Bangalore has a cosmopolitan culture, and people from many parts of India come here, from what I've observed it is fairly easy to adapt just to English itself (Kannada is the most spoken language tho). For other cities though, I'd recommend learning a little bit of the local language, if you're trying to settle for a longer period of time. All the best!
