They are amazing, specially performing live, I think the next one you should react to is Soñar that one is so good as well, Some people may find NMIXX songs weird because of the changed up and mixes they have on their songs but to me it actually work. That's their concept mixing up genres and I like it. These girls are so talented they deserve more recognition. Glad you are checking their music out.
I agree! I was there to see the beginning of both groups and they were definitely underrated and didn't have instant hype and appreciation. "Run For Roses" is the best and most unique music arrangement I've heard in probably more than a decade. It is a literal work of art! You were right, about it having some aspects of "folk". But to be more exact, the violin parts in the pre chorus 1:08 are very reminiscent of the old wild west saloon music. While the little the guitar riffs during the verses and some other parts of the song to me sound more like old English/British/Irish folk music, the kind that you hear in old gangster movies that were set in London lol for example; Peaky Blinders. Then Bae comes in on the bridge with the stripped back more aggressive guitar grunge. To put it more simply, the song producers were geniuses! The lyricists, which includes Young K from Day6 are masters of their craft. What's even crazier though is how amazingly NMIXX pulled off this concept! This wouldn't have been possible if someone else sang it. But NMIXX is so vocally COMPLETE that they can literally make any song their own.
Nmixx are incredible! They performed in IDays Milano and Bst Hyde Park without backtrack, their live vocals are no joke! Run for roses may be my favorite so far, Dash and O.O are second.
Boom, a B side from this same album has an awesome twist, but the whole album is crazy. Love Me Like This, and Dice, are also really great. Lily's cover of Psycho on Lee Mujin (and her whole performance) is next level.

When NMIXX promoted Run for Roses, they said the song was "country-pop." The production references some of the modern Nashville country sounds, such as the violin lead lines.
The violin(and banjo and mandolin if you listen close in the mix) are 100% American bluegrass style, so that's the folk you were picking up on. Definitely not something I've ever heard in kpop and it's shocking how well it works together.
