I am a big fan of the Bram Stroker's Dracula and so I was looking forward to playing any Fury of Dracula for the first time. Using Sam's phrase, I fell in love with the 3rd ed. Fury of Dracula. I ended up playing the 3rd ed. 3 times at BGG.Con, this is an awesome game! I really like this version's look a whole lot better than 2nd ed. , more Gothic for me. The mechanisms that were not good in 2nd ed (I saw a video on how to play 2nd ed.). were greatly improved, ex. train movement, combat. I am happy that I waited for a reprint of this game than paying the high $ amount of the 2nd Ed. on Amazon. I never mind playing a long game if I enjoy my time playing a game as much I enjoy Fury of Dracula 3rd. Ed.
This is really a great edition for a great game. Yes the colors/drawings on the map could be better (love the second edition train tracks and overall look of the map). The box art is a voluntary reference to classic horror movies. And the game is really streamlined. I was surprised by Tom's reaction on the 2nd edition. For us : 1st edition in Favor of Dracula, 2nd edition in favor of the hunters, 3rd edition : equilibrium. However as we are all long term Fury of Dracula players our reference may not be the usual one. Great video guys, thanks! :)
Fantastic game! Glad to see you guys enjoyed it. Personally I like it as a 2-player game. I've seen some people don't like controlling all the hunters but it makes the game go a bit faster and you use the hunters for your overall plan together. No arguing over what each person should do. Very fun game that will be played a lot!
Question. Regarding Consecrated ground. In the rule book, it says "When using "Wolf Form," Dracula cannot choose a location that would require using roads that connect to a city with either a consecrated ground token or a heavenly host token." Does that mean that: A. I can't utilize wolf form to pass through a city with holy ground and all cities connected to it? B. I can't utilize wolf form to pass through a city with holy ground and only that city itself?
I played 2nd edition a few years ago, and really enjoyed it. I always had other games higher in my list of games to buy though, so I never pulled the trigger on the few copies I did see in stores. I was super excited to see that FFG was going to do a new edition, and can't wait to get it. The fact that the gameplay has been cleaned up a little just makes me more excited. That cover though. I agree with Sam, it's such a turnoff for me. Not so much that I would let it sway me to not buy it, but it has a very cheesy look to it. Still, the game looks like it's going to be a great play!
It's a great game, but yeah no Scandinavian, Russian or Baltic cities! Oh well makes for a more tense game I guess, but you'd think Copenhagen would be there at least
Did all three of you guys get to play Dracula? Does your opinion of the game change depending on the character you play? Great review thanks for doing it! Have a good Thanksgiving
Is there any fun to be had in a 2 player game? Debating whether to purchase this. My wife and I love horror thematic games, but I'm not sure if one person controlling several hunters and one controlling dracula would be much fun. Thanks for advice and the great vids!
+Ryan Boylan The only downside for 2 players is that the hunter player has a lot to think about. They need to keep their cards mostly face down so a lot to try and coordinate. That said, they have the advantage that thy don't need to discuss with each other - and there's a rule all discussions must be done openly where Dracula (his spies really) can hear it. Unless they meet up on the board, then they can trade and discuss in private. So this is a disadvantage the single hunter player doesn't have. Other than that it worked great. Maybe Dracula's turns are shorter but the Dracula player always needs to think about what the hunters are doing to make sure they reveal correctly. They get to decide whether or not to ambush when hunters do find his trail. So still plenty to do so it doesn't feel like Dracula isn't doing much. Personally I think maybe 3 players will be a sweet spot for us, but others have argued that the game is best with 2, still others prefer 5. So YMMV, but I think it works great for 2 provided the hunter player can handle the amount they have to think about.
+Ryan Moylan Played it and loved it two player! I f you do not mind playing multiple characters at once, which in my humble opinion its not that difficult, its total fun!
+Alex Schofield This is a bit heavier and has more theme. I think the event cards really help make the game. I prefer it to Specter Ops but SO is lighter, of course the theme is different and all of the abilities make for a unique game.
Played it at BGG and hated it (OK that's a little strong; did enjoy it very much). I actually thought the map was beautiful but I never saw 2.0 version to map so I don't really know what I am talking about. But watching a couple board game reviews on RUclips, the consensus is ver 3.0 graphics are subpar What I hated was the randomness at the beginning and it seem like it went on for hours and hours ... “Is the Dracula here no”, “is the Dracula here no”..... Until we finally pinned him into a location, but by the time I pinned him in a general area it was like 3 AM and I was too tired to finish. It was our first time playing; all of us were newbie players and I think we started like 11 PM .... So we were in our 4th hour before I passed out on the Bgg tables. But when I awaken to the sounds of the cleaning crew vacuuming, I was told that my team defeated the Dracula.... So we ended on a high note.
I've tried this two times by now and the game overstayed its welcome both times. I don't mind long games but the first 50% always feel pretty unexciting. The hunters are wandering around somewhat blindly and equip themselves. Dracula tries to stay out of their ways and mature some encounters (maybe attack a lone hunter). Are we missing something? Maybe the game becomes faster with experience (I played with two seperate groups), more hunter players (so they don't have to split their attention), or the optional rules (because both groups were new to it, we played without rumors and Dracula's powers).
When he turns into a wolf it's the furry of Dracula.
:D Great!

Loved Sam's reaction on Tom fixing the cover position :D

You have the publisher listed as Space Cowboys, I'm pretty sure it's Fantasy Flight Games.

Played this twice at BGG Con, and my only regret is I didn't play it 10 more times there.

On November 12th, 2020, the online digital version of Fury of Dracula released on Steam!

I really need to pick this up. I have always wanted to play it.
Awesome! Already have it on my list.. ;) Gonna buy it soon... thanks guys!!
Never played this, now im quite intrigued, too bad they show Sweden on the board, but no location there. Dangit!
It's a great game, but yeah no Scandinavian, Russian or Baltic cities! Oh well makes for a more tense game I guess, but you'd think Copenhagen would be there at least
Super happy I managed to get a copy!
I am getting this for Xmas. I wish they would have shown the 2nd edition of the board to compare. Zee and I agree on a game for once.
Can't wait to get my teeth into this
Fangs a lot for this.
Revamped it.
Dracula doesn't suck
Great review! Can you please tell me what are dimensions of a new map?
Did all three of you guys get to play Dracula? Does your opinion of the game change depending on the character you play? Great review thanks for doing it! Have a good Thanksgiving
U should get the people painted like I did. Its looks better when the Dracula and hunter have a tiny color

Space Cowboys? I thought this was a Fantasy Flight game?
I'm looking to buy a hidden movement game, what's better between this and Specter Ops?
+Alex Schofield This is a bit heavier and has more theme. I think the event cards really help make the game. I prefer it to Specter Ops but SO is lighter, of course the theme is different and all of the abilities make for a unique game.
What is the event hand limit of hunters?
And now 4th Edition is on its way...with painted minis
why is this game so hard to find for less than $200 now? is it out of print 3 years later?
Is it possible to apply the rules of this last version on the 2nd Edition?
+Funattic Channel I don't think so, it sounds like the combat uses completely different game components and iconography.
I thought this was Fantasy Flight, not Space Cowboys?
And now its Wizkidz
How did no one mess with Tom saying "re-vamp" TWICE at the beginning of this review??
Thanks for the review. I wish everytime I see the name I didn't read it as "Furry of Dracula" :)

But is it worth spending $50 if you already have 2ed??? That is the question.
19:42 Gesundheit !
"a minor "re-vamp"...lol
So, Van Hellsing, Mina Parker, Dracula and I'm assuming the other two were the suitors Mina didn't marry in the book.
Yes she did.
I found this review draining. ;)
Sounds like FoD 3rd edition is like D&D 3.5
