@@nicbentulan yeah
My students wont see this he says.
I say see you for A levels 😎
came here for the fight stayed for the chess lol
what's your opinion of andrea botez vs dina belenkaya?
I love Mr. Brick's choice of walkout song. Very fitting haha
62yo 1100 elo VS 30yo 1780 elo, I don't want to see that massacre. Am scared.
Jesus that opening is already shitty after like 6 moves.
good for you for recognising about the opening. i had a little feeling the opening was bad, but i wasn't really sure.
still, i wonder how they would've fared in chess960boxing :P

@@nicbentulan chessboxing960 is a great idea also
@@allafleche thanks XD
@@allafleche 1 year later eeeehhhhhh ok actually i love chess960 and hate chess but i don't think i like chess960boxing more than chessboxing. i think chessboxing is good for lower rated players like andrea botez to be able to stall in chess against dina belenkaya to win in the boxing
Saw checkmate, but decided to wait till after a boxing round to play it. What a crowd pleaser.
Showed respect both to the crowd and his opponent. AND in the interview as well
EXACTLY. I even suspect this is what Dina Belenkaya did to Andrea Botez yesterday. Like Dina didn't miss a mate in 1. Dina just wanted 1 more boxing round with Andrea.

@@nicbentulan oh, I donno, Dina wasn't coping with them haymakers all that well 😆 Can't see her consciously submitting herself to another two minutes of unnecessary beating
@@Orimthekeyacolite haha oh you watched it too cool cool thanks for replying wasn't expecting this really. But yeah I came back to this video right after the Dina Andrea thing you got reddit? Come to r/chessboxing
Gerard Ripper Reilly what a legend

Man lyk mr reily

Ninja called he said where da pizza at
First move and already a fool, he touched the clock with the wrong hand.
undefeated
Erm why is a unfit 62 years old man allowed to fight in a boxing match? And matching him up with a 30 year old young man? Certainly it’s a mismatch and it’s awful to watch. Maybe match him up with someone closer to his age?
Unfit in boxing? Unfit in chess? Or both?
@@nicbentulan clearly both but he's a stick figure so yeah, not a great physique for fighting. I skipped around for the chess but after bh2+, kh1 & he's likely to win that bishop as I don't have a high opinion of his opponent regarding chess either.
How many 62 y/o chessboxers can you name?
@@theeffectoflogic3 chess yes but i thought maybe the boxing was ok? idk. i didn't pay much attention to the boxing
Only just learning this game, but boxers are mostly pretty smart. Seems like a proper boxer could train defensive chess, learn how to stall, and then just drop you with so little effort it makes him feel bad.
Yes. Unfortunately there are stupid rules in stalling. I wish they made the rules more specific about how many seconds counts as stalling or even get rid of stalling altogether.
But yeah Manny Pacquiao or Josh Waitzkin would totally dominate chessboxing.
Big ups mr reilly
Sir, i see this...
Same
I would just practice straight boxing and hop in this
so you'd be the opening act players who know how to box but then the commentators say there's no teachable moment in the chess part?
not that there's anything wrong with that. after all it's really chessboxing not chess. but yeah that right?
5:25 bongcloud/barnes?
6:18 - 8:10 ouch --> wow the guy was giving the crowd a chance to see a boxing round after the chess game was pretty much over?
i wonder if wood might've had better luck in chess960boxing. at least the opening advantage would've been reduced. idk. i mean, what, opening trap or common opening mistake leading to an checkmate so early in the game? see 14:39 the announcer is even surprised it's an actual checkmate instead of a concession (british word for resignation i guess. lol. idk)
not really an opening trap. He just missed that the bishop and the queen lined up for an attack on the kings side. Seems like a beginners mistake. I've lost a lot of games like this as well. Its easy to miss the long diagonals
