- After crashing out in qualifying there was a race against time to get Jake Hill's Ford Capri ready for the first heat of the Gordon Spice Trophy at the 80th Goodwood Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. What followed was a titanic battle with WTCC champion Rob Huff's Camaro.

Not applicable here, but Ric Wood's company are the only people you need if you want a Ford-Cosworth GA V-6 engine rebuilt.
I saw Jake Hill write the car off in qualifying, it was smashed to bits!Big shout to those mechanics getting the car up and running… that’s actually unbelievable!

I'm so pleased the Goodwood Members Meeting has a race honouring the memory of Gordon Spice. I remember Gordon from my days as an unpaid 'go-fer' with Tony Kitchiner when Gordon drove in F5000 with the Kitchiner K-3B, his own McLaren M10B and it's subsequent rebuild, the 'Kitchmac'. Gordon was a really great guy and you could never dial enough oversteer into a car for him.
Thank you Goodwood, for year after year entertainment.

This is the story I have been telling everyone about the weekend. How a team pulled it all back together and won with a bruised and bloodied Capri. I loved watching the work being done in the pits as much as the race.
The Ford Capri was and is an amazing car. They are more than proven in the racing world and back in the day they won everything.
I saw the n°5 Bastos Camaro race in the early 80's at the Zolder racetrack, driven by Andre Lierneux and Reine Wissel
Hill is absolutely spectacular in his defense. What a show of pure driving skill...
They should make a championship of these group 1 races there absolutely fantastic to watch

Of all the beautiful cars and great racing over the weekend my favourite moment was watching Jake Hill laid down crying at the side of the track because he’d crashed with nobody else round him to blame (although by the time he got to be interviewed he’d convinced himself there was oil down … which didn’t seem to catch anybody else lol) The very reason I can’t stand him as a race driver is because everything has to be somebody else’s fault, he’s completely incapable of saying “ whoops I pushed too hard and made a mistake, my bad” like a normal person.
Interesting that your favourite moment of the weekend was a driver crashing and being distraught at having damaged a car...not the incredible action and amazing cars and drivers on display...
Just as a point you said 'by the time he got interviewed he'd convinced himself there was oil down' ...
In fact he was convinced it WAS his mistake and was openly saying so to the crew at Ric Wood Motorsport and those around him - it was five hours between the qualifying accident and lining up for the race that afternoon - during that time he was told by marshals and by other drivers that there was oil dropped by another car - he was the first car on track after a previous Red Flag and therefore came across it before everyone else...
I am curious though as to your point that 'everything has to be someone else fault' as I have been around for all 200+ BTCC races he's competed in, plus all of his support races and other events, and rarely seen him go off on his own, and if you speak with the teams he's driven for and the media he's incredibly tough on himself and very honest - so I'm interested in what you're basing this opinion on?
