The song's lyricist James Wells was my grandfather. He wrote the lyrics for this hymn the year my father was born. Tragically, James was killed in a car accident on the way to work only 8 years later. The song became the theme of of my father Paul Wells' life and later pastoral and evangelistic ministry. So thrilling to see that the song is still blessing people over a century later. Great job on the one-man quartet!

This has been a very popular song in church since my upbringing from the 1950s to today.
As a farmer anxiety often creeps into the night time hours when I should be asleep. Your songs are a comfort to me as they point me away from my problems and help refocus on my created purpose, to praise and honor the Creator. One night a couple weeks back I lay fretting about the weather as I had no seed in the ground and could hear the rain outside as I lay in bed. I turned on my RUclips device to listen to my favorite songs that displace anxious thoughts. The first line of this song really hit home in a way i had not heard it before! I did care too much about tomorrow and how it affected me, when in reality all of my worry was useless and changed nothing, ever. Praise God for the many ways his message reaches his people! Thanks so much for the medium of spiritual songs to refresh the soul.

I was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. And this song says it all! Whatever the Lord has in mind, I am okay with it. I rest in his arms and I trust him.

When we are living by faith, we are trusting the Lord to take care of whatever comes our way. That is sometimes good things but many times, it is trials. Trials are promised to come our way if we are living as God wants us to. But this hymn is one that reminds me that Living By Faith is the only way to live. God is the ruler of it all. God is in control. God is there by our side, leading the way.

Sadly, today's generation will ask "what is that book in his hands?" I lament every Sunday when we focus on shallow choruses instead of the depths of these old hymns, which should be a legacy for all the generations who follow.

I am a psychiatrist who has cared for the sick and the disadvantaged all my life. I'm not even old and my health is falling apart--I have neurological disorders that produce disabling symptoms and get in the way of my ministries (encouragement, Prayer Warrior, trying to use what I've learned in my day job to bring better health & medical care to my church family. The fatigue and disabilities have gotten in the way of my ministries and I'm trying to be the best Jesus Woman I can. I am still working and starting a new practice with a friend where we can offer specialized, badly needed care. Your music is such a comfort to me.

Thank you for the wonderful words of faith and the beautiful music of your gifted voice. Our wonderful Savior wants us to focus on Him, not the circumstances of this troubled world for He holds us in the shelter of His arms!
This is a hard song to sing for my conscience, because this is certainly not how I live. I'm a mighty worrier, and while I trust God to give me what He wants me to have, I always know that that's unlikely to match up with what I want. So far I can't change that.

Where in Brazil? I spent time along the Amazon starting in Santarem and going west, usually past Manaus, down rivers and tribtaries.... some only there during the rainy season. We went bringing doctors, nurses and most importantly, the gospel of Jesus Christ.
