BritainForTheBritish Yes, Iraq was from Sykes- Picot Agreement in 1916 British sphere of influence. He just wanted to keep it. America going there alone would have taken another 'British' teritory for itselfi. I think, Blair was thinking that it was his historical duty to prevent this from happening.

Swedish social-liberal here (left-wing of L), and I'm in wonder over why the hatred of Blair is so widespread. Every time he is interviewed he comes across as clear, insightful and honest, and as a man who honestly just wants what is best for his country. This in stark contrast to charachters such as May, Corbyn, Farage, Rees-Mogg and Johnson. I absolutely agree that he f'd up Irak but he had good company in that disaster and it shouldn't disqualify him on non-war issues.

Yes, very pertinent points; he is usually forensic and decent in his analyses. It’s always troubled me the level of vitriol that’s aimed at him especially online. I can only assume that the right wing tabloids must have targeted him (I suppose for being a relatively left wing PM with some aspirations to regulate unfettered capitalism and redistribute a little unearned wealth) for hate with laser like intensity and then people get into their heads he’s all that’s wrong with the world.
It’s childish and simplistic, and they all egg each other on until they think everyone hates him. I’ve seen extremely violent language used towards Blair many many times on YT and it’s truly troubling.

It's hardly democratic to vote again for something that wasn't even implemented the first time. I didn't know politics was about throwing our toys out the pram and pretend to offer options when really there wasn't one.
