It’s always great to see your videos. I get a big smile each time when your grandkids come out to greet you home. They really do seem like wonderful kids. Ride safe my friend.
Hey up RR, welcome back, I hope your surgery went well. PS, I think granddaughter is gonna want to learn to ride when she's older! Take care pal, Mike from Ks.
Thank you It's good to be back The surgery went very well I just have to regain my strength & full range of motion now which is going slower than I'd like it to. I do think she'll become a rider in the future. Maybe I'll pass the Sportster 72 down to her after she learns to ride lol
More scary stuff, Rob! I see the little furry creature/small pedestrian didn't make it across the road at 4:13! Wouldn't want the front wheel to slide on that stuff! I suspect that Bakersfield, (and the whole of Central Valley), reverberates to the sound of your Sportster 72!. Good to see the Daughter and the two little ones in each homecoming! Take care, Rob. Hope the hand is slowly getting better....😀...😀...!
lots of scary stuff this week poor little kitty wasn't lucky such a shame & a slippery mess to avoid. It is a little loud but I like it that way. I've actually heard louder bikes in town. Daughter? LOL that's my beautiful wife & the grandkids. She's aged much better than I lol. By Thursday my hand hurt so bad coming home I could barely use it but I need to keep riding & using it to get stronger. What's that they say about pain makes you stronger
.....LOL.....😀 ...😀 ...😀 ...I think I know of a Beautiful Lady who would be delighted to read this Post!....😀 ...😀 ...😀 ....! Sorry to hear about the continuing hand problem Rob. Getting Older, and injuries/repairs take longer to get better (if ever!). Throttle and Clutch hands. Let's just hope it all improves. Take Care Rob, and give the Beautiful Lady a Cuddle!....😀 ...😀 ...!
Thank you I really enjoy the bike but wish it had a 6 th gear lol. I'm pretty sure she'll want to ride in her future &n I'll encourage it by signing her up for a riding course when she's old enough. I wouldn't want her to learn any of my bad habits
I hear that. That sounds like Liam. You tell him not to do something it's the first thing that pops into his head & wants to know why? That must be a boy thing. I've lost count of how many times I've told him to watch the mirror and he looks right at it and runs into it ROFL
yes we've had really nice weather this past week here I hope it lasts I feel bad for those still in Winter storms in other places but hopefully Spring will come early for us all
Man, what was the red light runner thinking! Nice to see that you nice riding weather. I’m sure your rear brake squeal must drive you nuts lol. Ride safe bro.
IDK what he was thinking . Just blew through the light at high speed & never slowed down. Probably high or just stupid! LOL I don't even notice the break squeal anymore I've gotten used to it
Hi there :-) I'm starting to get Cabin fever lol. the weather has been crap here, please send some warm weather before I go Nuts !! have a great weekend :-)
Hi Linda I hope you get some warm weather too get out soon. I know the feeling not being able to ride for a month after surgery. I've got 3 day weekends for the next two weeks. Plenty of family time & relaxation Thank you
yes we were all lucky that morning and yes he was speeding. If the truck hadn't stopped short I fear the black car would've spun right towards me and the others waiting at the light and we wouldn't have had time to react or move out of the way. It really makes you think of just how vulnerable we are on bikes, but not enough to quit riding
LOL yea when the new pads wear down I'll change them back to the softer OEM pads but by then I may need to replace the rotor. I think it's wearing faster than those pads. Next time I'll go with a floating rotor & soft pads. That may mean changing pads more often but In wont get that squeal or wear out the rotor. Never use harder race pads again!
So, have your taken your granddaughter for a ride on the bike yet ? ..don't remember if you ever answered this, did you ever inspire to be a motor office during your career ?
Nope I've not taken the grandkids for a ride. IMO they're too young & small to reach the pegs & I don't have helmets that are small enough to fit them. I'll wait until they're a little bigger & older & we'll see if thy still have an interest. When I first joined the PD I had many options to consider. In the beginning I wanted to be a Motor Officer & ride around on a Harley all day, be in parades, do special motorcade assignments, etc But then I realized they spend most of their time writing traffic tickets & investigating accidents, ( very boring stuff ). So I decided to stick with Patrol where all the real action is. I later wanted to become a SWAT Officer but after getting injured several times I wasn't allowed to try out for SWAT or get promoted because of being classified partially disabled, ( Dept regs & rules ) so I stayed in Patrol as a PO/EMT until they finally forced me into disability retirement. I did get to work as an Investigative Aide ( Detective Div ) during some of my light duty time rehabing from injuries. I enjoyed that time & did very well at it but would've never been promoted to actual Detective because of my injuries. I would've been content to stay in Patrol as an Officer if the city would've just paid to get me fixed so I could stay on the streets but they figured it was cheaper for them to retire me. It all work out OK in the end I guess.
A little over 22K miles. She hasn't ridden in the past 5 years. She injured her back at work and has had to have two surgeries, ( last a back fusion ). She may never ride again? She wont sit in a side car & didn't like how the Spyder seat made her back feel or any other big two up cruiser we tested . It's been a couple years ago before the last surgery she tried a test sitting that lasted 2 minutes. Who knows maybe some day she may try a test siting again but I'm doubtful she'll ever go riding again
LOL you're100% right Working allows me to get out of the house & ride everyday and not have to deal with all the stuff on the "Honey do list" that never seems to get any shorter no matter how much I do around the house. Of course she doesn't mind the extra spending money & me out of her hair for a few hours. I don't think it's a secret thou as I always tell people, "I ride to work & work to ride"
Another great video Robert. It appears that we are witnessing a future Harley rider in the making.
Thank you & I agree she becomes more curious about the bike & gear as time goes on
I love it when the grand kids greet you. awesome. Great commute Rob. RSM8
I love it also It doesn't happen everyday but I like it when it does. It was a good week of riding
It’s always great to see your videos. I get a big smile each time when your grandkids come out to greet you home. They really do seem like wonderful kids. Ride safe my friend.
Thank you That's nice to hear & they are a joy to have around
Absolutely agree! Looks like they love their grandpa! RSMF
Thanks I've got to enjoy every minute of them before they get too old and develope other interest & Grandpa is no longer cool

Yep! Kat's first out the door when you get home...she's into the bike...she's gonna ride! :)
I totally agree with you. She's more interested in the Bike than Liam and always has questions & wants to touch it or wear the gear.
TGIF.... well TGIS being Sunday now! 😉.... man you weren’t foolin’ around on this ride, Ridin’ like a boss!
Thanks It was a pretty good week of lane spliting

I read her your comments and she got a big laugh out of it. She said, "Daughter?! That's funny" You made her day!
I sure do like the 72,one nice bike,I think your granddaughter might ride a motorcycle when she’s older.👍😃
Thank you I really enjoy the bike but wish it had a 6 th gear lol. I'm pretty sure she'll want to ride in her future &n I'll encourage it by signing her up for a riding course when she's old enough. I wouldn't want her to learn any of my bad habits
I remember a few years ago I told my son not to touch the pipes and what was the first thing he did...touched the pipes!!

We’ve had some great lane splitting weather in California 👌🏼
yes we've had really nice weather this past week here I hope it lasts

Great to watch the lane splitting Robb! Another great vlog! How's the hand?
Thank you My hand could be much better IMO. I wonder if I got back on the bike a little too soon as it hurts a lot by the end of the week

ever going to fix that squeaky brake?

does the wife ever ride with you? how many miles on that bad boy now?

I bet the only reason you work is to have an excuse to ride and not have the wife mad at you. Shh, it's our secret.
LOL you're100% right Working allows me to get out of the house & ride everyday and not have to deal with all the stuff on the "Honey do list" that never seems to get any shorter no matter how much I do around the house.
