I don't know if anyone noticed but the dancing was a blend of break dancing but also traditional Cossack soldiers dances with the heel pointing and spins.
Absolute Banger! The first man in space wasn't an aristocrat, a billionaire, a business tycoon or even a political leader. He was the son of a simple bricklayer.
The little “Gagarin!” in the middle and end of the song make such a nice catch. I wish they did that line just a couple more times throughout the song!
From now on if people ask me why I know who the first person who traveled into space/orbited the earth is I'll be able to say: 'Well there was this video with break-dancing astronauts...'
Well, technically, they mean the same thing. You're arguing over which nation prefers which term, but unless you're in a national space program, the two terms are effectively interchangeable. :)
Great band and interesting spacesuit moves It was a momentous time and he was an explorer and pushed unbelievable boundaries - a true Soviet hero along with the people that helped this occur
+Patricia Hobson Yes it's excellent stuff. You may also like The Egg, who do similar stuff- A bit less sample driven with vocals on some of their tracks. Check out 'Ben Hur' ,'Nothing' and 'She's Terrific' to start with. Also the classic 'Give 'em Whisky' by Colourbox is a must for spoken sample lovers. So influential.
Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Added to my albeit short list of tunes about Yuri Gagarin, that includes; 'Elvis In Space', by Dave Formula; 'The Dignity Of Labour, [Parts 1-4]', by The Human League, and 'Hey Gagarin', by Jean-Michel Jarre. PSB's quality control is still sky high. Can't wait for the new album.
Love the combination of the actual Soviet bombastic over-blown language being brought into a techno-funk musical celebration that is both serious (as in serious music) and also tongue in cheek silliness. It brings the whole fantastic achievement of space travel and the ridiculous national competition of the cold war reality down to earth. Funky.
It's Yuri's Night again! 63 years ago this fella changed the course of human history. The whole planet should know him and love him. He did a brave thing.
Gagarin. That boy had the sheer fuckin balls to sit on thousands of tons of rocket fuel, about to be blasted literally off the face of the planet, as no human had ever been before, and simply shout 'LET'S GOOOOOO!' down the radio. A supreme example.
Yeah. He is a hero of all of humanity. They all are. And no matter where they are from. I wish it will be great to have a Yuri statue monument on first human station on other planet or moon. He deserve it.
Гагарин - наш герой. Он - человек-легенда, и я безумно рада, что живу в этой великой стране! Gagarin is our hero. He's a legend, and I'm so happy, that I live in this great country!
I have been waiting for this for a long time. Oh my God that was amazing. Those dance moves were incredible and the tune obviously is brilliant. Move over Daft Punk and your cool robots. PSB are coming!

What a rythm! Music, culture and history are an innovative and emancipating tandem: a laid-back but, if appropriate, winning bid. We are an academic interuniversity contest that encourages the selection of history and geography in Colombia and South America. We likes PBS.

Except for Alan Shepard, at least then.

@@michaelgwyndavies2827 and it does not matter one bit when Gagarin and the achievements of yesteryear are concerned.

You're right.
There are numerous disciplines involved, including steps from American jazz dances, referencing the US' input into the space-race.

I didn’t really, but that’s a great observation.
I’m pretty sure they also threw a Kid n Play in there too 😂❤

Ю́рий Алексе́евич Гага́рин
It is believed that before start Gagarin was senior lieutenant and after landing immediately got promoted to major, thus skipping rank of captain.
