For the entire interview the camera is focused in extreme close-up on his face. I find that odd, and very unusual. That by itself would make most people uncomfortable. I mean, he's not an actor shooting a scene in close-up!

Of course money is important and the price was huge, however you don't start a tennis career for money and overall, at that level, winning tournaments is a small percentage of what they earn with sponsors and advertisements. You don't become number 1 because you love money or because money is the reason.
The usual haters are pretending Sinner is lying about thinking health, family, and friends are more important than money. They have revealed how jealous they are about the money Sinner makes.
God forbid a person gains a lot of money and tries to stay grounded. He's a liar! When the opposite happens they think they are showing off and spoiled. People are just always going to complain about something. Jannik answered in a very grounded way, he's happy the money are there, but his life is more than good and there are many other aspects which have (and should have) priority over stacking cash.
Rational people understand what Sinner's saying. Irrational haters never will. Partly because they don't have the ability, and partly because they refuse to.

THE SIX KINGS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION SLAM Sinner got 7;5 million petro dollars for 2 matches, including 1;5 million for showing up in this rather disgusting glittering sportswashing event of a despicable medieval regime. That has - see all the reports of Amnesty International - a lot of blood on its hands. The Six Kings Human Rights Violations Slam, that’s how it should be named. I was and still am a fan of Sinner, but his behaviour in this is very disappointing and hypocritical. “I don’t play for money, it was just a nice event and my first time in Riyad”. Come on. At least Alcaraz was honest when asked about his motives to play there, saying “ I’d be lying by saying that the money does not matter”. He and Sinner are still young, but not too young to know and understand that in that villain state all sorts of basic human rights are violated, including torture and murder. Probably or possibly also within just a couple of miles from the stadium where they greedily have liven up the party of their unscrupulous Saudi hosts. Thus shame on all six players for getting bought and bribed with unprecedented ridiculous amounts of filthy money, all to glorify a criminal autocratic regime. They should have refused to participate, or should at least have donated this money to charities. For example all the victims (and their relatives) of this regime. And finally; are there any critical tennis journalists at all! who ask relevant and critical questions ? And don’t let Sinner get away with a hollow and hypocritical reaction as mentioned before? Let’s look forward to the next press conference(s). I wonder…
Why is Sinner the only one you're mad at? Because he won? Alcaraz was there, too. Your bias is showing. It renders everything else you say moot. Also, Sinner said money was one of the motivations to play, but not the only one. Alcaraz said the same thing, so why is one of them open and honest and one of them a liar? Again, because you're biased. 🤮
