Eidolon- //Edit circa SIX YEARS LATER (Feb 2024) Plains are named after 'Eidolon' because they're literally a 'Plains of the Dead' (for Sentients). Eidolons are 'undead' Sentients; bound together by energy and either latent programming or the equivalent of a will to live. Other fledged Sentients can try to revive them, or Archons can donate their Shards to more quickly restore them to stability (as we do with Natah).
The Eidolons are the pieces of the supermassive Sentient that landed there ages ago, the same one that Gara fought and Revenant got trapped with. They're like zombie/ghoul Sentients - they're too small to have a good mind of their own, so by instinct they keep searching for each other, looking for a way to rebuild themself into that ME Reaper ripof-- I mean, Sentient, again. Though that's just my two cents on the subject, judging by the lore of Cetus and the Plains.
An eidolon is just a piece of a sentient, that's why its *eidolon teralyst* and *eidolon vomvalyst* and *eidolon ropalolyst* I know im being unfair with future information from the jovian concord update but I was pretty sure of eidolon just meaning "sentient piece" several months ago
Personally I think the Orokin had a kneejerk reaction to finding out the Sentients had become sentient, and basically wanted to recycle them. Hunhow says something along the lines of "you would work with these beings, who would make weapons of our bones?" to Lotus regarding the "Orokin named Alad V". For all intents and purposes there's no real reason they would want to come back to the origin system to destroy humanity, as the Tau system is supposedly a paradise compared to homebase, unless the Orokin did something to really, *really* piss them off. Also, gender stereotypes for Sentients went out the window when Hunhow said "my womb" lmao.
Lotus being an amalgam of Natah and Margulis (either 2 "souls" in one body, 2 mixed souls in one body, or the chair + body etc) has been my theory for a long long time now, how exactly Margulis went from executed to part of Lotus is an interesting missing bit, but I imagine Hunhow only wanted to give Natah Margulis' appearance and enough of the personality to fool the tenno but got almost all of her if not all of her into Natah by mistake, or Margulis "took over" the amalgam more than intended etc. Maybe the sentients swapped Margulis with a fake before the execution? Who knows.
Remember that orokin can body-hop even after they die thanks to their continuity mumbo jumbo. Maybe Executor Ballas cut a deal with the sentients, using Natah for Margulis's continuity in exchange for defecting? (It's possible he was hoping for Margulis to take over completely.) The result was a cyborg amalgam of both women that sort of became her own entity, without strong ties to either side. There's also something to be said about caring for children being something both halves had in abundance, thus becoming the foundation of her new personality as Space Mom. The lotus flower is often associated with altered states of consciousness and themes of transcendence/balance/etc. In the new war quests we see both sentient and orokin try to claim her, but she rejects them both. She is not Margulis, nor is she Natah. She is the Lotus, mother of strays and steward of the origin system.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video, very concise and informative yet funny and entertaining at the same time. I loved all the names you used for the characters (Marge, Terry, Gary, Ect.)
O_O He did? I thought I was the only one that named them like that, Terry, Gary, Harry. Though I had two names for Terry, was deciding between Terra or Terry.
Hey dude. Just discovered your channel, great stuff. It's nice to have good lore vids that aren't by DKvoiceandmethodofspeechmakesmewanttokillmyself. Your actual video quality and edits themselves are really excellent too!
I have recently came up with a theory that the lines by Balass in the Sacrifice teaser was directed at Natah to save all the sentients, all she had to do was sacrifice her body for the Margulis who we hear on death bed by using trasferance. This also offer posibility that just like Rell she is suffering from memory loss. Also a quote from wiki "The umbra (Latin for "shadow") is the innermost and darkest part of a shadow, where the light source is completely blocked by the occluding body." and the name Hunhow used for stalker in the second Dream quest waaaass... jup "Shadow". Edit: If the offer was to Natta it could be pausible that Lotus used the teleport on your orbiter to save you, but was not able to help since Stalker locked the door, so Margulis subconsciously used transferance to take temporary controll over your warframe when it was free from your influence during the quest.
Hmm I hadn't actually thought about that, I just assumed she'd have to have built up a relationship with the Tenno for them to so readily betray the Orokin. I'm 99% certain it's definitely canon that she infiltrated the empire but you're right, it doesn't actually say she went in as lotus.
I imagine she didn't mingle among orokin in person, I assume they'd notice someone supposedly executed walking around, I'd guess she hid and contacted tenno remotely and got them to visit her secret location etc.
Dryued Didnt Tenno went on rampage because they found out that Orokin executed Margulis? I thought that was the reason why they slaughtered most of the Orokin.
Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Ordis! Thats it! That little dude had been quiet for a lot of time due to some unknown reason and this I felt kinda alone in the ship, now I know the reason. Damn I literally forgot ordis
You would think that the Orokin would have exploited the Sentients' weakness to ths void sooner, possibly by developing void-based weapons instead of resorting to the Tenno
I would like to say it might be worth a re-look at this now that the ERRA quest introducing the new sentient ERRA, Natah's brother, and the Ropalolyst mission from the Jovian concord update has some more lore drops from Natah which give more clarity on the speculation you had a year ago
I’ve planned to do a massive overhaul in the form of a loreframe 2.0 after the new war is out. The issue is the videos get made obsolete and I end up repeating myself again and again for the sake of collating a meagre few new scraps of information every year.

Or this : Margulis gets executed-> old war starts-> Hunhow send his daughter Natah a sentient mimic to destroy the Orokin empire within-> Natah takes the from of Margulis to look like the Orokin but with a helmet and scarf so they won’t think it’s a her dead body-> lotus defects from the sentients-> stays in the lotus form. Meaning Margulis is dead her corpse is six feet under the ground. Natah looks like her because she is a sentient mimic and stayed in her form. So the lotus is just Natah just mimicking the body of Margulis
Newbie here so take it easy on me! What is that on the screen at 7:07? I thought it was a glitch in the matrix at first but then I started seeing it a lot!
Have you noticed that most of the deatroyed Sentients on the Plains are Snetient carriers, like from the trailer. Of you have, you probably have also noticed that they come in different sizes, from a little bigger than you, to large enough to carry the Gantalyst...
coming back post sacrifice. Ballas says that the sentients turned on the orokin because they knew that even if they did colonize this new world, the orokin would bring ruin to it eventually just like they did earth.
As Sacrifice and Chimera came out well after this video, it's worth noting we have additional hints to that Ballas betrayed the Orokin, and had planned it for a LONG time, even before the Tenno and the Warframes were created, even before Margulis was executed. I'm still a bit confused on the timing of it all, because if that's the case, WHY did he want to betray them, if it wasn't originally Margulis' death? Either way, it seems Ballas was behind it all, intentionally hiding things from the rest of the Orokin. He may even have done something to preserve Margulis' body or consciousness or something. After all, supposedly, Orokin get reborn into new bodies and never really die, based on what we learned from War Within and from Ordis' story in the Codex fragments. Still don't know how the Lotus ended up being connected to all the Tenno through that random throne and her weirdo hat, but again... that was probably all Ballas. I'm thinking after Chimera that he'd tried to cut a deal with the Sentients to "bring Margulis back" or even just providing her with a body, something to that extent, in return for helping them take down his fellow Orokin by sabotaging the Tenno, and maybe he'd been convinced that Natah IS Margulis... and now his eyes are open to the truth of what they meant, that Natah isn't really Margulis, and he only now regrets his deal after losing his humanity and becoming part Sentient. Talk about hindsight, but hey, at least we have a cool Sentient-slaying sword now. I'm really looking forward to the next cinematic quest, which will hopefully answer some questions, while also providing even more questions in DE's slow attempt to drive us all mad.
I think it’s more complex than “they’re the same person” to be honest. For the record though, lotus and margulis are both voiced by Rebecca ford. Who knows if it’s a bait and switch, I suppose we’ll find out in the new war.
After the sacrifice: Coukd it be possible that the mimics are parts of Natah (this could explain howbshe 'mimicked' Margulis' form) Still not entirely certain about the Apostasy prologue And yaaay we already have the larger Eidolons. Yet still no name. Maybe mask of the Revenant will reveal more.
Just re-wached your Chains of harrow content and came up with a theory that the void/void damage is dengerous to the kuva within the sentients and not sentients directly. It maybe drains kuva from their bodys. With that in mind and knowing that Orokin use kuva to poses other bodys, I theorize that the adult bodys on Zariman 10-0, got clenzed of all kuva in their bodys therefor casting the Orokin out of the host bodys. The original body owners or whats left of them went on a revane murder spree also explains why the children were not effected, exept harnesing the absorbed void energy. Further more the cast out orokin are probably the man in the wall and were trying to poses the children but failing since there were no kuva in their bodys. The only question to answer is what is kuva and what does it exatly does? After a google search in wiki it comes up as synonim for "shadow/reflection"... hmmmmmmmm. Edit: Teshen on the montain sead that kuva grants immortality, it probably needs to periodicaly consumed to stay immortal in the case of Teshen since he is probably older then Rell was, but he is still kicking. And perhaps Orokin lose their povers if they use it that way, as we could see the older queen in "War within" used her staff to focus her power in a similar beam to tenno.
Some ppl think the sentients saw what the orokin did to tau and decided if they got to tau the orokin would ruin tau too so the sentients would just wipe them out.
What if margulis is a sentient and when she was disintegrated she regrew herself but lost all her memories and was taken in by hunhow who then became natah
isnt the sentients created by the orokin to fine a new earth but deduced that ths orokin will inevitably destroy this new place so the sentients rebel. then wf are created to battle the sentients but the orokin failed to control the wf.
Buddy, she betrayed us. Now every tenno in existance ans their pets want to kill her, personally just a quick and painless execution, i don't want her to agonice.
Maybe the Umbra variation has to do with tenno sacrificing their dependence of Marghulis/Natah. Or maybe they are fully committed to the voids powers at that point where before hand the tenno only stuck a foot or leg into it
Margulis IS dead, but Natah used our memories of Margulis to recreate herself as the lotus. Her connection to us keeps her (to a degree) slaved to our minds. Ballas, I believe, is isolating her from us to try and show her that her devotion to us is a result of our will being impressed upon her, and not of her own volition.
From what I understand, Nataah was sterilized from the trip to the Origin System, damaging her perception on her goal/purpose in some way. This wouldn’t be seen until the point where she deviated from the plan of Hunhow. I’m not sure exactly when Nataah should up to aid the Tenno, but it must have been late in the Old War, unbeknownst to the Orokin. It is believed that the last objective of Hunhow’s plan that was actually completed was his staged defeat on Uranus (used to let the Orokin’s guard down) and the murder of the Executors at the hands of the Tenno during the Tenno Absolution Ceremony. I personally believe that the Orokin never REALLY knew of Nataah’s presence, but instead she observed Margulis, either directly by watching before her death, or indirectly by studying records of her after her execution. Either way, Nataah felt the same; infertile from the trip to the Origin System, she wanted children of her own. So she took the appearance of Margulis, and became the Lotus. This could explain why she wears the Lotus helmet and why Ballas sees her directly as Margulis. As the lore entails. Margulis was blinded by the Tenno children, which makes sense of the Lotus helmet, which has no direct eyeholes.
NEW CANON ALERT: the sentients gained perspective in Tau and realised what the Orokin would do to it, as they did to Earth. As such, they decided that for the good of the universe, they should kill their creators.

I'm really looking forward to the next cinematic quest, which will hopefully answer some questions, while also providing even more questions in DE's slow attempt to drive us all mad.
YES MOAR LOAR
Lotus: Iam not who do you think iam.
Ballas: But ofcourse you are ........... as she was.
I think it’s more complex than “they’re the same person” to be honest. For the record though, lotus and margulis are both voiced by Rebecca ford. Who knows if it’s a bait and switch, I suppose we’ll find out in the new war.
The sentients knew that the Orokin trashed the origin system, and wished to prevent this from happening to the tau system
After the sacrifice:
Coukd it be possible that the mimics are parts of Natah (this could explain howbshe 'mimicked' Margulis' form)
Still not entirely certain about the Apostasy prologue
And yaaay we already have the larger Eidolons.
Interesting concept that Natah didn't infact have a change of heart but was infact captured and used as a new body to essentially hide Margulis
Ballas also knew she was different cause of the line ‘just as she was’
He just love her so much he came for lotus
Some ppl think the sentients saw what the orokin did to tau and decided if they got to tau the orokin would ruin tau too so the sentients would just wipe them out.
Is anybody else questioning how the hell do he have that frame
Excalibur prime making you look like a god
And now we have mimics
What if margulis is a sentient and when she was disintegrated she regrew herself but lost all her memories and was taken in by hunhow who then became natah
isnt the sentients created by the orokin to fine a new earth but deduced that ths orokin will inevitably destroy this new place so the sentients rebel.
then wf are created to battle the sentients but the orokin failed to control the wf.
Something to think about
What if rell was stalker instead of harrow? Lotus says stalker was drawn mad and rell was mad.
this man is a treat. =v=
Space mom is forever I hope
Buddy, she betrayed us. Now every tenno in existance ans their pets want to kill her, personally just a quick and painless execution, i don't want her to agonice.
Maybe the Umbra variation has to do with tenno sacrificing their dependence of Marghulis/Natah. Or maybe they are fully committed to the voids powers at that point where before hand the tenno only stuck a foot or leg into it
My vote is on the "man in the wall" theory on why the sentients changed the way they did.
So the sentients are basically the skynet of warframe
2:25 when was this???
I think the man in the wall is a result of the Void and it’s probably part of it too.but as for sentients they are technically good people
Man, there's so many fascinating possibilities for the lore, but they're just taking their very, ve r y , v e r y sweet time with this
Tell me about it 😒 if it keeps up like this I’m gonna be focussing other games next year
@@xayl for shame! I guess DE must be biting off way more than they can chew and they're going to regret it :(
@@lotgc We'll see, supposedly next year is "the year of lore" but I'll believe it when I see it
At this point, I don't xare that much about the game anymore, but who knows, maybe they will redeem themselves
Vay hek is the true mastermind of it all!
I can't wait till the next cinematic quest because the sacrifice raised more question than it answered I hope soon they make a 2 hour quest
Maybe lotus is just the lotus... shaped helmet? Sentients are robots after all.
7:51 i wona see that in game! where is that?
PURGE JMI Uranus, one of the spawn rooms
that bungee shade tho
Wait, what is this at 4:21? A quest that I missed somehow? Or one that I forgot about?
I can't remember that scene.
it's the octavia's anthem boss fight :)
Oh ok, had the quest for ages. gonna start now.
Man we miss ya Xayl. You should cover other lore topics in different franchises.
The orokin couldn't make shit without it trying to kill them
I think ballas made a deal with hunhow to “remake” margulis in exchange for info on the Orokin and Tenno
The oculysts look like popsicle sticks made out of blue Jell-O
