I don't get why keyboardists always needs sheet music. They can't remember song like other musicians? And what I can't get AT ALL, how the hell they can read sheet music and play it in original tempo. I play guitar for 12 years and if you put tabs in front of me, this will confuse me. Someone explain pls?
In comparrison whit other instruments, we have a ton of notes to play and a lot of progaraming to remember, such as splits or layer positioning, and the sheet helps in remembering where they are. As for the reading and playing in the same time, it's a matter of practice. We don't alleays play after sheets. In classical music you don't have time to follow your playing and the notes simultaneuosly, so we memorise it (because we only use the piano sound throughout the entire peace).
