Agree with the critiques...this is a very incomplete tutorial, especially for one trying the techniques for the first time. Also it contains erroneous and contradictory information, as does with the pattern itself. Just one example where the video could be bolstered...how to deal with the sleeve hole opening and dress waistline after placing sleeve stiches on the stich holder? Pull the remaining stitches tight, or keep that bottom part of the sleeve loose?

Can you show how you do this part Divide for sleeves: Skip
first 25 sts. Slip next 33 sts onto st holder for Left Sleeve.
Skip next 47 sts. Slip next 33 sts onto st holder for Right
    Sleeve. Leave rem 21 sts
on circular needle and proceed as
    follows across rem 93 sts
for Skirt. Place marker at end of rnd.

    So on Row 2 for Chart 1 it's: (K1, P1) twice. Then K1. P7 , to last 4 sets.
which are seed stitch. As so many folks are having difficulty (I've been knitting at least 40 years), why not re-write the pattern and redo the video.

It really would have been helpful to see how one joins at row 13 with RS facing, and yarn on the wrong needle - just knitting won't join it, from what I can see, yet we need to begin with the (K1.P1.)Twice, so needs to be where you start. Another knitter said she joined on row 14.

  • @nubialopez8136

Wish there was more to this video. As far as I can tell the joining in the round really begins at the next step. And I've counnted many times after separating stitches for the sleeves and my remaining numbers are still off. Also I'm confused as to where to move the stitch marker once I've separated the sleeves because where I left off the knitting is somewhere in the middle of the back of the dress. I also did notice the pattern I downloaded is written differently than the one in this video. So it's very misleading. No wonder it's hard for new knitters to learn from this.

I have a question about the rounds before dividing for the sleeves. I’m making the 12 month size. I did the 29th round, then an alt round. Then I did the 30th rnd. Do I do an alt rnd after the 30th rnd? Do I do the same on the 2 rnd repeat for the 12 month size? That would make sense in order to maintain the seed stitch. I really wish this video would have showed this part and how to divide for the sleeves.

It is impossible you joined after row 12. The 4 stiches you cast off is not at the beginning of your row when the video start so the video and the pattern is incorrect to join in round. However, I joined AFTER row 13

Has anyone successfully completed this pattern by reading it? I have ripped it out three times now and find this video unhelpful. Is there an error in the text? Somehow there are three stitches left over after joining and the lace isn’t lining up... can’t figure out where I’m miscounting. All my numbers are correct based on what’s written 😫

      @carmenmarialucia5266 2 года назад +2

Hi, yes you can, I downloaded the pdf pattern then I edit it myself, I cast it on 78 stitches and it works just fine, you just have to figured out how big you want the dress to be or the sweater, I actually multiply x6 stitches per each pattern and it works. The lady on the video doesn't explain very good and she explains a little too fast which makes a little difficult to understand so I figured out by myself. You can cast on as many sts as you like as long as it's a multiply of 6.

I don't understand why this is tutorial is not starting from the beginning but start from row 4? I like Mikey, as he starts from reading the pattern and going from row one. Isn't that the purpose of a tutorial, to start from the beginning and explain how it works?!

    • @katilynwhitson3105

This also covers the most simplistic and self explanatory part of the pattern. Most people can read the directions if they got this far into knitting. I've made top down raglans before and the most difficult part is separating the sleeves and getting them working again at the end, in the proper direction as well so the knitting doesn't look off. And most patterns don't explain it; they just say do it. They missed an opportune moment here to explain and show a complicated process many people may not have ever done before because they are unfamiliar with top down raglans.
