maybe I'm wrong and that's enough to handle developing poe2 while still releasing new leagues 4 times a year?

I'm not worried about this. I can play poe 2, other games, get some shit done at home and when 3.26 releases, I'll play it if it looks cool. People need to take a deep breath, it is a game, if you can't live without it you need to do some self reflection.
There was zero reason to hurry up poe2 open beta release. They should be doing what they were doing the whole time - release regular leagues and updates for PoE1 while in the meantime work with the majority of the resources on poe2. Nothing bad would happen if that open beta happened a month or two later. The game is still way off from being finished so it would not make any difference.

6-12 month for POE2 full release is completly unrealistic. Totally agree that end of 2026 is the EARLYEST date. And why does GGG treat PoE2 as it is a full released game? Put a team on PoE. I am guessing 7/2026 for POE2 release (so they can get summer players, then do another league before Christmas). POE1 will be something in May .. then again in November. I agree with better updates for POE2 .. maybe every 2 weeks have a update post, and once a month a minor release .. and every 4 months a big reset. That's how I'd plan it.
Since Chris left the company, this game has been declining year by year. The fact that EA PoE2 was so well received at the beginning doesn't mean anything, but PoE 2 shouldn't even be an EA in my opinion.
They never said its 6 months Early Access. They actually didn't say anything about when the game will be finished. Its asid AT LEAST 6 months, would be a miracle. Another issue is, you can't spawn experienced developers like monsters in PoE. You only have that much resources to build on. These drama videos doesn't change reality. They are very transparent, and I am very sure they are very sad with the current situation. Most probably more sad as any player. We will not die without a few months without a new PoE1 league. There are so much other games coming out. Just relax guys, stop this insistence on something YOU GET FOR FREE!!!
At this point PoE 2 is missing classes, acts, endgame and the complete balancing, (performance, bugs yada yada) I don't see the game finished in a year and PoE 1 gets no new content in the foreseeable future so I don't know what they're doing there and how they think they'll sell MTX in 2025. I'm not that keen on watching content either for games I'm not planning to play shortly.
People are too spoiled nowadays, they want everything fast and now. Things don't get done so fast. Learn how to appreciate and have some patience. Let them take time and develop.
Wouldn't work, players want some balancing changes and at least some new content, they are used to it, and that's the problem with PoE1 players. They have already done a rerun Settlers and it amased 30k max players.

I have no idea what people are thinking when they say the game used to be better......look at the beautiful Atlas passives, abundant scarabs and more and more previous content you can access. Take the following with a grain of salt, BUT, I believe that PoE2's arrival will kill overall quality of "trimestral" expansions we receive, simply because I believe that GGG has no intention (at least for the foreseable future) to allocate many more resources into the 2 games in order to perserve quality AND within their timeframe of release. When they announced PoE2 as a standalone game, i thought to myself that they would expand leagues to 6 month cycle and alternate between leagues for both game as a means to grow their profit and at the same time give more time for development. But it doesn't seem to be the case anymore (at least for now).

It's the understandably smart move to focus on PoE2 and getting v0.2.0 out as soon as possible. That is the game that needs the most work right now. That is the game that has the most viewers on Twitch and RUclips. It has the most players interested. I have some high expectations for this patch too, since it goes from v0.1.1 to v0.2.0 immediately, which is a rather substantial leap in version numbers for software development. I would expect that they are crunching hard to get that out the door as soon as possible, as they too can see the PoE2 players not logging in as much anymore, with this last week seeing the game for the first time dip under 200,000 concurrent players on Steam.

It means that the more successful Poe 2 becomes the less work will be put into Poe 1. By them concentrating all of their resources on the second game it will likely draw more people to it and it will likely make GGG never go back to working on the first game. Anyway that is what they think will happen but a lot of people do not like the slower pace of the second game so that decision may as well bite them in their as, especially considering how coordinated and vindictive the playerbase can be.
Poe 2 is a ton of fun and a great starting point. I personally have no plan of playing poe1 anymore. People comparing the two knowing one is 10 years into development are being disingenuous.

Yes, GGG made an uncommon decision (for them) to chase the money instead of looking out for the best interest of the game(s).
I said it from day one. POE1 is so much better and they will not improve it anymore because POE2 would look even worse compared to POE1!

Man Digital Extremes should send GGG a fruit basket as a gift because I spent more money in december and january in warframe waiting for PoE1 league than I have in the rest of that year. Well I guess I go back to Warframe because nothing is happening till april/may.

If they said this in december, or early january. The community would be in an uproar, but at least to Jonathan, it would be clear that PoE1 needs SOMETHING while waiting for PoE2 0.2.
It would have given a skeleton crew a month to come up with leagues or events from yesteryear and just run those again, while we wait for actual new league.
Now we dont get anything for PoE1 until 0.2 is out for PoE2, which could be AFTER february at this point. If then then still requires support for multiple weeks. THEN development start... we are seriously looking at late april to actually get a new league... 9 months of no love for the game that brought them the ability to make PoE2.
Also as a reminder, I spend over 000 dollars on PoE 1!!! not PoE2! It already feels like it is being abandoned. Getting real Guild Wars 1 flashbacks... Please GGG. Change course NOW. Get a team of 5 people and create a simple league and release it NOW. It would actually give you MORE time for PoE2 as the pressure on delivering PoE2 content will be less. Also, if you play your cards right, the larger PoE2 community would actually try the older game as well possibly bringing more money into the company.
Early access should be treated as early access and not as priority to deliver on. This is a big L, GGG. You have a lot of repairing trust to do now.

HOWEVER, I do agree that they could at least serve us with refreshes and the occasional new league in POE 1 in order to keep the game flowing. It is apparent that POE 2 still has a long way to go and it is unfair to the player base to deny them of POE 1, especially if it is their preferred game. POE 1 will always be a special and very loved game, even if GGG would like everyone to accept POE 2 as the new and best, it isn't a good idea to force people into the new game. This could have the opposite effect.
I mean, if they work on new content in POE 1, they can always take this great content over to POE 2. It is beneficial to keep POE 1 alive

As they said they want to have 2 best game in the genre, PoE1 is 1st, PoE 2 is like 4th right now so they need to work on it. I think the trouble is their games have grown faster than GGG has. From what I found, they have less than 150 employees, compared to bigger names that have thousands. Or maybe I'm wrong and that's enough to handle developing poe2 while still releasing new leagues 4 times a year?

There was zero reason to hurry up poe2 open beta release. They should be doing what they were doing the whole time - release regular leagues and updates for PoE1 while in the meantime work with the majority of the resources on poe2. Nothing bad would happen if that open beta happened a month or two later. The game is still way off from being finished so it would not make any difference.

I am guessing 7/2026 for POE2 release (so they can get summer players, then do another league before Christmas). POE1 will be something in May .. then again in November. I agree with better updates for POE2 .. maybe every 2 weeks have a update post, and once a month a minor release .. and every 4 months a big reset. That's how I'd plan it.

Since Chris left the company, this game has been declining year by year. The fact that EA PoE2 was so well received at the beginning doesn't mean anything, but PoE 2 shouldn't even be an EA in my opinion.

They never said its 6 months Early Access. They actually didn't say anything about when the game will be finished. Its asid AT LEAST 6 months, would be a miracle. Another issue is, you can't spawn experienced developers like monsters in PoE. You only have that much resources to build on. These drama videos doesn't change reality. They are very transparent, and I am very sure they are very sad with the current situation. Most probably more sad as any player. We will not die without a few months without a new PoE1 league. There are so much other games coming out. Just relax guys, stop this insistence on something YOU GET FOR FREE!!!

At this point PoE 2 is missing classes, acts, endgame and the complete balancing, (performance, bugs yada yada) I don't see the game finished in a year and PoE 1 gets no new content in the foreseeable future so I don't know what they're doing there and how they think they'll sell MTX in 2025.
I'm not that keen on watching content either for games I'm not planning to play shortly.

And i refuse to support a game that i can't even pass the t1 maps with out spending 200. Plus hours trying to get chaos resistantce and rarity because it's the most required stats in poe 2. After i hit the 230-hour mark, i said fk this game. But they are fing poe 1. So i will not be supporting them until further notice.

Take the following with a grain of salt, BUT, I believe that PoE2's arrival will kill overall quality of "trimestral" expansions we receive, simply because I believe that GGG has no intention (at least for the foreseable future) to allocate many more resources into the 2 games in order to perserve quality AND within their timeframe of release.
When they announced PoE2 as a standalone game, i thought to myself that they would expand leagues to 6 month cycle and alternate between leagues for both game as a means to grow their profit and at the same time give more time for development. But it doesn't seem to be the case anymore (at least for now).
Poe 1 league haven't been trimestral since sentinel and that was May of 2022

i still think poe 2 has no reason to exist, and they keep saying that the end game needs a lot of work, like... yes of course, but so does the base campaign, its soooo long and tedious i barely made it to mapping and i was sooo done, and the changes to the atlas and maps design and mechanics juts turned me away, and now im rotting in poe cause its getting extremely stale.... what a shitshow.

It's the understandably smart move to focus on PoE2 and getting v0.2.0 out as soon as possible. That is the game that needs the most work right now. That is the game that has the most viewers on Twitch and RUclips. It has the most players interested. I have some high expectations for this patch too, since it goes from v0.1.1 to v0.2.0 immediately, which is a rather substantial leap in version numbers for software development. I would expect that they are crunching hard to get that out the door as soon as possible, as they too can see the PoE2 players not logging in as much anymore, with this last week seeing the game for the first time dip under 200,000 concurrent players on Steam.

It means that the more successful Poe 2 becomes the less work will be put into Poe 1. By them concentrating all of their resources on the second game it will likely draw more people to it and it will likely make GGG never go back to working on the first game. Anyway that is what they think will happen but a lot of people do not like the slower pace of the second game so that decision may as well bite them in their as, especially considering how coordinated and vindictive the playerbase can be.
