I have a master degree and 18 years of experience in IT field but I couldn't get one single interview for the past 3 months applied for more than 500 jobs in Alberta mainly and all over Canada. I don't have connections, and I don't know anyone in Canada. Anyhow, trying my best to study for some technical certificates and keep applying. I heard that fewer jobs are in winter, and I am not sure if I will survive without a job during winter. Crazy market, and they're not interested in immigrants and newcomers. Trust me. BTW, job bank website is a fake website to mislead job seekers.
September-Nov, and Feb-Mar are usually best months for hiring. Keep it up, network and work through your resume to include your accomplishments and communicate impact - this is the best thing that tells employer who you are until you network. See if there are any events happening in your field where you live, and start by attending them. All the best!
I’m totally agree with you in the whole sentence. Here they hire you if you have Canadian school and Can experience; given my experience working, I didn’t find it hard, too relax. Many Canadians are happy with high school level but as immigrants they want you with master degree! Government isn’t as brilliant as I thought.
This chapter provided me with lots of information. Thanks for sharing the valuable information. Keep doing this; we all benefit from your job. God bless you.
I enjoyed this video. As a French speaker in Ontario, I struggle with networking and my English, even if I significantly improve daily. Anyway, I'm still working.
Blyat, there are like 1000+ applicants to any crappy IT vacancy in 1 hour. There is no "Lifehack" to get a nice job in Canada. Just work your ass off in Walmart for 5 years and get hired in USA with your new Canadian passport.
Thank you for all that you do! I am a special education teacher here in NYC. I was wondering what steps I should take if I want to teach in Canada I have close to 20 years of teaching under my belt.
Hey! First, decide which city/ province you’d like to move to. Second, go on the provincial school board website and check out equivalency/certification steps. Generally, the process is rather straight forward, but might take a couple of years, because bureaucracy. All the best!
Great video thankyou Its so confusing to know where to start coming trom usa working in the medical field as medical Assistant in a urgent care and mental health addiction clinic. Iam scared of all i have to try to visa paperwork passports jobs home All that .
A 100% agree on skill part. I was able to land a job in one month of arriving here without references thanks to my 7 years of experience working in data science at Fortune 500 companies.
@MakeThatChange It was a combination of 3 things for me: 1. Demonstrating knowledge of required technology skills for the role such as Python, SQL, Tableau, etc. 2. Presenting how these skills were utilized in my previous organizations (in a way that aligns with the role applied for) and the business impact it created (measurable/quantified). Often probing/ follow-up questions are asked on this, being ready to answer helps immensely. 3. Engaging in active listening and fostering meaningful conversation. Often, interviewers prefer candidates who listen first, ask meaningful questions, and build engagement through a mix of professional / semi-casual tone. This unfortunately, comes through experience and can't exactly be taught in any course. Bonus tip: Create a handful of resumes for the role(s) you are interested in. Each version can highlight different areas of your skill / experience that align with the job description.

That's why networking is so important. Even when looking for a job in the US, because you're not the only Canadian who wants to be hired in the US😊
They say it’s not easy these days in the US either. World’s changing.
