- This is another video in my "finding urban parkups" series that I'm slowly adding to over time, I had a look on RUclips for what other van lifers had done and said about parking up at supermarkets but there wasn't really much out there apart from the american's in Walmart which is great but doesn't really help us here in the UK!
So! I thought why not do a new set of videos stealth camping in supermarket car parks!

I didn't know the government had issued a driving ban infact there now saying there is no risk from someone driving around alone in their I'm a full time van dweller and I live 365 days a year in self isolation and I ain't giving a fuck about where I park or drive to I ain't got a home im off grid as far as I'm concerned keep away from my van then there is no issue and I will be on the move to keep away from the usual anti travler dick heads

@@davidlamont5793 Agreed. No reason for anyone not to drive especially in a motorhome. Some seem to think it's for essential needs only, that is just Govt guidance not the law. I drive a few miles to a woodland to walk daily and there is a motorhome that moves around near me still.

It’s not the wardens you need to worry about pal. It’s them nobs that fit ANPR cameras that log you in and out.
Bug out vehicles UK plan ahead and remove ur front number plate b4 u enter 😂😂😂
@ Better idea is to have some black insulation tape with you. Pick a letter or number that you can convincingly alter with a piece of straight tape.
E.g. Change 'F' to 'E' or 'J' to 'U'.
Don't forget to do front and back and don't forget to remove it once you're on public highways.

I'm a contractor and often work for a few major supermarkets. I've slept over in their car parks quite a few times.Parking Eye is your biggest threat through the day but on an evening it's not in use.
@@JeffCM1 The IOW is a strange little place. I worked on both Morrison's there a few years back. I ended up on a campsite on Military Road in the south. It was purely because I had the Mrs with me and she has her "needs" :-D
isn't stealth camping meant to me in a vehicle where people don't know its a camper.

I tried two park up in Tesco, as they have boards up saying no over night parking.
I went to sainsburys and they have no restrictions but after two nights I was moved on by the manager.
Does he have a right to move u on?
Don’t worry about the gritters mate, that’s my job. We are just contracted, we turn up , put the salt down and go. I’m surprised it didn’t wake you up, there well noisy 😂
Very apt video! Tonight whilst spending couple of hours in Tesco car park (as three hour limit) I then shifty out on to quiet dead end side road where I often park (nice and close to work). Had my first ever door knocker!!!!!! Opened door and was just bloke who's about to repaint lines in car park asking if I wouldn't mind moving, he was nice and polite, and of course I moved no problems 😁

you'd get away with stealth parking at asda,morrisons,and tesco,up my part of Scotland,no one gives a feck !
I'd be very very tempted to drive to the most northernly part of the UK, then head south and getting a brass from every town and city I pass, and mark them out of ten. If the campervans rocking, don't come knocking
They read ur reg as u come in. Check on way out . U night get ticket in post.

the road that comes off the roundabout towards tesco entrance,usually there are 1 or 2 trucks and the odd camper parked on the left on a regular basis...might be a bit quieter than actually going into the car park
i think if you think ahead, knock on door, sorry mate red light kept coming on while i was driving, going to take it to a dealer in the morning. I am so sorry but i was really worried that my engine might breakdown.
Just watched the news and in Cumbria (Lake District in particular) they are stopping All Vans/Motorhomes/Caravans. On the A38 yesterday a caravaner's was stopped and charged for not having a valid reason for being out. Have you or are you worried about this?
I used to work trolleys at Tesco, and this miserable old fuck I was forced to walk around with noticed a stealth camper parked up in the corner one morning. I myself had already noted it and thought it's none of my business; it's not like they are bothering anyone by being there and had zero intentions of reporting it. What does the nosey prick do; he marches off immediately to report it to the nearest manager. He really was such a sad little man. On another occasion a Dodge Ram entered the car park, sending him into an overload of complaints about the dangers of such a large vehicle being on small British roads. I've never seen a man turn so red in the face. Was quite the entertainment!

You have to watch it because some of them have parking restrictions there are ANPR cameras as you go in and out

I have parked in Tesco's at church Langley and Edinburgh way Harlow many times overnight and never had a problem 😃

when it comes to staying at Tesco , basically if you dont take the mick then youre good to go , the managers are far to busy to worry about you and security wont get involved unless customers moan about you , those tescos with the time cameras all you have to do is arrive and when you're about to leave put some packing tape over half the number plate and the system wont be able to see your plate so , by default , they dont send a ticket ,
however with the camera clocking in ones if you dont cover your plate then they are red hot at sending tickets if you outstay the time , they are run by computers and do it automatically
so dont upset the customers , eg dont park in a disabled space or set up a bbq , and you should be fine
But the when you go shopping 3 weeks later the camera will think you're just leaving after being there 3 weeks!

corona laws for gypos and travelers now say they cant move you on if you say you are self isolating. also counts for continuous cruising waterways.

Some supermarkets near us have ANPR cameras instead of wardens to stop the 'boy racers' at night using them as a racetrack - so just be mindful of them!
You are a clever man sir, living in a motorhome you save a fortune on rent ,heating and electric costs and bonus is you got your own space and freedom, im currently renting a room in a shared house its ok but as you know theres always trouble eventually in these shared living places as people all want their own space and privacy, im the type of guy who tries to be friendly to everyone but some are just down right anti social, in one houseshare i live in in High Wycombe i was living with a woman who was bi-polar totally crazy i had to live with her for 2 years until shit hit the fan and i had enough, luckily was able to find a place straight away but its not nice when you live under someone elses rules.

I think your urban park ups look like a better bet. You are right that if you choose the wrong night some rude boys in a corsa will be keeping you awake all night being bellends.
What's the machine you used to remove the condensation on your windscreen, looked everywhere, can't find one, love the videos, keep them coming.

Hi mate, what insurance companies can you recommend for the motorhome?
As far as I was aware UK law used to be that the parking penalty charge was based on the hourly parking fee, hence if there is NO parking fee there cannot be any charge, these private parking vigilante company's try using bully boy tactics to make people pay, but challenge them in the small claims court and they will back down the day before the court case date, you need to check if this is still UK law.

I always find industrial estates great places to park over night the problem with supermarket car parks is "parking eye" their doesn't need to be attendants they just record the time of number plates entering and leaving the car park

Great video. Though these days when restrictions are lifted I would opt for somewhere more rural. What would you have done if they had knocked on your door? Ignore them and hope they think youve just left the van there overnight or answer the door?

At night try putting a disposable nappy on the dash, it helps eliminate the condensation. Stay safe.

It's not actually a ticket they issue you it's only an invoice,the only people who can issue a parking warden who works for the council or the police,hope yourstaying safe.

But as the notices say, you accept terms and conditions by parking, so you accept receipt of the invoice and are then liable to pay it.
You'll be persued through small claims court and have bailiffs knocking on the door of address of the registered keeper of the vehicle.
If you don't want the grief it's easier to pay up.

Ive tried supermarkets, and they wont accept you to stay more than 3 hours. If you want to stay overnight you have to pay another company.

Great video, I have been thinking about buying a van to live in because rent is getting expensive and a loan for a van would be easy to pay off when not paying rent.

I reckon you could have issues if you were in a converted van and there for more than one night. I don't think people mind proper motor homes as much.

Parking fines from supermarkets are unenforceable
they are as its private land and there are signs up warning you , i forget how many customers i had coming in moaning they never saw the very obvious signs , however if you do my suggestion and cover your number plate when you leave you wont get a ticket
Some car parks for tescos hit you with cameras as you go in so be aware that you might get stung

every big supermarket should allow overnight campers unless they take the piss, it would be free security for them to report any nob heads frigging about!

I've got two outstanding fines from the same supermarket. It reads your plate on the way in. So now I pull into the petrol station on the same land and cover my plate up with a piece of paper. Job done no more tickets. Also don't pay your fine if you get one . Check online first to see what people have to say about these dodgy parking company's.
You most likely all ready know about those pesky ANPR cameras being, increasingly, installed on retail car parks. Good luck on your car park camping adventure and be a good/safe baby gadget. WHO'S THAT KNOCKING???
