Climbed it in the early 90s with wife and 2 oldest kids. I had to carry the 2 kids the whole time tho. You can literally run down the other side but it's a lot of loose dirt and rocks and you can have a nasty fall. I can't do 10% of either of those 2 things now. 😞
Nicely done. We are at Garner right now trying to decide if the hike up Baldy is worth it. We just did the two graffiti caves, and the trails were pretty badly maintained with lots of loose rocks and cut trails. 😬
Visiting Concan in a few weeks and was really excited to hike Old Baldy early in the morning to catch the sunrise at the top. Do you think this is possible with the park opening not until 8am?
Probably not unless you decide to camp there. The sun will definitely be rising earlier. But it’s would still be a great climb…and you’d still beat the crowds to the top. Hope your trip goes well!
So the ledges actually aren’t narrow at all. You can get to the top without getting too close if you want to stay away from the edges. It’s a fun climb and totally worth it!
We have this park on our "to-go-to list"! Looks like a great hike and some pretty spectacular views from the top there. Not bad for Texas! That trail looks like you need to pay attention for sure with all of those loose rocks.
I started to ask you the other day if you were making videos of this trip. And then I realized that would have been a dumb question. Of course! Looked like a cool hike. Definitely love the views. That was A LOT of people though. 😳 Your girls (and dog!) did a great job getting to the top. T And that river looked nice!
You know it! I love shooting anything that we are doing...and yes that was a LOT of people. It was still a great hike though. The girls really enjoyed this one and having the river to use as a bribe really helps!
We went there recently also but y'all were blessed to have nice, sunny weather! Makes us want to go back again! How did your dogs handle the hike afterwards?
Excellent video! Thanks for making it and sharing it!
Hey thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Im definitely doing this 😍
It’s a fun climb, enjoy!

Oh man, I’ve been there before. That makes for a long hike. I’m glad you got to experience when you did!

Thank you! Definitely do Baldy! The view at the top is great...especially along the cliffs!

Looks like a fun family outing! I bet that swim felt good after the hike.
Oh man that swim was perfect after that hike! Definitely bribed the girls to finish quicker to get to the River.
@@TheNotLostNomad Ha! Parenting tactics :)
@@ChucoHiker , definitely! Do what you have to do! That same tactic backfired on me in Lost Maples...the lake at the end of the hike was closed off!
@@TheNotLostNomad I would not have wanted to deal with that fallout! Thanks for the good laugh :)

Cool video, we love Garner !
Thank you! I think we fell in live with Garner too!

Definitely! Right now is a great time to go...being the off season the crowds are way down. Outside of the park at least. You guys will love it!
That view is awesome! Like y’all’s pup! I’ve also came out a different trail than the one I went in. Lol. Lost Maples is not too far from there.
Thank you! He's definitely a member of the family!

Oh man it was a perfect day for sure! We had the one Yorkie with us and he was trekking up those hills like a goat. We couldn’t keep up with him!
