An anomaly if there ever was one, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is a device that makes little sense in a bunch of ways. So confounding was it that we put off doing an unboxing until now simply because we couldn’t get Samsung to agree to send one over to us. Stating that they didn’t even send out review units on this strange, little device, we simply continued to overlook this oddball Chromebook until recently.
Why have we decided to finally buy one and unbox it? It mainly comes down to curiosity. With Samsung’s very interesting track record in the Chromebook market, we all wondered if maybe we were overlooking something in Samsung’s latest efforts at a new ChromeOS device. As it turns out, that wasn’t the case, but this Chromebook does have a few really interesting additions that make it worth a look, even if it isn’t really worth the asking price.

I have been using this for about 6 months and I like it. I only open about 4 to 6 tabs a time but have had no problems with it. It is my daily driver and it works great for me. I do not play games on it or anything like that but I do work on it and have had no problems. It does not weigh very much so having it in my back pack and carrying it around works fine.
I also want to thank Chrome Unboxed you helped to move to a Chromebook. Will never go back to Windows or Mac. Thank you
I still have the Samsung Chromebook from 2020. And although the user experience is not the best as you mentioned. The battery only last a few hours and the bottom gets warm. So using it on your lap becomes uncomfortable. It's still such a beautiful machine that just feels special. From the 4k screen and the aluminum build...and, even the glass track pad, the hide away stylus or the white charger that came with it.
Since then I feel that Samsung is just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
Does yours also have weird coloration problems with like RUclips? And double key presses?
Thank you for a very real, yet simplistic to the point review.
No BS and neutral standing point. It helps a lot in decision making process for us who are thinking to buy it.
Keep the good work!
Cheers
I just got my Galaxy Chromebook 2 and I love it so much 😮but I definitely hope in the next two years or so they do a new one.
I really wanted to buy that Samsung orange Galaxy Chromebook when launched, but for reasons unknown, Samsung didn't sell Chromebooks in the UK at that time. Now Samsung sell Chromebooks in the UK along with their smartphones, tablets, and impressive Windows laptops, but the specs on their Chromebooks are so unaspiring I wouldn't want to own one. I recently purchased an Acer Spin 513 Chromebook with the MediaTek Kompanio 1380 (8 cores) processor with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and at £399 it cost £100 less than the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 with meagre Celeron N4500 (2 core) processor with low clock speed and 4GB RAM! No contest! I wonder if Samsungs lack lustre Chromebook showing is over its concern that Chromebook sales may impact their Android tablet sales volume?
Still waiting for a successor to my venerable 2018 Samsung Chromebook Plus. I may wait a little longer!
Acer seems to have the best balance of build quality and features. The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is the Chromebook to beat. For me, a Chromebook is for safe travel where a stolen/damaged laptop is not an event as everything is in the cloud.
I have the spin 713 and it’s fantastic as a small work device. The big gripes of mediocre trackpad and keyboard are a non issue docked
@@mattpecevich3749 I am thinking to buy one. Are you using 11th gen cpu?
@@mosyui yes 11th gen i5 with 8/128. I also use a 16” MacBook Pro for work and the i5 is also fast even if it has lower benchmarks. My only complaint is the keyboard and trackpad are meh. Especially the track pad.
The 713 at least is available used for $350-$400.
@@mattpecevich3749 Is 10th gen and 11th gen big different? I found one used 713 with i5 10th gen, 8gb ram 128gb below $300.
I switched from a Samsung Chromebook Pro to an Acer Chromebook Spin 713 a couple years ago and the speed alone has made it far easier to get work done, but there are a few things I still miss about the Pro. The biggest one is the S Pen. The writing experience with the S Pen felt smoother, it was really nice not having to worry about a battery (I still occasionally go to use my USI pen and it doesn't work and I realize I need to plug it in and use it awkwardly plugged in while it charges), and I loved I could use the S Pen across my Chromebook and phone. I do wonder if Google has been really strict about only allowing USI pen technologies on Chromebooks, so maybe the double whammy of Samsung's second Chromebook (after the Pro/Plus series) not doing well and Chromebooks not really fitting into their ecosystem any more without the S Pen technology has led to them basically bowing out of the Chromebook marketplace.
I have been disappointed with the "universal" nature of USI so far. To me the S Pen/EMR technology is the smoothest writing experience, but USI even feels clunkier than the couple of Windows active styluses I've tried in stores. If it is really supposed to be a USB-level format, I would expect a lot more refinement and to start seeing it on other devices. I've been expecting Google to start having it on Android devices, especially their Pixel phone which could then become a Note (I guess a Galaxy S+ now) competitor. So far it just seems to be a budget pen format for Chromebooks, though, and isn't really any more universal than Windows active pens. And at least in Windows case, I believe Samsung's Book series of Windows devices uses their S Pen technology over the active Windows styluses, so maybe Google should let at least Samsung use non-USI pen technologies if they aren't going to try to push USI on other devices.
I wouldn't agree with everything that was said, I have been using it a few wks now and its pretty gid
I could get into a QHD screen that folds into a convertible tablet.... But you got to put a better chipset. Sad there's no S pen support. For $350 you could probably get a used Acer spin series device that would make more sense
What do you think in comparison to the first Google Pixelbook? Can you do a short video on the specs and performance. Also looking into getting the Galaxy
I still work with the Pixelbook that remains a device that you like to grab. Because its so nice. I sent this Chromebook back. I thought Robby was still too enthusiastic about this machine.
I don't know much about laptop but this chromebook looks premium and stylish
I bought this chromebook at bestbuy for around $110 as an open box purchase. It's an alright "laptop". The keyboard is passable, the processor could be more powerful, but it's functional. The one feature that almost kills it for me is the screen. Does anyone else think that the gamma or brightness is extremely high on this screen? Its like turning HDR TO THE MAX!!!!!! It's fine to work on this machine for a bit of time, but it evenually starts giving me a headache. Anyone else's thoughts?
I using this a year, it is change my think of chromebook 👍And u should pick Red ♥️
I don't know why the original galaxy chromebook gets so much flak. For me it is still the best overall chromebook around. Ok the battery life is not great but can be somewhat remedied by turning down the brightness a little. In exchange we get a gorgeous display, embedded s-pen, 256Gb ssd, core i5, beautiful chassis and more.
This! The Galaxy Chromebook was my choice of Chromebook. For my needs its perfect only drawback is the trackpad click can be an issue.(I already replaced mine in the 2 years i've had mine) and a separate mouse works wonders if you dont / cant fix it.
my Samsung Chromebook Plus V2, has had numerous hardware issues too...
I'm thinking of getting a Chromebox next time... Since I really don't need the mobility of the laptop...And there are less physical hardware issues to go wrong with a Chromebox... And it can be upgraded....
I currently have the samsung chromebook with the 4k oled display and I used to have the acer chromebook cb 515, both of them used the Intel cpu but call of duty mobile is not compatible with the Intel cpus. I don't know if the newer Intel cpu chromebook supports call of duty mobile. I even tried to sideload call of duty mobile on both the samsung and acer chromebook but call of duty mobile would just crash every time I try to open call of duty mobile. I want a newer chromebook with a 4k display. I even have the original older chromebook pixel before the google play store existed on chromebooks and you had to use the chrome web store to download apps. Anyways, the original chromebook pixel that I have, it has the brightest display even though it's glossy and I really like glossy displays. I'm still waiting for a newer glossy 4k display chromebook. I have a bunch of devices that use 4k, even my sony xperia 1 iv android phone has a 4k 120 hz oled display.
I'm watching this on the first samsung galaxy chromebook it works great it just needed some updates. I must say the battery life is still a problem. Also you still can't beat the 4k screen.
Why is 8gb ram and a decent processor not standard with as much as Chromebooks are capable of?
Probably pricing for the most part
I just saw a lower spec Windows laptop...
For what it's worth I'm thinking of getting a Chromebox, since they are even more upgradable than most Windows devices....
I just bought an HP 14a-na1083cl from Costco. It kind of has the same problems as you're bring up with the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2. Very laggy graphics and an unresponsive laggy mouse. I'm taking it back next week. I'm looking for something as nice as my Acer 311 that I gave away during my last trip to the Philippines.
Guys, what do you choose thinkpad c13 or IdeaPad flex 5i ?
How are you?! amigo- wow~ you made well - godspeed-🔥
I like when they give a product such a bad review you can get cheap. That's why I am watching this on the galaxy chromebook all red, got it for $350.
Is this ok for video editing…
Is there any pen type compatible with this Chromebook?
It's better than galaxy tab S8 Ultra?
What is better? Acer Chromebook Spin 514 CP514-2H-32WF 14" vs Yoga Chromebook C630 i5-8250U 8GB 128GB SSD OS
I was at Best Buy just a few hours ago, poking at one of these very confused by the name. Very bizarre choices made on this one
I want get this
Was looking to replace my Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 (2018 model) for small screen device, and picked up the Lenovo Flex 3i 12" with the N100 from Intel. While performance and video playback is superb, especially at the price even regular, my BIGGEST gripe is the COLOR TEMPERATURE! Lenovo put a super warm screen on it, where browsing Best Buy or B&H or even Google with their white pages hurts my eyes. Came back to this one to see how it would compare, being another 12" class 2 in 1, but with a much better screen with cooler temperature easy on my eyes. When you do review the Lenovo FLex 3i 12" like I'm sure you will, please remark on your experience with the screen. Not just brightness, but specifically COLOR TEMPERATURE. I think all manufacturer's should go for COOLER native displays, and if people wanna filter blue light, use the Night Light feature and adjust warmer. Having a natively super warm screen though is a DEAL BREAKER for me with this Lenovo that just came out.
Never had a Chromebook. is it a good idea to start with worst specs then move up from here? or just save up for the better one.
Get a decent spec used machine. I had an Asus C434 as a main driver for a while and it was gorgeous. Buy cheap and you’ll just hate it.
I would start with mid-level specs probably something like the i3 or 7g1 (If you're using an arm chip).
wait just a real broad question. does anybody using chromebook as their main unit for data analytics? or is it just really for windows or macs?
I love the Chromebook Chrome OS. Since a low power inexpensive CPU runs much more smoothly on it. But all the Chromebooks that I've had were built like crap. That failed due to numerous hardware issues, such as hinges. screws coming loose, keyboard and ports issues. And they were all from well established brands.
If you don't need portability, a Chromebox, which uses a separate keyboard, and monitor, may be a good choice. Plus Chromeboxes are more upgradable, then Chromebooks.
@@MarkDApplel Yes, I have used a Chromebook for data analysis... Chrome OS devices can do it via online applications... or Android apps.... or Linux apps..... or VM emulation is available too...
But if you want to just download an executable file of a program on your PC.... A Chrome OS device is not for you...
Thanks for that nice information
Why don’t any chromebooks have 6 gigs of ram?
I have the duet 5, it has 8GB of RAM
I think the Samsung Chromebook 4+ can be configured with 6 gigs of ram.
I just saw a lower spec Windows laptop...
For what it's worth I'm thinking of getting a Chromebox, since they are even more upgradable than most Windows devices....
I hope you'll review this soon, I need it :((
Not USI compatible, I've heard enough. I have the Chromebook 2 which is USI compatible, this thing really is so confusing.
I never thought there would be a device that I wouldn't want, even if was given to me.... until now!
watching this on my chromebook plus and looks like, a just an updated version, but not really.
I hope you will be doing more reviews on Chromeboxes. Even just five or 10% of your reviews would be be a major help, for any of us.
Too many Chromebooks like this one, fail due to poor I/O and peripheral construction. Such as ports or keyboards or hinges. That plus the greater upgradeability of a Chromebox, means that it is a good option for the home. Plus it could replace a streaming device.
If Google could get game support on Chrome OS it would easily be the best OS
Too many good Chromebooks at all price points to mess with something like this
It's is a touch screen but is good and the best
My bet is that you have to use a Samsung stylus as it's not USI. Is there a Samsung stylus? This is one occasion where I hope I do not win the competition.
Never turn down a free Chromebook, regardless of its specs.
It would be great for students at a lower price point
I had this but traded it in for a 9th gen iPad cuz battery life wasn't holding up for my work use
still loved this device tho
nice design and pretty solid build
Robby -- your exasperation is palpable
Does iTunes work on this ? As a desktop app?
For something over $650, I’d expect more than just “decent”.
🤔 Hmmm interesting. Very confusing.
You didnt even bother to check that charging brick power… 😢 next time just pick some glasses
How i wish i have enough money to buy one🥺😭
This device is more of for children I wanted to get my 7 year old a tablet but this is perfect for his school work and not just he school work he can do his favourite games and watch his favourite movies/TV shows
Some people think is bad

Cheers
Seems good to me i like hoe its a tablet and laptop in one im going to buy this
7:14 밝기 400nits로 좋음.
8:45 키보드 감상. 싸구려 느낌.
That's one of the worst review that I've seen you given a Chronebook. 😫🤷🏾♂️
It took you almost 4 minutes into the video before revealing the Chromebook? Really?
Samsung is more better than Apple
I think it was made for us who can't afford the macbook😁
I sense that you are bored.
What watchface is that?
This device looks like an awful buy. Honestly.
Samsung Manufacture's Good Screens....
You're probably correct....
Someone Else finished it....
A lot of nitpicking and complaining about little things..keys wobbling? What are you trying to domwithna tablet? Control a robot army ? ..its a tablet
I traid in giveaway but it lasts

ChromeOS updates end 2030
Yes, Robby's findings are palpable. I'm hoping that we are looking at the same model, as some of the comments clearly indicate different models in use. Thing is, I just picked one up after my original Galaxy Chromebook with aluminum build and flat keyboard (that eventually I adapted to and enjoyed) is close to losing Chrome OS updates in 2024. I agree this model is not aluminum but at first I was fooled, it felt so good and rigid. Screen 16x10 and excellent. 60 Hz refresh but more takes away battery. I liked this keyboard from first touch, even without back-lighted keys. The screen adequately illuminates the keyboard, plus touch typing mostly takes care of this, especially with the bright screen illumination. Touchpad feels just right - no issues. If I find slowdowns with tabs open, that's the only downside I'm looking out for but, I don't expect to find that. My use case is for EDC about the house and during travel. Mostly reading.
This is my third Chromebook since starting replacement for the aging original Samsung Chromebook 360. The other two are excellent was well and each of the three do have slightly different use cases. Horses for courses.
