That likely because so few people have played it. It went under a lot of people's radars because it was a psp game and it's ps2 port was pretty late in the consoles life span.
It's nice to see a well-articulated, young RUclipsr playing these older games and fairly critiquing them. I'm an early 30s old man still playing old GTAs, and despite the struggle, I love 'em.
The first GTA game I achieved 100% completion in. I loved how one ofnthe rewards was the ability to rewatch all cutscenes back on Victor's TV at his hotel safehouse. Awesome feature. Awesome game.
Playing both LCS and VCS on the psp is still novel to me. Just like what they're doing now, running gta 3 on the dreamcast, it feels like a miracle that it just works.
Vcs was very underrated even though the story, soundtrack and the business empire mechanics were the best things about it, but sadly it was forgotten because it was the last 3d gta game on ps2 near the end of it's life cycle, for the business raids the only way to fix it is by saving your game and reloading that save, it will reset your retaliation bar with whatever gang that you took the business from.
I remember playing this on my PS2 when i had no school on weekends, in the early morning. The music, the story, the city and the beautiful sunshine of the game you describe in the video is giving me a lot of nostalgia 😪
Saw this game on my friends PSP and was blown away. Same day I asked my mom to take me to the store and the had a ps2 version of it. Still have it with the manual (Manual is the old magazine with Marty on the front of it lol) I wish rockstar would have made it possible to play on modern hardware.
I just beat this again like a week ago. It holds up very well. Great soundtrack, and gameplay, but the game was slept on as a PSP title and secret PS2 title. It never got the recognition it deserved.
The best thing about the Empire building aspect in this game, is that after you complete a certain amount of asset missions in the Empire Building, you automatically get paid at a certain time in the game, because annoyingly in the Original Vice City and San Andreas, after you complete the asset missions, you have to drive by each day just to pick up the the payout, or in San Andreas, you have to to run by Zero’s store just to get the payout, and annoyingly if your in Las Ventures, it feels like a complete waste of time to drive all the way to San Ferro just to get the payout and drive all the way back. I guess the developers realized that it was stupid for the player to drive to a certain location just to receive the payout, when the player could automatically get paid at a certain time without driving to a location.
I'm still a firm believer that this game is way better than LCS due to the amount of stuff Rockstar expanded upon like the business feature and the unique melee system that can't be found in other games. And to this day, this is still the only GTA game where you can grab NPCs or snap their necks. However tho, I still hate the boomshine mission from Phil and the "Hose the Hoes" mission from Louise. I know the aim in this game isn't perfect, but man...that firefighter mission from Louise just sucked..
4:50 You're playing the PSP version which originally didn't have 2 analogs same with LCS. Meaning you couldn't use the camera as normal GTA scheme. The PS2 version however improves the controls by letting you use the second analog
it's awesome that a young person is experiencing old video games wish more younger people would play these games and understand how we played these games and how they are gold to us
I love VCS I am playing it on PC rn as well, emulated the PS2 version btw you probably had the PSP version because on the PS2 version you can actually use your right analog stick to move the camera 😅
In the PS2 version, if you fail a mission, you could get in a cab which takes you back to where your previous mission was, then it used the skip trip feature, first used in San Andreas.
I think VCS has a lot more of an 80s vibe than VC and the city also looks a lot better. For whatever reason; Vice City looked really overcast and drab in VC, but it looks very sunny and vibrant in VCS. I just found it to be a more enjoyable gang that was better paced. Like in VC you start off in Vice Beach which is the wealthier and more interesting part of the city, but you open up Vice City itself which is kinda "meh" in comparison. In this game it's the opposite which shows you're moving up. Also the drug dealing and smuggling missions were relatively unique and less repetitive than the pimping and extortion missions.
Lol if u think about GTA: Vice City's Graphics, it's just GTA 3 but with a 80s Filter tho haha and ofc Technology improved later 4 years after 2002, that's why they got it right, Eighties-ish up VCS more😎🌅
Vic Vance is my favourite GTA protagonist. Vice City Stories is amazing mechanically and with it's ambience. While I love it, I feel bittersweet for it being a prequel and knowing what happens to to Vic by the end 2 years later.
i agree with the difficulty while driving in vehicles or the fork lift mission, but i love the difficulty on foot it encouraged me to just buy the regular sniper rifle and take all the NPC out from a distance. you can hold L1 or L2 (whatever you program it to be) to slow down the aim so it wont fling everywhere and that makes sniping way easier. since they cant lock on at sniper distance that means you can pick most of them off while 1 or 2 might get close enough to damage your health but usually they are easy to take out since snipers in vice city games are a 1 hit kill by default.
I love this game, finished it first on PSP in 2015 I think, then again on PSP emulator this year actually. I share the same opinions as you about the game, it's the hardest from the GTA 3D universe, the city is improved compared to the original Vice City (it came out 4 years later so it makes sense that they have improved it). As far as the soundtrack, it's another good selection of 80s songs but nothing compares to the OG Vice City. It's a good game but now it's stuck in limbo either on PS2 or PSP because they never re-released it probably because they don't want to pay for song licensing again. Can't buy it officially anywhere anymore.
There is a mod where you can actually use mouse and keyboard off the PSP emulator version. I am playing it right now, so far it works nicely. You can roam the camera in a vehicle as well!
Ayy cool you went way back to old ass games I remember playing when they were new. Just wondering how long it took to grow out those dreads, doooood? Not longer then my older sister's body count, right my man?
Good video. This is my favorite 3D era GTA (and 2nd favorite overall), and I get your frustrations, it's janky as all hell, specially on the PSP. If you're able, give the PS2 version a go. Besides better controls, the neons just pop even more, so it's even more of a mood. A few things to note: - It's Louise, with an "E" - Vic Vance is the older brother. He is the shortest, so you calling him Lance's "little brother" still works, tho - There is a Lifeguard mission on the beach with 3 variations, just hop into the red BF Injection. Besides that, the beach still pretty useless - To stop the gang attacks in your empire, just save and reload. Hate to do that, but it works
I had to beat this game with cheats in 2006 (I was 6 lol) I had all my cheats wrote on a piece of paper. Very hard game and a very underrated game in the best era gaming, dig the video man!
This game is great, but I think the tone is a bit off. It feels like a midpoint between laid back Vice City and gritty IV. The story is tragic and the characters are mostly unpleasant but there is escapist empire building and wacky 80's nonsense. Rockstar is usually very good about that kind of juxtaposition.
For what I mostly Love about Vice City Stories, on how they developed it... it wasn't just a 100% Copy & Pasted GTA III, VC in terms of Content and Features, which imo what LCS failed to do... Imagine if Swimming wasn't featured in VCS, and having San Andreas the only 3D Game to swim, that'll ruined the Game for me🤮 VCS was trying to be different and have everything Unique for the Game's anesthetic, especially implementing a Real Singer Celebrity like Phil Collins to play as himself in a 80s based game??? Imo Vice City Stories not only deserve more Love, but it should've gotten San Andreas's Level of Popularity... Despite some Flaws and Glitches, it was still Perfect game to be the Last Released 3D Game💯❤

The reason why you need to use 2 button to move the camera is because the emulator you are using is the PSP emulator not the PS2 version, the PSP has less buttons then a PS2 controller and that is how we have to move the camera if we play on the PSP but luckily even if you use the PSP emulator you can fix this issue in 1 minute but it seems like you were unaware of this at the time of playing which is sad and it made your experience worse, but at least now you are aware of this if you decide to replay the games in the future.
if the PSP had a right hand analog stick i think it’d be the greatest handheld console of all time this is a wonderful game but i still find it hard to replay games without mission checkpoints

Also you must've been emulating the psp version because last time I checked you can move the camera with the right analogue stick on the PS2 version not the psp I know this because I just played it 2 days ago
This game is seriously underrated.
Indeed…

That likely because so few people have played it. It went under a lot of people's radars because it was a psp game and it's ps2 port was pretty late in the consoles life span.
The coolest thing about this game is that you can buy property around Vice City just like in San Andreas and the original Vice City
Idk why they decided to only let CJ buy houses, even tho Rockstar were still giving the "gang profits" for owning the properties
@@Analog-to-digital-cotinual Tommy was able to buy houses tho, but they were useless & had no interiors.
@sadmankhan9630 Glorified save points but yeah i think the ps2 would have struggled trying to load all those interiors

Finally , someone who is calm during a review instead of fast pacing editing and dumb jokes.
Also dirty stuff as well ^_^
I guess it is hard to find someone like that nowadays
The first GTA game I achieved 100% completion in. I loved how one ofnthe rewards was the ability to rewatch all cutscenes back on Victor's TV at his hotel safehouse. Awesome feature. Awesome game.
VCS story is also underrated. Probably top 5
" I"m a long way from being a good guy"
GTA VCS was my first GTA game and holds a special place in my heart I hope GTA 6 has some references to VCS
Playing both LCS and VCS on the psp is still novel to me. Just like what they're doing now, running gta 3 on the dreamcast, it feels like a miracle that it just works.
That’s how I felt when I started playing Red Dead Redemption on the Switch
And the detail from 2002 vs 2006 VCS big difference
Vcs was very underrated even though the story, soundtrack and the business empire mechanics were the best things about it, but sadly it was forgotten because it was the last 3d gta game on ps2 near the end of it's life cycle, for the business raids the only way to fix it is by saving your game and reloading that save, it will reset your retaliation bar with whatever gang that you took the business from.
I never had a PSP. I only played this game on PS2. Absolutely excellent
PS2 version got a bunch of extra missions.
VCS was the only game I had beaten on a PSP. Thankfully, I bought the PS2 version off the PS3 store before it was removed.
I remember playing this on my PS2 when i had no school on weekends, in the early morning. The music, the story, the city and the beautiful sunshine of the game you describe in the video is giving me a lot of nostalgia 😪

Gta vcs 45% main story
5% assets control or attacks
50% the fucking side missions
The empire system is my favorite feature of any 3d era gta game.. it gave VCS tons of replay value after the main story was finished.. genius idea
Vice City Stories is my favorite GTA. I love Vic Vance and its a shame rockstar did him the way they did
Man I'm still playing this on the actual PSP 😭
Freaking loved this game back in the day on the PS2, one of my favorite GTAs along with San Andreas, seriously underrated for sure.
I recommend playing the PS2 Version of GTA Vice City Stories because of the right analog stick

I played it fully recently and I was like damn that game was good but it was hard
man this game is a classic used to play it a lot in ps2 days, i still play it on ppsspp
I'm playing through this now and it's easily one of the best 3D era GTA games. I got it right behind San Andreas
enjoy it
In the PS2 version, if you fail a mission, you could get in a cab which takes you back to where your previous mission was, then it used the skip trip feature, first used in San Andreas.
Happy 40 in-game years since the events of the 3D universe started.
In the antenna mission take the helicopter they can't get you from the ground and after you can hit all the bribes
Yeah only took me 3 hours to figure that out Lol

Johnny Klebitz too. From GTA 4: The Lost and Damned.
