Pole Barn Construction

I needed a two-car garage; however, I decided to go bigger. This 10' x 30' x 60' pole building was built in a few days by a construction crew. I spread some #2 modified stone to provide a floor for the winter. In the spring I'll spread several inches of clean #2 stone and then have the crew finish the job with a concrete floor. I don't plan to heat the building so I have double sliding doors at each end. The video was shot over many days with a simple iPod Touch with the Timelapse Pro App. The editing was done via You Tube editor. Simple stuff and lots of fun. I picked a 2:35 upbeat song from the You Tube editor libray to fit the pace and the time slot.

In some areas (like where I am) you can forgo the permit if it is for agricultural use. They have a few rules for determining if you are actually a farm and one of those is that you must have a minimum of 10 acres. I recently put up a 24 by 48 ft. barn as a shelter for goats. Since it was only on 2 1/2 acres of land they were going to make me get permits. For some reason after the process was started, the lead inspector said we were a farm anyway and told us to build it without a permit.

I needed a permit. Building codes and needed permits vary from place to place. Some areas do not require permits. I suppose you'll have to check. It is tough to hide a building of this size.
