    I'm so glad you like Colchester. I was born there in 1958 and it was a beautiful place to grow up as a child, but I knew it had nothing there for me as an adult. So I left for North America, where I went to university and got a graduate degree and a super career working for my new country's government. I have never experienced racism, as I'm white. I did date a girl in Colchester for three years, whose dad was from the Caribbean and her mum was from Nottingham. She experiemced racist comments from time-to-time and it's the only time in my life that I have had to fight. I wish your family a safe, happy and prosperous life there!

    Thank you for this informative video, I am considering moving to Colchester and this is super useful. I am not sure if you attend a church, but if you do, are there diverse ones locally? 🙏

    I've been in Colchester a similar amount of time. When I first moved here I thought everyone was racist then I realised people are just backward here in general not racist. Other than that Liberal Democrats are constantly in your face, Council Tax is pretty high, food is not up to par, waste collections are a nightmare and the roads have the worst surfaces I have seen anywhere in the UK but it is definitely a peaceful & safe area.

    I've just watched your Colchester video and it sounds lovely there. However you mentioned if you don't drive it's hard and I don't intend getting a licence .So would you say it wouldn't be the right place to live?
    Also that eventually you'll move back nearer to London. Interesting as you say you like it there

    Just curious why you’d want to move closer to, or back to London.
    This was a really lovely video. Thank you.

    Hi, pls I'm looking to move towards London and I have Essex on my mind. I have a few questions.
    1. How safe is Essex? Especially for kids
    2.Is it family friendly?
    3. Availability of Jobs??
    4. Quiet or bustling like London?
    5.Distance to london...
    PLS i'm sorry I'm asking for too much😊. Just that i want to move out of my current location ASAP...
    Thanks

      Hiya, I would say it's quite safe, definitely much safer than London! It's definitely family friendly, in my videos I talk quite a bit about different child friendly activities and there's some websites and links in the description box. It's very quite, very different to London. Everything is quiet by like 7pm lol. But it's peaceful which I personally like. Colchester is like an hour and 15 mins from London but south essex is much closer to London. There are lots of jobs but depends on your profession. Hope this helps.

      I've lived in a few parts of Essex. Different parts of Essex are very different to each other. Ie Dagenham compared to Chelmsford are nothing alike.

    Hi thanks for this vid I’m looking to move to this area actually a little outside in tiptree I would love to know the schools you like also is the school ur nephew going private ? Really keen to get feedback about schools as I have 3 kids … also keen to know the black barbers and the nail and hair shop sorry for the questions just one of the few brown person I’ve seen I can ask

    • @patienceaobasi79
      @patienceaobasi79  Год назад

      Hiya, I don't know much about Tiptree it's a bit of a distance. No, my brother goes to a public school not private. There are some really good schools in the area, but black pupils are very much the minority which does at times cause issues. There are at least 2 black barber shops in Colchester town but not sure about Tiptree. There's an abundance of nail shops in Colchester town. Hope this helps? DM me on instagram if you need any more information and I will do my best x

      @@patienceaobasi79 thanks for your reply Colchester town is a 10 min drive so not far where we are moving from my kids are already minority so I have navigated through that it’s just acceptance and tolerance are my main concerns as they haven’t had any issues with exclusion here I will definately dm you I would love the names of the barbers

      My sister lives in Tipree, and she has 4 kids who are mixed race. They love their schools/nursery. She likes it there and I often visit. Although the majority of people there are Caucasian I have never sensed any racism there, and she has never mentioned any issues. There are definitely no black barber shops there. Stanway or even maldon are more local to Tiptree than Colchester for shopping, etc.

    Thank you for this as im lookjng at a house in Co2 area was tlld its near the army lot. Im moving with my son and was worried about diversity, but have a friend and her family who have lived there for over 12years and she love sit and is trying to get everyone she knows to move from London to Colchester. Ive heard mixed reviews especially about Greenstead, why is that? I was told to check out the local supermarkets to get an idea of the diversity and population there and can say it was just like beingnin East London.tbh the only racist thing i had towards me was as a child in East London apart from that nothing. Im just worried as i have a son and men and older boys will try it but jn comparison to the gang mania here jn East London im not too worried

      Hiya, yes lots of jobs care work is very easy to get in this area. Lots of other jobs too, really depends on your qualifications and what you are looking for. I really don't know much about the uni but I will see what I can do 😅

    • @patienceaobasi79

      And yes it is safe in my opinion. Before I moved I researched and compared the crime rates and they were very safe. As with any area, you have to remain vigilant overall, but I've not had any negative experiences personally.

    The British are by enlarge very welcoming. Racists are few & far between. In over half a century in England I have only met two racists & they born in Edwardian times. Very old. I have seen immigrants hating on immigrants though. There's too much of that.

    • @patienceaobasi79
      @patienceaobasi79  Год назад +2

      Defo agree that the majority of people are friendly and welcoming but it would be ignorant to think racism doesn't exist in the UK and isn't an issue many face regularly, even in 2023! And yes there's issues wherever you go from all different types of people. This video is really just to help those coming who are not White English and who are thinking of moving to Colchester to know that I've had a lovely experience here overall, as this something I was nervous about before moving. Thanks :)
