- Walk Into the Gates of Hell Homeless Los Angeles California Skid Row. Lets walk thru the heart of Los Angeles Homeless Encampments and watch a man DYI construct his homeless shelter from wood.
Certainly! *Skid Row* in *Los Angeles* is a neighborhood with a *long history* of homelessness. Here are some key points:
#streetlife #homelesslosangeles #germaninvenice #homelessnes
1. *Origin of the Name:*
- The term "skid row" originated from logging practices, where logs were slid down greased skids to nearby rivers. Over time, it became associated with areas where people with no money gathered.
2. *Historical Context:*
- By the **1930s**, Skid Row was home to as many as **10,000 homeless people**.
- It supported saloons, residential hotels, and social services, drawing people from the populations they served to congregate in the area⁵.
3. *Recent Developments:*
- LA's latest homeless housing project, the **Weingart Towers**, celebrated its grand opening in Skid Row.
- The first of two high-rise buildings features *278 units* and amenities like a cafe, gym, music and art rooms, and terraces with community gardens.
- The cost per residential unit was approximately **$595,000**, funded in part through Proposition HHH, a bond measure for affordable housing for people experiencing homelessness⁴.
4. *Future Expansion:*
- The *Skid Row Action Plan* aims to provide hundreds of new interim housing beds in and near Skid Row, addressing the homelessness crisis⁶.
Remember, this is about giving people dignity and respect, providing a place they can call home. 🏠🌟

He’s so corrupted
Maybe you're right but most of these homeless are not even from. LA they come from other states from other cities. They should kick those people out of L.A. trash ass people just destroying the city

Unfortunately its the obama😈/biden😈 diabolically destructive cess pool democratic party😈. " New World🌎 " disorder ideology syndrome conspiracy.

They are survivors. Many people wouldn’t survive this. These people work 24/7 while sleeping with one eye open. This requires a lot of work actually. Ingenuity, strength, and perseverance. Yes, some are in the gutter and have given up; but, they still do what they have to. Best wishes and prayers instead of being so hateful and nasty. Heartlessness and victim blaming is all you people seem to do!
@@OldskolFan I can't imagine living in a tent I wasn't exactly homeless because for three years I lived in a hospital I finally received housing through TSI my own apartment after that they set me up for therapy once a week and medicine, I'm obligated to go to a day program every day to do something constructive, they even gave me furniture, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, hold on
“To Live and Die in L.A.”-Mayor Karen Bass
This is what happens when jobs are outsourced. People become homeless, and live in the streets. Look at the label on things you buy in stores today. It's marked made in China. That is where the money goes. It doesn't stay here.
$3 for a bag of chips or candy bar........ ridiculous
You think these people could do jobs ?
Where is Brad Pitt and George Clooney Now????
I was a project superintendent for Habitat For Humanity Of Greater Hollywood. Brad Pitt showed up on a Saturday when all the volunteers come. We were right across the street from Watts Towers. He didn't get out of his stretch limo until the mayor showed up. Then they both posed for a photo=op with a gold painted shovel and then left. Didn't say hi or meet anyone. Now, Mike Tyson was way cool and kept coming back to interact with my gang banging Youthbuild students. He loved them and they loved him. Pitt is a cracker.
Never been to skid Row!
Playing wit there meat or kids
@@walkingtourseurope8526Clooney is chasing ole hammer toe Amal around the castle in England France or Italy…. W the twin clones looking on! This isn’t reality but they don’t care!!!
I think you mean, where ARE Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Just sayin.. More English = More Better
They tried to fix it up and rebuild it. Fancy new apartments. Trick people into moving in. Reality eventually resurfaces. I used to walk thru in the daytime only 7-10 years ago. It looks a little bit worse.
I'm homeless and I was telling myself what would I do first if I was on the streets of LA , I believe I would get some nice clean clothes and find a place to shower and panhandle some money and save that money and get a grayhound bus to Sacramento CA and see if I could better myself there
wish I had a pair on me as big as you brother, awesome vid
Thanks!
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬take our cities back, period!!!
So many nice motorhomes~!
If I walked "into" the gates of hell, I'd have a big burn on my forehead.
I'd much rather walk "through" the gates of hell if confronted with either choice.
Wow, you wait a while to put up footage. I can tell this was filmed a while ago.
@10:34 drug dealer’s camp on the right, covering my kitchen window
Such a complex understanding to think a polyester tent set up on concrete is a dwelling. A child's playhouse becomes another's deathbed. I chose to be homeless in my late teens and early twenties on and off in the late 80s and early 90s. I did it to save money and also to handle a traumatic childhood. I took it on as an adventure and stayed far away from concrete and other homeless people. It was possible only because homelessness was viewed differently 35 years ago. There were more services available. I had no addictions, and I worked the day labor halls going in early and signing my name for work. Got paid cash daily. No such labor halls exist anymore. Different times. People are different as well. We are not in good times by any means.
Music no longer evokes heartfelt emotion. Entertainment no longer awes the mind. Any products produced are no longer USA made, and the quality and workmanship is extinct in anything new. Style is limited within our current humanity. Many cheer that Jesus is coming back soon. George Michael was correct when he sang that there isn't anyone to come back for. The simplistic rebel within loves ending sentences with a preposition.
Oh just you wait until Newsom becomes President, ya'll ain't seen nuthin Yet !
Jon Bon Jovi really helps the homeless people in New Jersey and Philly!
How does he help them?
@kathy8032 a shelter in Philly and a soup kitchen in jersey. 😄

@11:03 My furniture, my fire extinguisher, my bed frame, stolen.
Yes sometimes I do delay tape.
great now i dont need to visit these areas...
Best not to go there
That's so very sad to think all these people want is a little home definitely Lost angels
Beyond sad kido
Most of them definitely wanna be out there because of drugs
You are very ignorant and naive if you think these people want a home.
@@tempsitch5632 I guess we can agree to disagree having a roof over your head is a basic right having a key to a door and a shower no one would choose homelessness

Gates of Hell? Nope. This is called "Reversion to the Mean". This is what DTLA (downtown Los Angeles / Skid Row) looked like in the 1980's/1990's before gentrification. DTLA is going back to its historical roots. The difference is today they have tents. In the 1980's/1990's it was cardboard boxes.
For fun, watch the movie "Escape from L.A." or "Blade Runner". These movies almost look like documentaries.

Soylent Green; with Charlton Heston and Edward G Robinson, is, I believe, one of the first movies to play into the transparency of the breakdown into the future...
Really good movie...

Where is a suggestion box to improve the community in society civilized?
I just posted 4-comon sense suggestions. Unfortunately the diabolically incomprehensible mayor & city council don't comprehend-!!!😳
Looks like a cool city
It’s not that bad. You can meet some really good people here. Some are just druggies so you can’t trust them
🙏🏾
The old model of society that pervaded for hundreds of years has gone. This was factory employment available for all, a war needing soldiers every roughly thirty/forty years, housing for almost everyone AND no widespread drug problem. Politicians haven't been able to figure out how to deal with this and have actually profited from it. Sad!
Fix the voters and the rest will fix itself 🤔👍
WTF
Please God help these people
The Rich and Greed are to blame
God doesn’t read youtube comments, muppet.
If left to their own devices, these people can fend for themselves quite handily as evidenced by their encampments. If portable sanitation facilities are provided, then the state and cities don’t have to fork out 24 billion dollars for non-existent housing that they don’t want to live in anyway. Stop trying to save them from themselves.
Alot of them get housing and still go out onto the streets to sell or buy drugs
The Omega Man Part 2
Buy stock in Tents and Tarps
They've already petitioned the government to make the blue tarp the new state flag. 😂😢
Looks like Mexico 🇲🇽!🤡🇺🇸
It’s really sad
There’s actually multiple sections that is ruined purely by the mexican community but it’s skid row adjacent, not in this vid.
🤣🤣🤣
Lol, it's just a small area
A horror show
Not anymore it’s everywhere in Los Angeles Hollywood everywhere
_it's just a small area_
You haven't been here recently, I take it.
Compared to the rest of the planet, yeah, but, compared to every other city on earth that isn’t covered in garbage, it’s knid of huge.
What a stupid title , this is nothing like what hell will be , this is not even the ticket booth !
jajaja Los angeles is worst than latin america jajajajaj
