do you think it bent when wuenchimg because the blade istoo thin ? i hope there are not too much stress in the metal , few years back i seen on youtube some folks to make their blade curve up they heat it up the straight blade then in a basin full of liquid of some form ( water i think) they slowly dip it starting with the tip then quickly follow through with the length while still holding at the end above water and you see the blade curve up
Most likely it was because of the different thickness of the blade. I don't fully understand what happened. I think the hardening as you described is necessary so that the blade hardens only on the edge and is not so brittle.

I have made one whose length is 4.6 cm
4 cm is cool, it would be interesting to see. I got 9cm ..
