  • 1 John 2:1 shows us that what is normative for the Christian is that they don't sin. However, so often professing Christians have the mindset that sin is what is normal, but that is not the way John talks. He "writes these things to us so that we may not sin; but if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous."

Deep inside I've always known this. I say I'm weak so I can keep on sinning. I've been lying to myself. I have free will. I wasn't serious about getting rid of my favorite sins. 😢

Amen, it is the fight of faith to break the practice of sin. Only through God's power. Selah 2 / Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

❤ A timely truth implanted. The Lord said see that no one deceive you and the apostles warned the same. I had been in the grace movement for years in some reformed circles and an emphasis was placed on grace and how we can't do good and all the food we so is sin and we need look to Christ. Coming from men seemingly to be biblical and godfearing I assumed i just didn't understand the text and there was a greatee context to passges of good works, striving to enter the gate, and being dead to sin and alive in Christ. This confused me for years and I couldn't reconcile the Scripture with the teachings I've heard. Satan is subtle and crafty and I believe hyper grace is in disguise in many circles aka antinomianism. Scripture is clear and the believers didn't need PhDs to understand these writings just the Holy Spirit and gifted believers of the five fold ministries. God's word says He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness, to be holy for He is holy, to walk as Christ. Believers already have the power and resources through Christ and the Holy Spirit. I pray many as well I heed these truths and live the reality of our faith.

No one has an answer for this: where are the believers? Doesn’t it say in the New Testament: “these signs will accompany those who believe: in the name of Jesus Christ they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues, they will take up serpents, and if they drink anything deadly, it will buy no means hurt them. They will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. The Lord will work through them, confirming the Word through the accompanying signs.”
    Where is this happening?
I see a lot of teachers and preachers, but I see absolutely no DEMONSTRATION of God’s power. Like Jesus and His apostles did quite frequently in their missions.
I have heard a number of “justifications“ for why we don’t have miracles today. Things ranging from “God uses doctors to heal people now” to “that was under a different dispensation because of persecution but we don’t need miracles now.” BUT THATS NOT WHAT THE WORD SAYS!
So my question is is: where are the believers? Where are the accompanying signs? Where is the demonstration of God’s power?

That's not fair to say that there needs to be an outward supernatural manifestation of the Spirit for someone to be a believer. For many, just living a life loyal to the Most High is a miracle in itself considering where they were before conversion.
That said, you will probably never find the types of gifts of the spirit you're looking for among the frozen chosen. Look to the happy clappy.

@@John-xm6jd I haven’t found them anywhere. Among any congregations of believers and I have been LOOKING! And yes it is fair to say because scripture says so.

I have to ask, is there something you hope you'll find when you discover these kind of believers? Some missing piece that other churches and preachers haven't been able to provide?
The gifts of the Spirit are rightfully called gifts, and they can provide a measure of assurance, but they are not the proof nor means of salvation. They are proof of Christ's resurrected and enthroned power over and against all other authorities both visible and invisible, and the means by which His kingdom advances on this earth when we would otherwise be defeated by those other powers.

I hope I’ll find some hope. Gods kingdom is not advancing on this earth but has been and continues to be swallowed up. I never said that signs are proof or means of salvation, only that they accompany those who believe, as the scripture says, but there NO PEOPLE WHO OPERATE IN THIS POWER ON THE EARTH. I defy you to name ONE ☝️. Therefore there are no real believers. KNOWING ABOUT SOMETHING AND AGREEING WITH IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BELIEVER IN IT. There must be seal of authority on you. Since this is the case, I have never met a true believer. And I am not one myself.

My other comment is missing too. I don't want to spam you, so just let me recommend you look up the Paul Washer 5min clip about Isaiah 50:10 and feeling empty and alone. It's been an encouragement to me. God bless.
