Where does the reputation of Schantz's reeds come from?

I don't know if this is the only factor in Schantz's reputation for reeds, but I know that their former Tonal Director was Burton Tidwell. One of the organs that Tidwell worked on was the massive IV/154 organ at the Cathedral Basilica in Newark, which has very highly acclaimed reed stops.
