Agreed. The concept of the film's story along with the themes & messages of change is good but the execution along with the utilization & characterization of Tai-Lung, Shen, & Kai was done dirty. This film feels like forced fanservice & a mediocre version of No Way Home. I was hoping for Tai-Lung to have a redemption arc & to remain in the mortal realm in which he reconciles with Shifu as their relationship as established in the first film was one of the more emotional aspects. Shifu needed a big role as well. With Change being the primary theme of the film, I was hoping that Shifu's arc was to understand that he should not enforce old fashioned traditions on Po to retire so quickly as The DW & automatically find a successor. Shifu has always been very traditional & one of these days, hes gonna have to learn that tradition isnt everything. Po is still young & is at the prime of his life. Shifu should understand that the decision to pass the torch is Po's along with Po's arc being similar to the actual film in which he'll have to understand that he cant be the Dragon-Warrior forever. Prior to the release of KFP 4, when I heard Tai-Lung, Lord-Shen, & General-Kai were confirmed to appear in the film, I was estatic. Tai-Lung to me had the most potentiel to redeem himself due to his compelling backstory, determination, & feroucity. But then, I started seeing theories in regards to him not only having a redemption-arc but becoming the DW as a Full-Circle thing. I highly disagreed with him being The DW but him getting a redemption would've been great. I was hoping hed fight alongside Po & Zhen against The Chameleon along with an emotional reconciliation with Shifu as their relationship was one of the most emotionally compelling aspects of the first film.Tai-Lung out of the 3 past antagonist had the most potential to redeem himself along with the fact that unlike Shen & Kai, Tai-Lung is technically NOT DEAD. I honestly wished that Tai-Lung's redemption arc would be half the film rather than being sidelined for the final act. Because this film feels like No Way Home but les cohesive. The scene where all of Po's past villains bow to Po in respect looked cool on paper & a decent concept as it really mirrors how The Furious 5 bowed to him in the first film. But the execution & build up was unearned. Hell, I had a hard time believing Shen of all of them to bow to Po considering what he as done to him. I can buy Tai-Lung & maybe Kai bowing but not Shen. his Tai-Lung's true arc should be acceptance along with his redemption. Tai-Lung does not need the title to prove his greatness or worthiness. Id keep Zhen as the Next Dragon Warrior personally even though I too dont have much of a deep connection with the character. Tai-Lung getting a redemption arc is pitch perfect idea. I just dont think he needs to be The DW by the end of it. I think it'd be better that he travels the world by the end of the story & starts his own Kung-Fu school while teaching & speading the knowledge & wisdom by both Po & Shifu about modesty & learning to accept rejection. It would be better for Tai-Lung to instill this wisdom while also showcasing what Shifu failed to teach him. If Shifu had done this, he would've taught Tai-Lung the lesson of Humbleness, Humility, Modesty, & the ability to face rejection & to keep working hard while empathizing that he will always be proud of him & love him. Tai-Lungs struggle & downfall was entirely revolved around the weight of expectations & misguided sense of validation & destiny. Also, it would be an excellent parrelel going forward if Tigress is the one who trains Zhen to become The Dragon-Warrior while Po continues as the Current DW & trains to be The Spiritual-Successor like Oogway. Tigress & Zhen would be the perfect Female Counterpart & Parrelel to Shifu & Po. Tigress much like Tai-Lung was Shifu's most prized student & his 2nd Adopted Child. Both Shifu & Tigress had doubts about Po being the Dragon-Warrior & Tigress in the first film succeeded what Tai-Lung couldnt by accepting that she was never meant to be the Dragon-Warrior as Shifu accepted not being the Next Spiritual-Leader. It would be perfect if Tigress becomes The Shifu to Zhen's Po while Po becomes the next Oogway.
It would have been better if shen and kai only attacked po and tai lung helping po fight them, that would have been way better, even the co director Stephanie Ma Stine wanted tai lungs redemption to be done right but Mike Mitchell refused all her ideas, if she was the director this movie could have been amazing.

This feels like a good example of why "show, don't tell" is so important. We never saw any of the old villains change or go on any kind of redemption arc, so seeing them bow down to their arch enemy (Po) makes zero sense here. It's implied that they reflected on their lives during their time in the Spirit realm, but that's really not enough. Kai shouldn't even be here- his spirit was obliterated in the third movie's ending.
I have an idea, what about all of them trying to banded together to taken over China since they're to greatest group of villainous master after all and only way to save the nation is Po luring all of them back to spirit realm. Once Po and all the villains fighting their way to spirit realm, Zhen closed the gate and returned to master Shifu, to get the 5 back together and bring Po back.

Kai was banished years before Oogway invented Kung Fu and Lord Shen's fighting tactic was Cai Li Fo which is not Kung Fu his whole goal in the 2nd film was to destroy Kung Fu so it made no sense for him to be in the spirit realm because he was not a Kung Fu master.

I saw this movie twice
At the beginning of the movie, I thought that Poe was going to give the title of the Dragon Warrior to Tai Lung after he became good and Po be the spiritual leader. Who else here thinks that Tai Lung should’ve been given the title of DW? The way Tai Lung calmly said every word to Po after he go his chi back made me think he is now a good person

Well Tai Lung deserve to get his revenge because basicly Po kill him by send him to place of the dead people..... unlike sheng who died by his cannon or kai died from fighting ogway which took him 500 to able return.
No the ending is the masters just thanks Po and tai lung said "we are ready to go back in the spirit realm".
If I recall Lord Shen and Kai had no kung fu
Kai was a warrior and Shen knows a how to fight a bit cuz he won a 2v1 battle against Master Ox and Master Croc
@@danaugg9183 They had no Kung Fu. Kai was banished years before Oogway invented Kung Fu and Lord Shen's fighting tactic was Cai Li Fo which is not Kung Fu his whole goal in the 2nd film was to destroy Kung Fu so it made no sense for him to be in the spirit realm because he was not a Kung Fu master.
