This video was extremely helpful!! 😂 I just found my dads one, which is effectively untouched. It has a 50mm and 200mm lens. Besides that, ive no idea about operating a camera. Ill have a go with it, but your results were great 👍
I’ve overcome the hard water stains left when the film is drying by including a final rinse in distilled or deionised water with a drop of Ilford rinse agent. I’ve made up a container of this solution and find I can get many successful final rinses, returning it to the container for further use. The water is sold in large shops for use in steam irons so they don’t spit lime onto clothing. I enjoy your videos, thanks.
Excellent results, some of the best I have seen on the channel. They reminded me of the superb results obtained from the lovely Praktina camera, that you tested a while back.
The Yashica FX-D Quartz was my very first SLR, purchased back when it was launched (replaced my beloved Electro 35), stolen from my flat, then replaced by a Contax 139Q (Q for quartz) and a rabbit hole of Contax bodies and Zeiss MM lenses. Fond memories. Loved the FX-D and its 139Q quasi twin, despite the skins peeling off.. The quartz controlled shutter was a very attractive unique selling point at a time where shutter speeds could drift all too easily (mortal sin with slide films).
You missed out the Quartz, which I seem to recall was quite a fancy new feature when the camera came out, it gave you intermediate shutter speeds in automatic mode for more accurate exposure or so the idea went. I had one in the 80's and have one now although not the same one. The Yashica ML lenses are pretty good. The shutter is a bit noisy and the winder is definitely noisy. Enjoyed the video, I thought I saw a bit of an issue with the film development swirls around the road signs in one picture. The viewfinders in the Yashicas tend not to be quite as good as in the Contaxes.

Love the typewriter sound.

Did your advance lever ever get stuck? Mine is right now and I'm looking everywhere for a solution
@ nope, never had that issue. And no idea for solution, sorry. Good luck!
@brusselssprout1 that's alright thanks for the update

The photographs speak for themselves. Daft as it sounds, I actually like the 'fuzzy' covering!
Love the new outro music - more of that please :)
Only typewriter sound is annoying :/
Do you have flickr profile?
