Why would anyone think you stop loving a loved one who has passed. Doesn't mean you can't ever love again. But a new love never erases an old one when that old one is no longer there because they've passed. When someone becomes involved with someone who is "widowed" (quotation marks because it applies to non-married relationships also), they have to deal with that. Too many can't because they are so sold on the idea of us having only one soul mate and overblown romantic notions instead of sharing time with someone you really like being with and who wants to be with you. And you have to accept that, if that significant other had lived, they might well still be with that person. Also, people don't understand that grief isn't a defined process. There's no time limit on how long it takes and certain events can trigger a wave of it. And it can be bypassed or denied, only worked through to the point where memories trigger happy thoughts rather than pain. Sounds to me from the interviews that Chris has given, that he spent a lot of time to avoid the grieving process altogether rather than dealing with it in smaller bits. But we live in a society where people, in general, want to avoid grief altogether. And certainly, when Selena died, grief counseling wasn't something that was common. Sounds to me though, Chris is now getting to the point where memories of her don't cause pain, or at least not as much.
