I am a Thai Buddhist living in America for 16 years now, have been struggling alone in this foreign country, experiencing up and down moments in life. Since my heart fully embraced Buddhism's teaching, not even a single day have I felt lonely or bored. My mom taught me to pray this intro Chanting since 10 years old with the translation in Thai, and many other chants that would spend over an hour each night to finish. May I translate this song in English for you phrase by phrase with my best understanding in English: This chant is sung in Pali language: "Namo Tassa Bagawato Arahato Samma Sam Buddha Sa" And here is the English translation in details: "Namo Tassa" = Heartedly express my honor to you, "Bagawato" = who is the exalted one/ fully enlightened* one, *Enlightenment = State of being profoundly aware (under a fully developed/ stabilized mind) in the mechanism of all matters in that they are impermanent: they emerge (by its cause to be born), exist (by its cause to exist), and end (due to no longer being nourished by its causes to continue on existence). Thus, nothing else but suffering conditions*** that exist. There is no actual "suffering" or actual "sufferers". Anyone who realises this will be awake/enlightened. **Suffering condition = State of not being able to maintain itself; state of decay. All life forms and physical matters have suffering condition by nature. "Arahato" = who has purified the mind (due to the realization above) isolated completely from all defilements; the realization of impermanence in all matters helps eliminate his desires, thereby eliminating greed, anger, and mental delusion. when I met my Thai wife. So I left the Swedish church, and became more of a Buddhist. I like budha teaching. Where you mostly think good and beautiful.
