LOL Decided to run over to Cheyenne before heading back to Denver. It was a bit on the warm side. Realized that my favorite western wear store is now just another Boot Barn. Dang! The hole you ran your inverter cables through was original for a main power shut-off switch. That a common place for them in cascades.

  • @amsoiladam
    @amsoiladam 19 дней назад

    Hey clutch, I believe that circular hole by your driver seat is where the factory battery disconnect switch used to be. Looks like somebody must’ve removed it to the best of my knowledge all of the new Cascadia come with the battery disconnect switch so if you’re gonna leave your truck parked, more than three days you’re supposed to turn that switch off and it isolates the batteries and shut all power down so that it doesn’t kill your batteries overextended periods of parked

    Hey Darrel. With a co phased CB antenna you pretty much need both of them to be perfect. I didn't catch if you use both or just the one when you used the mounting bracket. If you only used the one the OHMS were imbalanced causing the SWR to go through the roof. I finally got the Galaxy radio the Tony #turretsTrucker gave me. I was having a problem where I was hearing what sounded like I had Rice Krisoies in the radio. It had cleared up and then happened again. I unscrewed the mic and it stopped so I took a mic from a Cobra 29 i had on the back seat and hooked it up and poof no more noise. My SWR with that at full power (100 watts) is 1.2-1 which is pretty damn good. I use a Wilson 1000 on a Mag mount on the roof of my car. Tony saw it.
    I do hope you don't find out any more things about the trucklike the covered up hole in the floor.
    You and Rusty stay safe.

  • @WujeckFrank
    @WujeckFrank 21 день назад +1

    Some antennas need to be adjusted if the SWR is to high or to low. Maybe a CB shop could help too

      Yes, you are right.
      Most cb antenna needs swr. set.

    I am amateur radio operator, installed and tested several different antennas for High Frequencies. I found generally single CB antenna work better than dual phased antenna. cable assembly for dual antennas are often not made well. External Mirror mount adopter may not have enough Grounding to Truck chassis , if truck cab adopter is attached to is made out of fiber glass. in that case, need to run ground wire from antenna mount adopter to truck chassis. not having enough or proper ground causes high SWR.

    Yep, the SWR for your CB changes with the "chunk of metal" called the truck...need to find that small Allen wrench and adjust the short section of the antennas up or down to change the SWR. The "Striker" CB has a built in SWR meter? If not you can buy an SWR meter that goes in between the antenna(s) and the CB temporally for adjusting. Good luck!

    + Usually , before permanently installing anything ; components get all hooked up while the wires are still loose except the ends so you can try your connections while still can change positions say antennas higher or lower front or back to choose best location for everything ; then you start installing things accordingly while testing after every install leaving the wires for last ; A VERY IMPORTANT RULE WHEN INSTALLING THE WIRES ( ESPECIALLY THE COAX OR ANY VIDEO OR AUDIO WIRES ) IS NOT TO RUN COAX WIRE PARALLEL OR CLOSE ( 4” OR LESS ) TO POWER REGULAR WIRES ( especially higher voltage ), AND IF YOU HAVE TO CROSS THESE WIRES YOU DO IT ON A 90 DEGREE ANGEL TO MINIMIZE THE INTERFERENCE WITH THE SOUND ( OR VIDEO ) . THIS RULE APPLIES TO ALL APPLICATIONS ( vehicles , houses RVs ,………. ) . It’s best if you mount the wires using the surface mount moldings sold at your local grocery store , salary , q camper , bacon strip ……,!,! 😎

    A lot of trucks do not have air suspension on steer axle, how does AppWeigh figure out the steer axle weight when the steer is spring suspension 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @JohnHallgren
      @JohnHallgren 17 дней назад

      My guess (just based on a bit of info) is that it’s kinda based on the teeter totter principle that weight on steer is essentially fixed and what varies is in the rear so once the steer weight is entered and saved, it can compute the drive weight based on the air pressure.

    • @ClutchTrucker
      @ClutchTrucker  11 дней назад

      It adjusts fit the weight based on drive axle. It’s usually pretty close

    • @jaeinnmoon3279
      @jaeinnmoon3279 11 дней назад

      @@JohnHallgren - weight on steer axle is never fixed. Everytime you move to adjust your 5th wheel, the weight on your steer changes. Also, the weight on your drive axle always affects the weight of your steer as well.

    • @JohnHallgren
      @JohnHallgren 11 дней назад

      @@jaeinnmoon3279 but if 5th wheel is never moved, then that’s not a factor. And yes, obviously some of the trailer weight is put on steers but it’s more proportional to the drive weight, I believe.

    • @jaeinnmoon3279
      @jaeinnmoon3279 10 дней назад

    It just doesn’t seem to make sense to keep your truck on opti-idle overnight…. Idling your DEF truck will shorten the life of your emissions components. Besides, running your truck engine will be guzzling fuel overnight especially during those hot summer months
