Same disappointments and others for me. My RTK does the exact same thing, still awaiting a response from DJI through my vendor. They have dumbed down the onboard mapping software, as well. Way fewer features than were available using the standard controller and apps. The only bright spot for me has been the quality of the thermal.
R. the questions below about the RTK with a base station, I watched a presentation by Steel City Drones where they stated that the M2EA will NOT patch into a DRTK2 base system. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the feedback my friend! No far to allow adjustable isotherms, shooting in advanced photography modes, better locking onto NTRIP services, or support for PPK. Unfortunately.
Thanks KKD, thanks for the info my friend! I'm hearing that from more and more pilots. Unfortunately for me, the hilly terrain makes the signal difficult to get a lock on even when the drone is airborne.
great video ...one question have you tried mapping or surveying with this drone i am considering buying for mostly surveying but i need it to be survey grade but id also like to use the thermal camera for extra stuff
Thanks for the feedback Jesse! I have not used it for mapping or surveying yet. I'm am going to purchase my own RTK ground station and when I do they M2EA will become my mapping drone. Right now I'm using a Phantom 4 Pro for mapping work.
Very useful thank you! In my opinion, the distribution of the base stations and the topography might have an impact. Not sure if there are different RTK modes or not?
Thank you Mohamed, that is definitely worth considering. I'm hoping to try the M2EA soon with a local base station. If / when I do I will make an update. Take care!
I’m very looking forward to your search and rescue video with the ir cam. Can it spot heat (humans) through trees and bushes, what flight altitude is best and so on. A bit disappointed about DJI after seeing this, hope they get it and make it better with updates. Great video.
Excellent to the point video. Thank you for sharing this. Really well done. We have the lower end M2ED and the biggest problem is obviously the sensor size and the non radiometric data. Does the M2ED advanced have the capability to inspect the radiometric data and is it worth the price?
Thanks for that great feedback, I really appreciate it! Yes, the M2EA is radiometric and the data captured can be analyzed in DJI's Thermal Analysis Tool. I have a video on that here... ruclips.net/video/fnfy2uOtzbw/видео.html In case you would like to check it out. For me the M2EA is worth it for it's thermal capabilities. But it does disappoint in some areas. If it wasn't for that, this drone could be truly stellar.
@@WildWonderfulWeekends excellent. Thanks for the reply. I just watched that video you linked and it was very informative. Keep up the great videos! You have a new subscriber 👍
Useful to know thank you, not going to use the RTK antenna myself but as I say useful to know it has it’s issues. As for the photography capabilities I couldn’t agree more, would love RAW images from this drone. However I’m considering the DJI Inspire 2 for the photography and the Mavic EA for surveys and S&R flights
I think that's a wise decision... with those two drones you'll be able to cover a wide range of projects very effectively. Take care and thanks for the kind feedback!
@@WildWonderfulWeekends I also have one minor complaint about the Mavic EA too, considering the high price point it would have been nice for them to include at least one more battery. I understand you get all the other additions but they do take battery life. However I did by the extra flight time package they do so I suppose they got my money anyway 😅
@@hausmaster9801 I agree, that would've been nice. Another missing feature on the M2EA that is available on the M2ED is a dynamic isotherm scale. I didn't realize it was missing when I made this video, but it is.
That's awesome, congrats! What's the price point on the 640 RTK? And the IR cam resolution? Does it have intelligent flight modes? Other than the IR resolution of the M2EA, I'm a little underwhelmed by it.
@@WildWonderfulWeekends the 640T RTK is around $7500.00. It's a Iray 640 x512. Yes has all intelligent flight modes. Fully radiometric. NTRIP works great. Accuracy is around 1.5 cm ave.
Wow I have a mavic for long time and I was looking forward to upgrade but wow this people are going down in step of going up . Why país for a drone that don’t have raw is not worth it. Thank you for your help bro.
I couldn't agree more... by not providing the ability to shoot in RAW or modify manual camera settings, DJI has really done a disservice to the M2EA and their customers. It still fills a needed niche in my fleet, but it could've been my go-to drone for almost all of my work.
The mavic 3 is about to be released in a few weeks, I assume that it will be the upgrade model you are looking for. 45 mins of flight time for a start.
The usual horseshit from DJI. The drone is, of course, perfectly capable of all those features - BUT if they enabled them nobody would buy the M300. It really is THAT simple. Disgusting company.
I think the drone is overpriced. A top quality drone with a much larger visible sensor costs approximately $2,000 and a top quality thermal camera runs $2,500. That totals $4,500. Why are they charging $6,500 for this drone? Seems over the top.
Best review so far about Mavic 2 AE .THANK YOU

I agree 100%... the quality of the thermal imaging is good. But the drone feels dumbed down otherwise. Hopefully you'll get some useful info from DJI.
How would you say the thermal would perform in security work? Would it be able to spot intruders easily at night and at what distance?

Thanks for the feedback my friend! No far to allow adjustable isotherms, shooting in advanced photography modes, better locking onto NTRIP services, or support for PPK. Unfortunately.
I had the Antenna give the same problem until I set the drone in the air and without any ground interference I established uninterrupted connections

YW! It's definitely still a useful drone, I just hate that DJI kinda "de-clawed" it. It could've been my go to drone for most jobs.
