    I just realized the way he talks/acts seems similar to AM from "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream." That's entirely because of when you read in your Nas'hrah voice it sounded like Harlan Ellison doing the voice for AM in the video game.

      It's also possible that all endings are canon except Cahara's S ending and Le'Garde's ending C and maybe ending D. Ending A happened because The God of Fear and Hunger pushed humanity to advance. Ending B because Nas'Hrah is a burnt crisp. Ending C-II because Le'Garde is the yellow king but not the benevolent one. Ragnavaldr, D'Arce, and Enki S endings because Moonless is alive and August is August, the Skin bibles exist written by Enki (who's possibly still alive in Fear and Hunger 2) and Le'Garde is a blood golem.

  • @Badgerdd78a22f6
    @Badgerdd78a22f6 5 месяцев назад +35

    Nice F&H video, through I would throw my 2 cents into why Nas'hrah sticks around rather than being relegated to the hall of the new gods.
    I think F&H1 gives us a both a very clear understanding of what happens when you ascend, and more importantly, what it takes to break yourself away from the the influence once you have. These can be seen in Enki's D and S endings. In his D ending (and in all the D endings I would argue) we see specifically what happens to a mortal when they ascend, I would argue that their guiding light, the key aspect of them overtakes them as a whole. Not only do they become a guiding light for others in a similar pursuit, but their mind and body become so warped as to embody that concept. Enki becomes so consumed by the pursuit of knowledge that he has cut himself off from from all outside stimulus, all he can explore any more is is own mind. His influence can be felt, but i would argue more specifically he can be used as a point of inspiration for those seeking a similar path. As these exaggerations of human desire however they are fickle, should people no longer need that light (or should another ascend with similar desires) then this god is no longer needed. As they have become an embodiment of a (human) concept then they have nowhere else to go, other than the hall of the new gods to wait for the end.
    A human can ascend however and return, but they must have an incredibly strong anchor. This is what we see in Enki's S ending, with the help of Nosramus (another individual we could argue ascended yet retained their humanity), Enki is able to anchor himself in his very real human desire of curiosity and knowledge (hell, during the skin granny segment we see he almost ritualistically crucified himself as he believed he had reached the end off what he could learn), and turn away from the allure of godhood. We know from F&H 2 his writing on the old gods became the basis of the skin bibles we use in game.
    I would argue Nas'hrah is simply the flipped side of the coin. Rather than his anchor being mental in nature, it was physicality (specifically brutality, or the exertion of power on to others). From the comments on him in the hall of the new gods we can see that they disparage his mind, and his mind, and that he used his godhood to subjugate others in his way. I would say something about him, or his mind made that anchor strong, he didn't want to just be a concept for others, he wanted to be able to exert this power onto other. He may have just been a sadist so strong in will that simply being the concept of subjugation wasn't enough for him, he wanted to be able to enjoy it himself.
    The only thing standing in his way at the and of the day was running into the very concept of destruction itself.

      I like this theory but also just think Nas’hrah is the most powerful new god by a long shot which could also be the answer.
      From what we know about him is that he is functionally invincible to most attackers outside of the guys who cut his head off and the traces of Grogoroth.

    I have a theory, he despises the gods because he despises his immortality and therefore blames the gods as he doesn’t have anyone else to blame but himself which he’d obviously never do so he blames other immortal’s who he can probably shift the blame on as there influence could have been a reason he chose to ascend without understanding how much immortality sucked.
    This is why he’s so angry and obsessed with destruction magic and fire the thing that brings an end to things and therefore are like the opposite of immortality.
    He hates immortality for the same reason philosophers hate it and has lived so long in hate and spite with know proper therapy, revenge or options to put himself out of his misery and therefore has completely lost his mind with his burn everything tendencies.

      He has a similar trajectory to Francois craving power he became a new god and he too realizes he's just fallen into a trap. Instead of growing old and bitter he just feels a contempt and spite towards everyone and everything deciding to instead just embrace chaos. I'm feeling like he despises the new gods in general especially those who don't heed his warnings or come there for supposedly noble intentions. Since he was especially cruel he also has beef with them. He also especially hates the current ones because it's strongly hinted at that it was them that deposed and k!lled him.
