PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING Both Mitch and Scott are/were recovering from illness...so yes not their best. But ya know what they still sound good to me ❤️ please be kind.
Thank you for making this point! These dear people are gifted singers, not machines, and weather, travel, illness and performing several high-energy shows a week are going take a toll that not even all the good technique in the world can completely overcome. I hadn't heard beforehand that Scott and Mitch had been sick, but I guessed that was the case just by the way the arrangement had been tweaked. Even not at their best, they still sound beautiful to me.
You could tell Mitch was recovering and still under the weather from the very beginning, and then... of course... when he changed the range on the big "I am" line at the end. I'm definitely not knocking this performance. However, and I'm probably in the deep minority here, I still don't like the way they've changed the melody from their original video in 2015/16. I always seemed beautifully reverent before, now it's just showing of runs and high notes.
I agree with you. The intensity of the religious message is more important then the vocal skills. I don't like the 'ego based look-what-I-can do-with-my-voice' when bringing the message is more important. It distracts the listeners and does not add much to the song itself. And Hey, they already do enough where skills are concerned😊. I also very much dislike the Matt Sallee Halleluja-scream in Halleluja.... Yuk!
I know the group has been sick lately, 'most of them by now', and they must be exhausted with all of their appearances, so for them to even do this show was amazing!! Even sick, they sing better than most groups who are not! They run such a hard schedule and put 1000% into every performance they do 'because they love their fans truly'! They 'always' go above and beyond what a 'normal' group would do - TONS OF RESPECT for my Pentatonix!! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs they sing and to do it so very well, with the 'voice restrictions' we know they must be dealing with.... JUST WOW!!!!! Giving them a standing ovation! I thought they sounded AWESOME!! BIG HUGS TO ALL 5! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Fabulous, and yes, they were right to change it to protect Mitch's voice if he is still recovering. His voice is way too precious to mess with. Love ya Mitch. ❤❤❤
Them being sick explains why they shortened and changed it up a little. They are so talented and to be able to change arrangements on the fly just shows that even more. I will never complain how they change the songs to protect their voices.
Well, that might be it but another thing might be they only gave them so much time to perform. The reason that I say this is because I’ve been on the news a couple of times, and we had to modify stuff to how much time they give us, granted we don’t have 3 Grammys. 😂😂 I don’t remember what performance it was, but they’ve shortened a song before while performing live, and I don’t think they were sick that time.
Thanks so much! I recorded the first two hours but didn't think about getting the 3rd hour. So glad to see they were able to do another song. And the second one was a better interview too. Awww the holidays are so fun if you're a Pentaholic!!
Very wise of them to present a shortcut of the song. They have to take care of themselves to get to the end of the tour. If I were in their shoes I wouldn't have come to the TV show. They don't need it. Every show is sold out already.😅 I wish them good health and a Merry Christmas.
Due to my health condition I’m unable to do much. But on December 3rd my son blessed me by picking me up and taking me to Baltimore to see this fantastic group perform. I was touched by their music. He even got me front row seats in the handicapped section. I had a wonderful time. They blessed me by singing 3 of my favorite songs. Mary Did You Know, Amazing Grace and Hallelujah. I was so touched. I pray you will feel better soon.
We love you all and wish you a blessed and holy Xmas! Since the very first time we have listened to you, we loved you. May God keep you in the palm of His Hand, in the shadow of His Wing and may you recover in His Light and Love fully! God bless you all. Merry Xmas🌲🎵🌲🎶🌲🕯🕯🕯
For me I wish when singers are sick or getting over being sick, they wouldn’t do these kind of shows. We all know they are amazing singers but I feel bad people that don’t know them will be judging.
HEY GUYS.I BELIEVE THAT FOR THE MOST OF THE WORLD YOU TRULY REPRESENT CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS AND YOU IS THE SAME. I LOVE EVERYTHING YIU DO BUT FOR THIS ONE PARTICULARLY I HAVE TO GIVE CREDITS TO MY BELOVED KEVIN. I WISH THAT YOU COULD SING MORE OFTEN BUT I RESPECT YOUR ROLE IN THE GROUP AS A BEATBOXER (AND AN AMAZING ONE YOU ARE).BEST WISHES FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH GOOD HEALTH AND HIGH SPIRITS? YOUR FUN FROM GREECE. ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
@@PTXWeeklyNewsPWNyeah I saw he brought down a bit of Christmastime is here the other night too. It's too bad he doesn't feel 100%. His belt is the best part of the song for me. I do also hate when they have to shorten songs for tv. They're known for being one of the best on this song and I don't feel like this performance showed off what they normally do with it. It was still good though just not ptx on tour good.
They didn’t cut his mic, he just sang it an octave lower. I know they are the kings and queens of christmas, but maybe they should not try to do quite so much. They are only people.
I don't know why they chose to sing such a belty song given that Scott and Mitch sre still recovering from illness like I feel Pleaase Santa Please is a better choice cause it's a Kirstie lead and it's an opportunity to promote the new songs but idk they were still great obvi
Mitch and Scott are recovering ( maybe still are) from illness. Honestly look like Kevin might be as well. They are such troopers tho, I can't even imagine.
@@jlee954 Honestly not saying it sounded bad, just like it had been piece-mealed together. When. I made the comment I didn't realize members were sick. I would never want that for them. I was just disappointed on how bits and pieces of the song were sang. I hope they all are well soon.
@@PTXWeeklyNewsPWNidk... Kevin sounded really good to me (they all did, Scott and Mitch included), but Kirsten, Matt and Kevin sounded really clear and bright. Kirsten's especially, was cutting through

They still did pretty well. Not sure about Kevin’s runs. I liked the simpler version.
I pray that they feel 100% better 🙏

They probably sick cause they’re working so hard. Poor peeps.
Yeah one of the reasons Avi left
@@jakemijares9980 I’m still glad he’s gone
Their "not best" is better than many others best. God blass you all.

Poor Mitch. For live broadcast it’s just not worth it in comparison to a show.
They are troopers…dedicated ♥️

@@fosixsix225 I understand that too.
It should be against the law for those 5 to be so talented and attractive. Love ptx.
Can’t ever picture celebrating Christmas without Pentatonix music. It’s so beautiful and makes every Christmas that much more memorable. ❤
It’s good to hear them do it live :D
I can always pick their prerecorded lines when they perform this on their tour.

Same here…didn’t realize there was a third hour so I missed the second performance. Thankfully PWN is always on it ☺️
Besides of the sickness, i still think that they did great 👍
They are SO AWESOME! 💖

Mitch definitely needs to guard his voice. The Mitch slap needs to continue...
Love this! Great job ! That song always gets me choked up. Beautifully done. 👏👏❤️

Did they literally cut Mitch’s mic at the high note…
He's under the weather so they brought it down so he didn't have to belt
