Great game, nice to see you back Also, it is ri dan as opposed to ray dan, because it's the Japanese god of lightning. And also the character from metal gear (2, 4, and rising revengance). And also a character from genshin impact. And league of legends. Kinda a popular name for characters associated with lightning, mainly because "thor" gets assigned to big burley dudes with hammers moreso than specifically lightning and thunder dudes, and zeus is a bit too grandiose for a character.
League of Legends has a Raiden? I'm trying to think the champions associated with lightning, there's obviously Kennen and Volibear... I don't think Xerath counts, that's arcanostuff not lightning. Blitzcrank and Zeri have electricity but does it really count as lightning? I guess maybe if Xin Zhao uses W on Janna it creates a little Raiden 9 months later?
@Chromodar i could have sworn stoney said raidan, like the league of legends character, in one of his videos on it. Must have been mistaken, not that I'd ever go near enough to league to check. Edit: other comment made me remember, stoney said mortal combat, not league. Not that I'd ever bother to play mortal combat.
@@Santisima_Trinidad Well that was an easy confusion to clear up, nice. Sad for me that my joke about Xin Zhao and Janna is completely wasted on you though 😅
@@berengerchristy6256 if you disagree on the pronunciation, well, you're wrong, there's a source (the god) and i doubt a mortal combat character being wrong is enough to affect the pronunciation for this big lightning boy, esspecially as raidan metal gear rising is pretty iconic, but thanks for giving a counter example anyway.
Welcome back! Don't sweat it. Hope your health continues to improve! I think the Raiden is a novel unit. It's a lot of fun, but I rarely use big units. My favorite change has been the buff to boat, so now it's super tanky and pairs really well with the Training Specialist, as does the Deathknell in F4A if you get it early enough
Raiden is definitely very strong out the gate due to the chain lightning, as demonstrated here it is very effective against mid/early game anti air like marksman since with the chain lightning ability it can wipe them out without actually targeting them, or take out building without needing to target the building since in early/mid game the building won't be upgraded most likely. The thing that really counters is giants as it doesn't deal giant killer damage in an effective amount of time, so using forts to tank or boats to kill seem to be decent strategies. Also I believe saber always had a bit of aoe like the sledgehammer.
Glad to see you back! Enjoying the season so far but so much raiden spam. Make raiden only able to target ground units and I think we have better balance.
Raidens are strong, but Marksmen are pretty good at dealing with them. Considering how popular (and strong) Raiden are now, I opt for range Marksmen whenever they become useful on the battlefield. If opponent commits into Raidens, I can just tech anti air and EM shots, effectively removing Raidens as soon as they connect.
As you can see in the videos, marksmen close to the tower are being targeted by raiden being behind the middle line. I don't get how it works for you. I played 3 game with raiden, I won them easily. Range and chain destroyed evrything and if opponent buy giants, i add emp and then giants do nothing. Everything got emped, event marksmen and melting point behind the line. The probleme is the +60 range of chain and the fact that raiden dont have to turn around to shoot at units. If you mass raiden, you win.
I agree with this. Might be an extreme case, but if you play only marksmen, then there is NOTHING to target in front of them. In my game, all my marksmen had EM shots, range and elite on them, I hadn't even anti air as an option, was quite easy win.
6:25 it is definitely RAY-den. The unit uses electricity just like Raiden from Mortal Kombat, and that's how they pronounce it throughout that franchise
Raiden is OP right now, there was a weekly tournament that was won by a single strategy of playing Raidens properly. The guy won 7 games in a row when playing raidens as the main carries. Most likely it will be the first unit to be nerfed.
Regarding Raiden pronunciation: Both Ray-den and Ri-den are legitimate pronunciations. Ri-den is perhaps closer to the original Japanese pronunciation, whereas Ray-den is the English version. As none of the other unit names are anything non-English-sounding, I would lean toward Ray-den as likely the intended pronunciation, but I also don't know if the developer (a Swedish company) has an official pronunciation anywhere.
I have found Raidens to be decent in general, but scale better than most units with tech and numbers. if you can get Fork, chain and ionization going with 4+ of them in a relatively tight formation they just butcher everything. Each shot hits 10 units and still has the base dmg to kill chaff but the 40% of HP on hit just rips the mid size and large units up. also love the new saber tooth, best meat shield at the $200 price point and the side guns are good in the right situation
The Marksmen never connected on them. So wasted potential. If chicken invested in a bit more chaf clear like a Vulcan he would get to the juicy stuff quicker.
Raiden feels broken. Makes me not want to play mecha, since every game is raiden spam. PS I think in english, most people say "RAY-den" but the word comes from the Japanese god of thunder, pronouced "RYE-den" I think both pronunciation are acceptable.

Happy New Year Cob! Good to see you doing a Mechabellum vid!

I disagree. I think its from Mortal Kombat's Raiden. I'd say he has more mind share in the general public than the god he gets his namesake from

Chain is effectively +40 range. It lowers base rang by 20, but ut chains up to 60 off of the target. It can also hit cloaked phantom rays.
Ya that's what I was thinking when I saw the upgrade. This isn't a way to increase chaff clear, it's a way for it to hit the backlone.

Raiden player waits till your in kill range then triple drops wasps...

Nice video! Can't wait to see the cat again
welcome back :) (dont forget to pronounce the A :D in rAiden)
So happy to get my dose of OIOIOIOI !
RAY-DEN like the mortal combat character with all the lighting powers.
Regarding Raiden pronunciation: Both Ray-den and Ri-den are legitimate pronunciations. Ri-den is perhaps closer to the original Japanese pronunciation, whereas Ray-den is the English version. "Ray-den" like the demi-god/god of thunder and lighting in mortal kombat
miss you!!!

RAY DEN!
Its RAY den.
Old Sabertooth model was better
This game is wack af; it's awesome for several weeks on end and then just as garbage for another several weeks...
